Becoming an Evolutioneer: See Clearly, Prepare Wisely, Protect What Matters, and Build What Works

A positive, voluntary path for people who want to become more useful in a rapidly changing world.

FACTNet practical path: See Clearly, Prepare Wisely, Protect What Matters, Build What Works

You may already be becoming an Evolutioneer.

If you are learning how the world really works, preparing responsibly, protecting people and living systems, correcting mistakes, cooperating across differences, and building better options for the future, you have already begun.

An Evolutioneer is not a perfect person, an elite person, or a person who possesses the approved vocabulary. An Evolutioneer is someone practicing how to become more reality-based, capable, resilient, responsible, cooperative, and useful.

The reward is not a grand title. It is greater clarity, stronger practical skills, better preparation, meaningful contribution, trustworthy relationships, more realistic hope, and the knowledge that your effort can leave more possibilities to those who come after you.

The Short Definition of an Evolutioneer

An Evolutioneer is a person who faces reality, keeps learning and self-correcting, prepares for serious climate and polycrisis risks, protects life and dignity, and helps build practical, resilient, sustainable, cooperative, and life-affirming responses.

Short form: Evolutioneers face reality, keep learning, prepare wisely, protect life, and build what works.

Core action framework: SEE. PREPARE. PROTECT. BUILD.

Evolutioneer is a voluntary, practice-based identity. You do not need to use the word to participate. Practice comes first:

REAL PROBLEM → LEARNING → CAPABILITY → CONTRIBUTION → OPTIONAL IDENTITY

Understanding Evolution Without Assuming Inevitable Progress

Evolutioneers study evolution because understanding how change, adaptation, cooperation, development, and breakdown occur can help us make wiser choices about humanity’s future.

This does not require believing that evolution always moves upward, that increasing complexity is automatically better, or that biological evolution, human civilization, or the universe as a whole is inevitably progressing toward a predetermined destination.

Scientific evidence does, however, show that under particular conditions some evolutionary and developmental processes can produce increases in cooperation, organization, learning, information processing, adaptability, specialization, integration, and other capabilities. Other conditions can produce stagnation, maladaptation, regression, fragmentation, collapse, or extinction.

An Evolutioneer therefore studies both sides of the process: the conditions that make constructive developmental advances possible and the conditions that cause those advances to fail or reverse.

Understanding these limited progressive-evolution principles is an important part of Evolutioneer education because some of them may be directly relevant to humanity’s current climate, ecological, technological, social, governance, and polycrisis challenges.

Where to go next

1. What Can the Evolutioneer Path Help You Gain and Do?

This path begins with positive capability, not fear, guilt, or a demand that you absorb every global problem at once.

See the Larger Pattern

Understand how climate, ecological, resource, economic, political, health, technological, and information problems interact, and how constructive responses can reinforce one another too.

Find Your Best Starting Point

Begin with what matters to you: protecting family, climate preparation, better thinking, community resilience, meaningful service, improving institutions, or building solutions that can survive real-world stress.

Develop Useful Capabilities

Improve reasoning, self-correction, resilience, communication, cooperation, ethical judgment, preparation, systems thinking, metacognition, and action under uncertainty.

Turn Knowledge Into Public Benefit

Help create educational materials, courses, archives, resilience projects, partnerships, better policies, practical demonstrations, tested models, and local solutions other people can use.

Belong Without Surrendering Conscience

Participate voluntarily. Keep the freedom to question, disagree, leave, revise, maintain healthy boundaries, and retain your political, cultural, philosophical, secular, religious, or spiritual identity.

Become More Useful Without Pretending to Be Superior

The goal is not to become a supposedly “more evolved” human being. The goal is to become more capable of learning, preparing, protecting, cooperating, correcting, and contributing while recognizing the equal dignity of other people.

Learn From Life's Durable Successes and Failures

Study patterns that have helped living and human systems adapt, cooperate, regenerate, survive disruption, and create new capacities. Also study predation, exploitation, overshoot, brittle systems, destructive competition, capture, and collapse. Evolution is a source of evidence, not a moral oracle.

Build Realistic Hope

Replace passive optimism with practical hope: evidence, skills, preparation, relationships, experiments, feedback, revision, and action that can improve possibilities even when outcomes remain uncertain.

Preserve Joy and Humanity

Make room for art, humor, friendship, celebration, rest, beauty, wonder, love, and play. A movement trying to protect life should remember to be alive.

Understand Limited Progressive Evolution

Learn where evidence supports increases in cooperation, adaptability, organization, learning, integration, or developmental capacity; understand the conditions that make these developments possible; and equally study regression, collapse, maladaptation, and evolutionary tradeoffs.

The 60-Second Evolutioneer Explanation

You may already be acting like an Evolutioneer even if you have never heard the word.

If you are trying to see reality more clearly, learn from the deeper patterns that support life, prepare for disruption, protect freedom and human dignity, preserve useful knowledge, cooperate across differences, and build better solutions, you have begun.

An Evolutioneer faces serious climate and polycrisis risks without denial or surrender and helps expand the better possibilities of Our Next Bold Adventure through learning, preparation, service, testing, cooperation, and accountable action.

2. Our Next Bold Adventure: The Positive Story

Humanity is already living through rapid and disruptive change. The crises themselves are not the adventure. Floods, famine, forced migration, war, ecological loss, political breakdown, economic disruption, and preventable suffering should never be romanticized.

Our Next Bold Adventure is humanity's response: what we learn, protect, repair, discover, create, test, improve, and accomplish together while facing real danger and uncertainty.

It is the constructive work of preserving what is best, reducing avoidable suffering, protecting human dignity and living systems, strengthening resilience, improving cooperation, correcting failing systems, and discovering better ways to live and organize.

The phrase is an invitation, not a prophecy. It does not promise that everything will work out. It does not imply utopia, inevitability, or one uniform future. It asks a practical question: What better possibilities can we still protect, create, test, and expand?

Evolutioneers are one kind of participant in this larger story. The identity is optional. The work is what matters.

3. The Shared Quest Network: Cooperation Without Ownership

The Shared Quest Network is the planned collaboration of people and independent organizations contributing different pieces of Our Next Bold Adventure.

No single organization can solve humanity's connected climate, ecological, social, technological, economic, and institutional problems. Useful work is already scattered among researchers, educators, nonprofits, communities, public agencies, businesses, local projects, professional networks, and ordinary people. The network exists to help compatible efforts learn from one another without forcing them into one hierarchy, ideology, or brand.

Partners do not need to merge with FACTNet, adopt every FACTNet conclusion, use the Evolutioneer identity, or surrender their mission, culture, leadership, methods, or independence.

Shared Quest Network principles

  • Voluntary participation and legitimate exit.
  • Independent organizations keep their autonomy.
  • Cooperation grows through clearly defined projects and mutual benefit.
  • Evidence, local knowledge, and responsible disagreement remain welcome.
  • Claims and methods remain open to testing and correction.
  • Power, funding, incentives, conflicts of interest, and capture risks should be transparent.
  • Results, failures, and useful lessons should be shared whenever doing so is lawful and safe.
  • No founder, donor, organization, ideology, religion, party, or website owns humanity's future.

Public invitation: Learn. Prepare. Protect. Discover. Contribute.

Optional identity at FACTNet and Job One: Evolutioneer.

Shared collaboration: The Shared Quest Network.

4. Why Evolutioneers Matter Now

Humanity has extraordinary capacities for knowledge, cooperation, creativity, care, restoration, adaptation, and invention. We also face a period in which climate disruption, ecological overshoot, resource pressure, economic fragility, inequality, political polarization, misinformation, technological risk, conflict, public-health threats, and institutional weakness can interact and amplify one another.

FACTNet uses the term Great Reckoning for the difficult process of seeing clearly, understanding honestly, and responding to accumulated consequences that can no longer be safely denied, deferred, or externalized.

The Great Reckoning is not a prophecy that everything will collapse. It is not permission to panic, become cruel, or surrender. It is an analytical frame for recognizing interacting risks early enough to reduce avoidable harm, prepare for what cannot be fully prevented, protect what matters most, and make better choices under pressure.

Our Next Bold Adventure is the positive response. It begins wherever people turn honest understanding into useful capability.

The Evolutioneer's historical role

Help humanity move through the Great Reckoning while expanding the possibilities of Our Next Bold Adventure.

Not by pretending one person can save the world. Not by waiting for perfect leaders. By becoming more capable, helping others become more capable, strengthening the systems within reach, and connecting local action to larger cooperation.

5. What Evolutioneers Do

Keep Evolving Themselves

Develop knowledge, judgment, emotional maturity, metacognition, health, resilience, relationships, practical skills, ethical awareness, and the ability to cooperate. Self-development is not self-glorification. It is preparation for wiser action.

Face Reality

Seek the best available evidence, examine uncertainty, compare explanations, and resist denial, propaganda, wishful thinking, and manufactured certainty.

Keep Learning and Self-Correcting

Treat beliefs, plans, organizations, models, and personal habits as revisable. Change your mind when evidence or experience warrants it. Discovering an error is progress, not humiliation.

Study Success Patterns

Look for deeper patterns in evolution, living systems, and human systems that help life persist, adapt, cooperate, regenerate, recover, and flourish, while also studying failure patterns and the limits of analogy.

Think in Systems

Look for processes, relationships, contexts, transformations, feedback loops, delays, tradeoffs, unintended consequences, contradictions, changing conditions, and effects across scales.

Prepare

Strengthen household, community, ecological, economic, informational, health, and institutional resilience before emergencies make preparation harder.

Protect

Reduce preventable suffering, defend freedom and dignity, protect vulnerable people, preserve useful knowledge, support legitimate rights, and care for the ecological systems on which life depends.

Build

Create and test better habits, livelihoods, teams, communities, institutions, technologies, incentives, policies, learning systems, and forms of governance.

Cooperate Wisely

Support contributors, contain deliberate free-riding fairly, align incentives, share burdens, preserve accountability, maintain healthy boundaries, and build cooperation that can survive stress.

Act Across Scales

Connect personal responsibility with family, neighborhood, organization, region, nation, humanity, the biosphere, and future generations. Use subsidiarity: handle problems at the most local level that can manage them effectively, while coordinating at wider levels when causes and consequences cross boundaries.

Turn Knowledge Into Practice

Understand that reading, agreeing, and posting are not enough. Capability grows through action, feedback, reflection, correction, and repeated improvement.

Preserve Options

When certainty is impossible, protect flexibility. Avoid choices that unnecessarily lock people or institutions into brittle pathways. Preserve knowledge, skills, relationships, ecosystems, and practical alternatives that future people may need.

Protect the Conditions for Cooperation

Defend trust, fair procedures, truthful information, legitimate dissent, transparent rules, accountable leadership, and meaningful ways to resolve conflict. Cooperation without safeguards can become exploitation; safeguards without cooperation can become paralysis.

Use Technology Without Surrendering Judgment

Use AI and other tools to extend research, pattern recognition, scenario building, translation, education, and design, while preserving human responsibility for verification, ethics, decisions, and consequences.

Preserve Joy and Humanity

Make room for art, humor, friendship, celebration, rest, beauty, wonder, love, and play. Burnout is not a virtue, and misery is a poor recruitment strategy for protecting life.

What this can look like in ordinary life

An Evolutioneer may be a scientist correcting a favored theory, a parent making a household more resilient, a neighbor organizing a cooling center, a teacher building media literacy, an engineer testing second-order effects, a public servant resisting corruption, a donor supporting high-leverage work, an artist restoring imagination, a farmer rebuilding soil, a local organizer preparing vulnerable neighbors, or a community member learning to cooperate with people who disagree.

The identity is defined less by occupation, politics, education, income, or belief than by a continuing pattern: learn honestly, prepare responsibly, protect life and dignity, cooperate intelligently, build what is needed, and remain willing to revise.

6. Core Evolutioneer Values

Truth and Evidence

Reality is not required to flatter our identities, hopes, organizations, leaders, donors, theories, or plans.

Learning and Humility

No person, institution, doctrine, tradition, professional field, political ideology, spiritual teaching, or artificial intelligence is beyond criticism and correction.

Life and Ecological Realism

Human flourishing depends on living systems, a stable-enough climate, material conditions, biodiversity, regenerative capacity, and physical limits.

Equal Human Dignity

Every person has worth whether or not they join, agree, contribute, believe, or identify as an Evolutioneer.

Freedom With Responsibility

Freedom and power create duties toward others, the commons, future generations, and the consequences of our actions.

Wise Cooperation

Cooperation becomes durable when fairness, incentives, contribution, accountability, rights, boundaries, legitimate limits, and consequences are addressed together.

Courage With Compassion

Difficult truths should be faced without cruelty, dehumanization, panic, humiliation, scapegoating, or despair.

Practical Service

Values become credible when they improve real decisions, relationships, systems, capacities, and outcomes.

Pluralism

People can cooperate on shared problems while retaining legitimate cultural, political, philosophical, national, local, secular, religious, and spiritual differences.

Long-Term Stewardship

Good choices protect or enlarge viable options for future people and the wider community of life.

Accountable Power

Responsibility grows with power, wealth, knowledge, institutional authority, technological reach, and the ability to affect others. Stronger power requires stronger transparency, review, correction, and safeguards against capture or abuse.

Important distinction: These are ethical and practical commitments informed by science, history, philosophy, lived experience, human-rights reasoning, and public debate. Science can clarify causes, consequences, constraints, and patterns. It does not by itself prove every moral value or political conclusion.

7. The Four Evolutioneer Actions

SEE → PREPARE → PROTECT → BUILD

1. SEE

Understand reality as accurately as possible. Study evidence, history, evolutionary and living-system patterns, feedback, power, incentives, uncertainty, bias, missing perspectives, competing explanations, and the interests shaping information.

2. PREPARE

Strengthen response capacity before disruption peaks. Prepare bodies, minds, households, relationships, finances, skills, communities, ecosystems, information systems, and institutions. Preparation is not panic; it is care made practical.

3. PROTECT

Reduce preventable harm. Protect life, dignity, rights, essential knowledge, vulnerable people, ecological commons, social trust, and the conditions needed for legitimate cooperation.

4. BUILD

Create and test better alternatives: resilient homes, mutual-aid networks, truthful information practices, sustainable livelihoods, effective organizations, wiser technologies, fairer incentives, accountable governance, regenerative practices, and institutions capable of learning.

The sequence is recursive, not mechanical. Building reveals what we failed to see. Protection changes what must be prepared. New evidence changes what we build. Evolutioneers cycle through all four actions repeatedly.

Working rule: Learn. Test. Measure. Correct. Share. Adapt.

8. Looking for the Deeper Success Patterns That Support Life

A central Evolutioneer practice is studying what has helped evolution, living systems, and human systems remain viable, create new capacities, recover from disruption, and support life over time.

This means looking below fashionable slogans and isolated events for recurring relationships. Which patterns help a forest regenerate, an organism regulate itself, a cooperative group resist exploitation, a community recover, a scientific field correct error, or an institution remain useful across changing conditions?

It also means studying failure. Evolution produces predation, parasitism, arms races, maladaptation, overshoot, domination, collapse, and extinction as well as cooperation and complexity. “Natural” does not mean moral, wise, or safe.

Variation and Diversity

Different traits, perspectives, methods, species, skills, and strategies create options when conditions change. Diversity without coordination can fragment; uniformity without alternatives can become brittle.

Feedback and Consequence Capture

Viable systems sense changes and respond. Decisions improve when actors receive timely information and experience meaningful consequences instead of exporting harm onto other people, places, ecosystems, or future generations.

Learning and Adaptation

Durable success requires updating behavior and structure as environments change. Repeating yesterday's success after conditions shift can become today's failure.

Cooperation With Protection

Cooperation can create capabilities individuals cannot produce alone. It remains stable when contribution is recognized and destructive cheating, capture, exploitation, or free-riding is contained fairly.

Appropriate Competition

Competition can generate discovery, discipline, and diversity, but uncontrolled competition can reward deception, extraction, arms races, monopoly, and destruction of shared foundations.

Environmental Fit

A strategy succeeds only in relation to context. Technologies, institutions, and practices must fit climate, culture, law, ecology, resources, scale, and changing conditions.

Nested Organization

Living and human systems often operate through connected levels. Problems should be handled locally when possible and coordinated at wider scales when causes and consequences cross boundaries.

Boundaries and Limits

Healthy cells, organisms, ecosystems, communities, and institutions need boundaries that regulate flows and protect integrity. Unlimited extraction or expansion eventually collides with limits.

Redundancy and Resilience

Backups, reserves, diversity, modularity, distributed capacity, and multiple pathways may look inefficient in calm periods but can preserve essential functions under stress.

Regeneration and Reciprocity

Long-term systems replace what they consume, maintain life-support conditions, and renew relationships. Extraction without regeneration liquidates the future.

Symbiosis and Mutual Benefit

Many breakthroughs in living and human systems arise when participants create reciprocal benefits, share information, specialize, and coordinate without erasing difference.

Recursive Self-Correction

Capable systems use results to improve the way they observe, decide, act, and learn. They revise not only answers but also the processes that produced them.

Preservation of Optionality

Systems facing deep uncertainty survive better when they retain multiple workable pathways. Over-specialization, irreversible commitments, and single points of failure can make otherwise efficient systems dangerously fragile.

Information Integrity

Adaptive systems require signals that are not systematically corrupted. Human systems need reliable measurement, honest reporting, dissent channels, source transparency, error correction, and protection against incentives that reward deception.

Fair Contribution and Anti-Capture

Cooperative systems deteriorate when benefits are privatized while costs are socialized, or when insiders capture institutions meant to serve a wider public. Durable systems create ways to reward contribution, constrain extraction, reveal conflicts of interest, and remove abusive power.

Do not turn evolution into a moral oracle

Evolutionary evidence can help us understand persistence, adaptation, cooperation, failure, and consequence. It cannot tell us by itself what humans ought to value. An Evolutioneer combines empirical learning with openly stated ethical commitments such as equal dignity, reducing needless suffering, protecting freedom, preserving living systems, and caring for future generations.

A practical success-pattern inquiry

  1. Name the system and its purpose. What life, value, function, or capability should it support?
  2. Study context and history. Under what conditions did a pattern succeed or fail?
  3. Map relationships and feedback. Who benefits, who pays, and what happens later or elsewhere?
  4. Look for both life-supporting and life-damaging patterns. Do not select only examples that flatter the proposal.
  5. Translate carefully. A pattern useful in an ecosystem may not transfer directly into ethics, economics, government, or personal life.
  6. Test at an appropriate scale. Measure results, protect participants, disclose failure, and correct the model.

9. Where the Evolutioneer Identity Lives, and How the Other Sites Support It

This is the most important identity correction in this version of the page.

Evolutioneer is no longer presented as one identity spread across all four websites. The four sites remain connected as a public-education pathway, but each now has a clearer role and, where appropriate, its own identity architecture.

FACTNet: Steward the Evolutioneer Identity and Connect the Whole Mission

FACTNet is the nonprofit umbrella, public-benefit steward, coordination center, and broadest home of the Evolutioneer identity. It protects the identity's standards, safeguards, public education, research connections, partnerships, accountability, and relationship to the Shared Quest Network.

Job One for Humanity: Put Evolutioneer Practice Into Climate and Resilience Action

Job One is the applied Evolutioneer home for climate reality, emergency preparation, adaptation, resilience, migration, ecological protection, fossil-fuel reduction, and practical stabilization. It translates SEE–PREPARE–PROTECT–BUILD into immediate decisions that can reduce risk and preserve future options.

Universe Institute: Develop the Thinking Tools Evolutioneers May Use

Universe Institute is not a primary Evolutioneer identity site. Its role is training and research: polycrisis analysis, rational thinking, systems thinking, metacognition, DMAP, Laske's 28 dialectical thought forms, forecasting, evidence grading, AI-assisted research, red teaming, and advanced problem-solving. Evolutioneers can use these tools without turning Universe Institute into another identity campaign.

The Way of the Universe: Home of Universe Citizenship

The Way of the Universe has a different identity function. It is the canonical home of Universe Citizenship, a wider civic-philosophical identity built on nested belonging, rights, responsibilities, planetary citizenship, the common good, and responsibility extending toward humanity, Earth, future generations, and the wider universe.

People who already understand themselves as Planetary Citizens should be welcomed and honored. Universe Citizenship expands that identity rather than dismissing or replacing it.

Universe Spirit: No Required Movement Identity

Universe Spirit protects open, non-coercive inquiry into meaning, consciousness, spiritual experience, existential questions, wonder, grief, joy, and inner resilience. It does not require people to become Evolutioneers, Universe Citizens, or members of any other movement identity.

Master summary: FACTNet stewards Evolutioneer. Job One puts Evolutioneer into climate and resilience action. Universe Institute develops the thinking tools. The Way of the Universe is the home of Universe Citizenship. Universe Spirit preserves open inquiry without a required identity.

The connected pathway remains valuable. The identity boundaries are simply clearer, because human beings apparently do better when every doorway is not labeled with the same new noun.

10. The FACTNet Evolutioneer: Connect the Whole Path

FACTNet is a 33-year-old nonprofit public-education organization. Its current mission connects climate and ecological reality, polycrisis literacy, better thinking, local resilience, practical ethics, structured learning, knowledge preservation, real-world demonstration, and long-term renewal.

FACTNet supplies the shared management, fundraising, staffing, partnerships, accessibility, communications, measurement, governance, and public-benefit safeguards needed to turn related educational projects into a coherent path.

Five connected Evolutioneer capacities

  1. Face climate and ecological reality. Seek honest risk education without doom, denial, or false reassurance.
  2. Develop polycrisis literacy. Learn how crises interact, cross scales, amplify one another, and weaken the systems needed to respond.
  3. Strengthen rational thinking and advanced problem-solving. Improve evidence evaluation, systems thinking, scenario analysis, DMAP, red teaming, metacognition, and decisions under uncertainty.
  4. Build local resilience. Help households, organizations, businesses, and communities anticipate danger, absorb shocks, protect vulnerable people, adapt, recover, and continue serving life.
  5. Expand the possibilities of Our Next Bold Adventure. Develop and test truthful, cooperative, just, ecologically responsible, resilient, accountable, creative, and life-affirming systems.

From online learning to real-world demonstration

Research. Teach. Prepare. Demonstrate. Preserve. Measure. Correct. Share. Replicate.

FACTNet's four websites investigate, explain, and guide. The planned Universe College will turn strong work into accessible noncredit courses, guided learning paths, exercises, facilitator materials, study groups, printable resources, and redundant knowledge archives. Job One's CCPARM framework supplies climate-change preparation, adaptation, resilience-building, and migration guidance.

The proposed Universe One land-based campus is intended to test, document, teach, and share practical approaches to resilience, ecology, education, cooperation, governance, and cultural continuity only after professional legal, financial, ecological, governance, staffing, and readiness safeguards are met.

Universe One is not intended to be an isolated refuge, private compound, privileged enclave, spiritual colony, or command center. The longer-term goal is a distributed network of independent, locally governed communities, learning centers, archives, and partners that adapt useful lessons to their own climates, cultures, laws, resources, and needs.

What a FACTNet Evolutioneer helps protect

  • Freedom of conscience, inquiry, criticism, association, and legitimate exit.
  • Human dignity, nondiscrimination, reasonable accommodation, privacy, due process, and fair grievance and appeal procedures.
  • Scientific updating, intellectual honesty, source transparency, public reporting, and preservation of useful knowledge.
  • Commons protections, fair contribution standards, anti-capture safeguards, conflict-of-interest review, whistleblower protection, and leadership accountability.
  • The principle that emergency authority must remain limited, reviewable, proportionate, and temporary.
  • Accessible education and participation for people with different capacities, resources, ages, and backgrounds.

FACTNet began in 1993 as the Fight Against Coercive Tactics Network. Its work has greatly expanded, but a core principle remains: people deserve factual information, better thinking skills, freedom, healthy boundaries, and practical tools that help them protect themselves, reduce preventable harm, make wiser choices, and contribute to the common good.

Learn more: The Universe Institute is the primary home for our research into progressive patterns within evolution, including the scientific evidence, limitations, disagreements, competing interpretations, and DMAP hypotheses. Other FACTNet-related websites apply relevant principles but do not duplicate the complete scientific discussion.

11. The Job One Evolutioneer: Climate Reality, Preparation, Resilience, and Stabilization

Job One for Humanity is where the Evolutioneer identity becomes most concrete and immediately practical.

A Job One Evolutioneer faces climate reality, prepares for worsening consequences, protects people and living systems, supports effective climate-risk reduction, builds resilience, evaluates relocation when necessary, and helps preserve the knowledge, institutions, relationships, and ecological capacities needed for a viable future.

The Job One Evolutioneer does six things

  1. Understands the climate risk. Connects forecasts, local hazards, timeframes, vulnerabilities, and polycrisis effects to real decisions.
  2. Prepares before disruption peaks. Improves emergency preparation, health, food, water, housing, finances, communication, mobility, and recovery capacity.
  3. Builds household and community resilience. Strengthens mutual support without panic, hoarding, scapegoating, or abandoning vulnerable people.
  4. Evaluates adaptation and migration. Recognizes when adaptation may remain sufficient and when planned relocation or managed retreat may become the safer choice.
  5. Keeps reducing the danger. Supports effective personal, business, institutional, and government action to reduce fossil-fuel use and prevent worse outcomes.
  6. Moves beyond survival. Helps preserve and build the people, knowledge, ecological systems, institutions, and cooperative capacities needed for Our Next Bold Adventure.

The two-part responsibility

Serious climate consequences are already occurring and additional consequences can no longer be completely avoided. That does not make further climate action pointless. It creates a two-part responsibility:

  1. Keep reducing the danger. Reduce greenhouse-gas emissions, protect vulnerable people and ecosystems, improve public understanding, and support effective institutional action.
  2. Prepare for consequences already occurring or no longer realistically avoidable. Strengthen households, livelihoods, organizations, communities, food and water security, health, emergency capacity, recovery systems, and, where necessary, migration planning.

Preparation is not panic. Adaptation is not defeat. Resilience is not isolation. Migration is not failure when careful relocation protects life and preserves future options.

CCPARM: applied Evolutioneer practice

CCPARM means Climate Change Preparation, Adaptation, Resilience Building, and Migration. It is Job One's applied framework for converting climate-risk knowledge into safer decisions for individuals, families, businesses, organizations, and communities.

Three planning windows

  • 2026–2032: Triage, preparation, and stabilization. Complete urgent risk reviews, reduce avoidable exposure, improve preparedness, protect vulnerable people, and preserve the widest range of future options.
  • 2033–2045: Deeper adaptation and redesign. Adapt infrastructure and livelihoods, strengthen regional resilience, relocate where necessary, preserve essential knowledge, and redesign failing systems.
  • 2045–2050 and beyond: Continuity, reconstruction, and constructive renewal. Maintain life-supporting capacities, learn from failures, restore damaged systems where possible, and build more resilient, cooperative, just, and ecologically realistic alternatives.

These are planning windows, not guarantees that every place will experience the same sequence. Conditions vary by location, vulnerability, governance, resources, technology, ecology, and interacting events. Evolutioneers use scenarios and update decisions as evidence and conditions change.

Use the Job One for Humanity Plan.

12. How an Evolutioneer Thinks

Today's major problems are not isolated machine parts. Climate, ecology, economics, politics, technology, culture, public health, infrastructure, resources, and information are complex adaptive systems. A narrow intervention can fail, shift costs, create rebound effects, produce unintended consequences, or worsen the problem it was meant to solve.

Scientific Method and Rational Inquiry

Form testable claims where possible. Seek evidence. Compare explanations. Replicate when feasible. Disclose uncertainty. Update.

Systems and Complexity Thinking

Examine wholes, parts, contexts, feedback, emergence, delays, thresholds, adaptation, relationships, nonlinear effects, and unintended consequences.

DMAP

Use Dialectical Metasystemic Analysis and Problem-Solving to search for missing processes, contexts, relationships, transformations, contradictions, perspectives, scales, and larger systems.

Probability and Uncertainty

Use ranges, scenarios, confidence levels, base rates, explicit assumptions, decision thresholds, and sensitivity testing instead of false precision or dramatic certainty.

Evidence Grading

Distinguish established findings, emerging evidence, informed interpretation, practitioner claims, DMAP-derived hypotheses, precautionary forecasts, ethical commitments, philosophical propositions, metaphysical claims, and speculation.

Red Teaming

Seek counterevidence, failure modes, tradeoffs, capture risks, implementation barriers, affected perspectives, and the strongest reasonable criticism.

Both-And Construction

Expose false either-or framings, search for useful integrations, and still make decisions when genuine limits and tradeoffs cannot be wished away.

Metacognition

Monitor attention, assumptions, emotions, identity attachments, incentives, habits, blind spots, and reasoning strategies. Ask not only, “What do I think?” but also, “What is shaping how I am thinking?”

Experiential Learning

Practice on real problems. Observe results. Correct the model. Repeat. A beautiful framework that never survives contact with Tuesday is still unfinished.

AI-Assisted Thinking With Human Accountability

Use AI to broaden search, challenge assumptions, compare hypotheses, simulate scenarios, identify omissions, and improve communication. Then verify important claims against authoritative sources, inspect reasoning and incentives, and keep final ethical and practical responsibility with accountable humans.

Integrated DMAP practice: analytic work and whole-system insight

In the DMAP practice developed and used by Lawrence Wollersheim, rigorous analytic work and wider holistic insight are treated as complementary. Research, note-taking, logical screening, systems mapping, and Laske's dialectical thought forms prepare the mind; periods of stepping back may then allow larger patterns or unexpected relationships to become visible.

Practitioner claim: This is a description of an experienced practice, not an established guarantee that incubation will produce a correct insight. Any insight must return to evidence, source checking, logical analysis, alternative explanations, and Red Team review before publication or consequential action.

What “aligned with evolution” should and should not mean

An Evolutioneer works to develop themselves, understand deeper success patterns in evolution, living systems, and human systems, and protect and improve the future of human and biological life. That valuable center needs an essential qualification: evolution describes change and selection; it does not guarantee moral progress, justice, wisdom, cooperation, or survival.

Evolutionary and systems patterns can inform choices, but the moral decision to protect dignity, reduce suffering, defend freedom, value life, and care for future generations remains a human commitment that must be openly argued and responsibly applied.

13. Four Complementary Advanced Domains of Evolutioneer Development

This model brings together four different kinds of development. It is not one universal ladder, and the theories should not be collapsed into a single score of human worth.

Four complementary development domains: metacognitive self-regulation, Kegan subject-object development, Laske dialectical cognitive complexity, and Stewart recursive self-scaffolding

1. Metacognitive Self-Regulation

Become more aware of attention, assumptions, emotions, impulses, biases, strategies, and reasoning. Learn to monitor and adjust how you think rather than merely producing more thoughts.

2. Kegan's Subject-Object Meaning-Making

Practice dis-embedding from identities, beliefs, emotions, loyalties, and worldviews that previously controlled perception from the background. What once “had” us can become something we can examine.

3. Laske's Dialectical Cognitive Complexity

Develop the capacity to think through process, context, relationship, and transformation using Laske's 28 thought forms and related dialectical approaches.

4. Stewart's Recursive Self-Scaffolding

Turn insight into deliberate exercises, habits, action systems, reflection, feedback, and repeated redesign so development becomes increasingly self-directed and self-correcting.

Evidence and interpretation note

These traditions have different concepts, methods, research histories, and degrees of empirical support. FACTNet and Universe Institute use their integration as an educational and practitioner framework. It should be tested, compared with alternatives, and improved, not advertised as one scientifically settled map of every mind.

A serious possibility follows from this integration: better metacognition, more flexible meaning-making, richer dialectical thought, and recursive self-development may help more people reason about complex civilization-scale problems. Universe Institute sometimes describes this as contributing to a possible second Enlightenment. It is a goal and hypothesis, not an inevitable historical stage.

14. A Seven-Step Example of Mature DMAP Practice

This is an advanced example of a mature practitioner sequence, not a guaranteed beginner script or a claim that every capable practitioner must work identically.

Seven-step example of mature DMAP practice

  1. Clear distractions and notice the mind. Record intuitions, feelings, biases, ideas, and fleeting thoughts without treating them as conclusions. Preserve them for later comparison and Red Team review.
  2. Research horizontally across connected systems. Review relevant evidence, history, stakeholders, disciplines, scales, and neighboring systems instead of remaining inside one professional silo.
  3. Take extensive notes and screen the material. Check logic, biases, omissions, assumptions, recurring patterns, source quality, incentives, and funding or conflict-of-interest risks.
  4. Re-examine the problem through Laske's 28 dialectical thought forms. Search systematically across process, context, relationship, and transformation perspectives.
  5. Map and deeply ponder the whole. Use flowcharts or systems maps to explore feedback, contradictions, delays, thresholds, alternative pathways, and nonlinear possibilities.
  6. Step away and incubate. Stop active analysis long enough for spontaneous integrations, whole-system patterns, or new questions to emerge. Record them without confusing insight with proof.
  7. Red Team before release or consequential action. Fact-check the original notes and new conclusions; test counterevidence and alternatives; reverify sources in multiple layers; and check the 28 perspectives again for omissions or overreach.

Insight must return to reality testing

Incubation, intuition, and holistic perception can suggest important patterns. They can also produce seductive errors. A mature Evolutioneer treats an epiphany as a candidate model, not an electronic telegram from reality, and sends it back through evidence, logic, ethical review, and adversarial testing.

15. What Evolutioneers Do Not Do

  • They do not call themselves a biologically, intellectually, spiritually, politically, or morally superior class.
  • They do not treat disagreement as betrayal or nonparticipants as inferior.
  • They do not claim that evolution inevitably moves toward goodness or that Our Next Bold Adventure is guaranteed to succeed.
  • They do not confuse moral preferences with scientific proof.
  • They do not rely only on mechanistic, single-cause solutions for complex adaptive problems.
  • They do not mistake consciousness, intention, prayer, technology, markets, government, individual action, or collective action for a cure-all.
  • They do not surrender judgment to founders, leaders, gurus, parties, organizations, experts, donors, traditions, influencers, or AI.
  • They do not use emergency conditions to excuse unlimited, secret, unreviewable, or permanent power.
  • They do not use individual liberty to excuse unlimited damage to ecological or social commons.
  • They do not assume that good intentions justify harmful means or exempt results from evaluation.
  • They do not confuse belonging with obedience.
  • They do not make adopting the Evolutioneer label a prerequisite for cooperation, dignity, or participation.

Evolutioneer integrity safeguards

  • Evidence before ideology.
  • No person or institution is above criticism.
  • No doctrine is beyond revision.
  • Human dignity never depends on Evolutioneer membership.
  • Leaders remain accountable; power requires checks, transparency, appeal, and succession.
  • No metaphysical or spiritual belief is required.
  • Science must not be distorted to support preferred moral conclusions.
  • Rights and responsibilities constrain and support each other.
  • Necessary cooperation does not justify unlimited centralized authority.
  • The identity is practiced by people, not owned by a founder, teacher, donor, organization, website, or faction.
  • Grievance, whistleblower, conflict-of-interest, and independent review processes should grow with organizational power.
  • Important claims, failures, corrections, and framework changes should be versioned and explained publicly.
  • Participation must remain voluntary, and legitimate exit must remain real.
  • Emergency powers should be limited, proportional, reviewable, and temporary.

16. A Progressive Learning Path

You do not need a graduate seminar before beginning. Start simply; deepen through practice. These stages describe learning and contribution, not human rank, fixed psychological status, or eligibility for dignity.

  1. Discovery: Understand Our Next Bold Adventure, the Great Reckoning, the Shared Quest Network, and See–Prepare–Protect–Build. Choose one useful action.
  2. Foundations: Learn basic evidence standards, evolutionary success and failure patterns, ecological limits, systems thinking, cooperation, rights, responsibilities, and resilience.
  3. Personal Practice: Improve health, habits, emotional regulation, metacognition, relationships, communication, finances, preparedness, sustainable consumption, and the ability to recover.
  4. Thinking Practitioner: Apply scientific reasoning, probability, source evaluation, systems mapping, DMAP, Laske's thought forms, red teaming, scenarios, and responsible AI research to a real problem.
  5. Great Reckoning Practitioner: Understand major systemic risks and help households, organizations, or communities reduce vulnerability without panic, coercion, or false certainty.
  6. Solution Builder: Evaluate and design institutions, incentives, commons governance, resilience, accountability, ecological economics, restoration, cooperation, and anti-capture safeguards.
  7. Community and Institution Builder: Help groups cooperate through facilitation, leadership, conflict resolution, project management, governance, fundraising, evaluation, accessibility, and succession.
  8. Steward or Trainer: Teach and protect integrity through advanced practice, mentoring, anti-cult safeguards, grievance systems, whistleblower protection, scientific updating, leadership accountability, and succession.

No Steward defines truth. A Steward is an accountable educator, facilitator, investigator, organizer, and mentor, not a guru, prophet, owner of the identity, or unquestionable interpreter.

Another way to remember the path

Discover → Learn → Identify if useful → Practice → Participate → Advance → Help others learn.

At every step, contribution matters more than status.

17. Rights, Responsibilities, and Power

Evolutioneers defend legitimate human rights and recognize that responsibility grows with power, wealth, knowledge, institutional authority, technological reach, and the ability to affect others.

They study how personal freedom, collective needs, ecological limits, due process, fairness, accountability, subsidiarity, emergency action, property, commons, and future-generation interests can constrain and support one another.

The legacy Universe Declaration of Rights and Universe Declaration of Responsibilities remain historically important resources within this broader body of work. They should be read as evolving documents requiring modern review, clear attribution, inclusive language, and comparison with established human-rights frameworks such as the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

Contested proposals should be labeled and argued, not presented as universally established.

Working principle: Rights protect persons from domination. Responsibilities limit the harm persons and institutions may impose on others. Accountable systems need both.

18. Evolutioneer, Planetary Citizen, and Universe Citizen Are Related but Different

Evolutioneer answers a practical question: “How can I learn, develop, prepare, protect, cooperate, and build during a century of serious climate and polycrisis risk?” Its primary public homes are FACTNet and Job One for Humanity.

Planetary Citizen expresses belonging and responsibility at the Earth scale. A Planetary Citizen recognizes humanity's shared dependence on one biosphere, takes ecological and global interdependence seriously, and accepts responsibilities that cross national boundaries and generations.

Universe Citizen, developed at The Way of the Universe, expands that citizenship frame. It asks what responsible citizenship means when belonging and responsibility extend from locality and nation to humanity, Earth, future generations, and ultimately the wider universe.

Universe Citizenship should honor people who already see themselves as Planetary Citizens. The intended relationship is nested expansion, not replacement:

Local and cultural belonging → national citizenship → planetary citizenship → universe citizenship.

These are not ranks of human worth. A person can be an excellent Evolutioneer without adopting Universe Citizenship, and a Universe Citizen does not become a superior kind of person.

Useful distinction: Evolutioneer is mainly a practice identity. Universe Citizen is mainly a citizenship and responsibility identity.

Explore The Way of the Universe.

19. Spirituality Is Optional

The earlier Evolutioneer tradition included a strong spiritual dimension. That history remains part of the record, but no spiritual or metaphysical belief is required to become or remain an Evolutioneer.

Spiritually inclined Evolutioneers may explore awe, wonder, mystical experience, consciousness, meaning, suffering, death, service, and transcendence. Secular Evolutioneers may focus entirely on evidence, ethics, preparedness, resilience, problem-solving, and practical action.

Universe Spirit is the separate site for open spiritual and existential inquiry. It requires no Evolutioneer or Universe Citizen identity.

Spiritual hygiene

Spiritual experience may offer meaning, insight, comfort, courage, and compassion. It must not replace healthcare, scientific evidence, consent, financial transparency, due process, critical thinking, or the right to disagree and leave. No teacher, founder, revelation, altered state, or metaphysical belief is above ethical scrutiny.

20. How to Begin Today

Begin with one action, not a declaration of perfection.

Learn

Read FACTNet's current overview of Our Next Bold Adventure and the deeper Great Reckoning analysis.

Study a Success Pattern

Choose one pattern, such as feedback, adaptation, cooperation, diversity, regeneration, resilience, consequence capture, redundancy, or information integrity. Examine where it succeeds, where it fails, and how cautiously it might apply to your life or work.

Prepare

Improve one household or community resilience measure using the Job One for Humanity Plan.

Think

Use DMAP to test one assumption and search for a missing process, context, relationship, transformation, stakeholder, or alternative.

Protect

Help one person, defend one legitimate right, correct one dangerous misunderstanding, preserve one useful resource, protect one vulnerable relationship, or reduce one avoidable ecological harm.

Build

Join or begin one constructive project that can produce a visible result, receive feedback, disclose problems, and improve.

Reflect and Revise

Write down what happened, what you misunderstood, what changed, what evidence matters, what the unintended effects were, and what your next responsible action will be.

Your first FACTNet action

Choose one connected capacity where your abilities and concerns can become useful. Then join the update list, volunteer or propose a partnership, support the work, or share one useful FACTNet resource.

Am I already becoming an Evolutioneer? Ask: Am I learning? Am I becoming more prepared and useful? Am I studying deeper patterns that support life? Am I protecting dignity and living systems? Am I building cooperation or better systems? Am I willing to discover that I am wrong? If your honest answer is “I am trying, practicing, and improving,” you have begun.

21. Evidence Standards, Red Teaming, and Self-Correction

Evolutioneer practice depends on knowing what kind of claim is being made. Confidence should match evidence, and uncertainty should be explained in plain language.

Established Evidence

Supported by strong, relevant evidence and serious review. Even strong conclusions remain open to correction when better evidence appears.

Emerging Evidence

Credible early findings or patterns that deserve attention but still require replication, broader data, or stronger causal testing.

Practitioner Claim

A method, observation, or insight reported from experience. Useful for testing and development, but not automatically generalizable or scientifically established.

DMAP-Derived Hypothesis

A possibility inferred through systems and dialectical analysis. It should name assumptions, evidence needs, alternatives, and possible disconfirmation.

Precautionary Forecast

A risk projection used when consequences may be severe and uncertainty cannot safely be treated as reassurance. It is not a claim of certainty.

Ethical Commitment

A value such as dignity, freedom, fairness, reducing needless suffering, or protecting future generations. It requires moral reasoning and public justification rather than scientific proof alone.

Philosophical or Metaphysical Proposition

An interpretation about meaning, reality, mind, value, or existence. It should not be presented as established empirical science.

Speculation

An idea with limited support. It can be creatively useful when labeled clearly and prevented from quietly becoming “fact” through repetition.

Evolutioneers consistently use the following three evidence levels:

  1. Established or strongly supported science
  2. Emerging or contested scientific interpretations
  3. DMAP hypotheses, philosophical interpretations, and proposed applications

Evolutioneers are expected to distinguish among these levels rather than treating hypotheses, philosophical interpretations, or ethical conclusions as established evolutionary science.

Before publishing or acting consequentially

  • Check original and authoritative sources where possible.
  • State assumptions, uncertainties, evidence quality, and plausible alternatives.
  • Ask affected people and dissenting experts what the model misses.
  • Test incentives, power, free-rider problems, capture risks, accessibility, and unintended effects.
  • Separate observation, inference, forecast, value, and recommendation.
  • Record important objections and explain why they were accepted, rejected, or left unresolved.
  • Version significant changes and publish corrections rather than quietly rewriting history.
  • Use feedback and outcome data to improve the framework, training, websites, and projects.

22. Preserved Legacy Learning and Reading Path

The earlier Evolutioneer page accumulated a valuable library over many years. The resources below are preserved because they shaped the movement or still support important study. Preservation does not mean every claim is endorsed. Some works combine established science with philosophical, spiritual, political, or speculative interpretations. Evolutioneers read them critically, compare them with current evidence, and retain what survives careful review.

Foundational movement resources

  • The Universe Principles of Right Action and Right Attitude. Practical guides central to the legacy Evolutioneer tradition; use with context, evidence, and revision.
  • John Stewart, “The Evolutionary Manifesto: Our Role in the Future Evolution of Life.” A foundational statement of conscious participation in future evolution; examine its scientific, ethical, and philosophical claims separately.
  • John Stewart, “Strategies for Advancing Evolution.” A practical follow-on resource on actions that may support higher-order cooperation and evolutionary development.
  • The Job One for Humanity Plan. Climate mitigation, resilience, adaptation, migration, and preparation actions.
  • Sustainable Prosperity. A framework for living within ecological limits while pursuing durable wellbeing.
  • Universe Declaration of Rights and Universe Declaration of Responsibilities. Evolving legacy documents requiring continued source, rights, inclusion, and modern-issues review.
  • The Universe Charter. A legacy vision and action framework to preserve, modernize, source, and Red Team.
  • Universe Day, community, and contribution-based recognition. Useful identity and belonging practices should remain voluntary, pluralistic, non-superior, and tied to meaningful contribution rather than status.

Books from the original Evolutioneer reading list

  1. John Stewart, Evolution's Arrow: The Direction of Evolution and the Future of Humanity.
  2. Elisabet Sahtouris, EarthDance: Living Systems in Evolution.
  3. William R. Catton Jr., Overshoot: The Ecological Basis of Revolutionary Change.
  4. Carter Phipps, Evolutionaries: Unlocking the Spiritual and Cultural Potential of Science's Greatest Idea.
  5. Ellen LaConte, Life Rules: Why So Much Is Going Wrong Everywhere at Once and How Life Teaches Us to Fix It.
  6. Joel R. Primack and Nancy Ellen Abrams, The View from the Center of the Universe.
  7. Brian Swimme and Thomas Berry, The Universe Story.
  8. Ken Wilber, A Brief History of Everything.
  9. David Christian, Maps of Time: An Introduction to Big History.
  10. Ted Chu, Human Purpose and Transhuman Potential: A Cosmic Vision for Our Future Evolution.

The earlier page also emphasized rationality, scientific method, systems theory, complex adaptive systems, meditation or present-moment practices, evolutionary ethics, sustainable livelihoods, community, Universe Day, and relationships among Evolutioneers, Planetary Citizens, and Universe Citizens. Those themes remain available in the larger ecosystem, but the identities and kinds of claims are now separated more clearly.

23. Frequently Asked Questions

1. Do I need permission to call myself an Evolutioneer?

No. The identity is voluntary and open. Begin honestly at your present level. Advanced roles, credentials, or teaching responsibilities may require demonstrated competence and accountability, but basic identity does not.

2. Is an Evolutioneer the same as an evolutionary activist?

They overlap. “Evolutionary activist” emphasizes public action. Evolutioneer is broader: personal development, success-pattern learning, clear thinking, preparation, protection, cooperation, solution-building, and self-correction.

3. Where is the Evolutioneer identity actually used now?

Primarily at FACTNet and Job One for Humanity. FACTNet stewards the identity and broad framework. Job One applies it to climate and resilience action. Universe Institute supplies supporting thinking tools. The Way of the Universe uses Universe Citizen as its canonical civic-philosophical identity. Universe Spirit requires no movement identity.

4. Is an Evolutioneer the same as a Universe Citizen?

No. Evolutioneer is a practical identity centered on learning, preparation, protection, cooperation, and building. Universe Citizen is a wider-scope citizenship identity centered on nested belonging, rights, responsibilities, planetary citizenship, humanity, Earth, future generations, and ultimately the universe.

5. Is a Planetary Citizen obsolete if they become a Universe Citizen?

No. Planetary Citizenship is a valid and important Earth-scale identity. Universe Citizenship is intended to include and expand planetary responsibility, not erase it.

6. Must Evolutioneers be spiritual?

No. Secular, religious, spiritual-but-not-religious, agnostic, and atheist Evolutioneers can work together while respecting honest differences. Universe Spirit exists for people who want a separate space for spiritual or existential inquiry.

7. Does evolution prove the Evolutioneer values?

No. Evolutionary science can reveal patterns, constraints, causes, consequences, successes, and failures. Commitments such as dignity, fairness, freedom, reducing suffering, and protecting future generations also require ethical reasoning and public justification.

8. Are Evolutioneers optimists?

They practice realistic hope. Better outcomes are possible, not guaranteed. Hope becomes credible when joined with evidence, preparation, skill, cooperation, testing, and action.

9. Are Evolutioneers survivalists?

They prepare, but the identity is larger than private survival. Evolutioneers protect others, strengthen communities, preserve rights and knowledge, maintain cooperation, and build conditions for long-term renewal.

10. Is the Evolutioneer identity politically partisan?

No political party owns it. Evolutioneers may disagree politically while sharing evidence standards, equal dignity, ecological realism, accountable power, responsible cooperation, and a commitment to test policies by consequences.

11. What if I criticize FACTNet or the Evolutioneer framework?

That can be responsible Evolutioneer behavior. Disagreement is not betrayal. Evidence-based, ethically grounded, or experience-based criticism helps prevent ideological rigidity, capture, misconduct, and self-deception.

12. Do I need advanced systems or DMAP training?

Not to begin. Start with one useful action. Deeper training becomes more important as the scale, complexity, uncertainty, and consequences of your decisions grow.

13. What is the most important test of the identity?

Whether it changes behavior and outcomes. A large membership with little learning, preparation, protection, cooperation, or building would be a vocabulary achievement, not a movement.

14. Is the Shared Quest Network another organization?

No. FACTNet is a nonprofit organization. The Shared Quest Network is the planned broader collaboration of independent people, projects, communities, organizations, learning centers, and other contributors working in compatible constructive directions.

15. Why use a new word at all?

Existing identities often describe only one part of the work. Evolutioneer links learning, self-development, preparation, protection, systems thinking, cooperation, correction, and building. The word remains useful only while practice matters more than branding.

16. Does learning from nature mean copying nature?

No. Nature includes cooperation and regeneration, but also domination, parasitism, overshoot, cruelty, and extinction. Evolutioneers study both success and failure patterns, translate cautiously, and apply independent ethical and human-rights standards.

17. Is Universe College currently an accredited college?

No. Its planned first stage is a noncredit public-education and knowledge-preservation platform. It must not claim accreditation, academic credit, professional licensure, or recognized degrees unless it later completes all relevant legal, educational, staffing, governance, and accreditation requirements.

18. Is Universe One a survivalist compound or private refuge?

No. Its proposed public purpose is education, applied research, resilience demonstration, ecological restoration, knowledge preservation, cooperation, and service to surrounding communities. Development should proceed only after legal, ecological, financial, governance, public-benefit, and human-rights readiness reviews.

19. Do I have to accept every FACTNet idea to participate?

No. FACTNet's mission depends on evidence, criticism, pluralism, correction, and voluntary participation. Useful cooperation does not require doctrinal agreement.

20. Can AI be an Evolutioneer?

The current identity is designed for human participants because its responsibilities include human agency, consent, dignity, accountability, and lived consequences. AI can assist Evolutioneer work, but assigning independent moral or civic status to AI requires separate philosophical, scientific, legal, and governance analysis.

24. Glossary

CCPARM

Job One for Humanity's Climate Change Preparation, Adaptation, Resilience Building, and Migration information and action framework.

Complex Adaptive System

A system whose interacting parts learn or adapt and produce changing patterns that cannot be understood reliably by examining each part alone.

Consequence Capture

The degree to which decision-makers experience the beneficial and harmful consequences of their decisions instead of shifting costs onto others.

Dialectical Thought Forms

Laske's 28 prompts for examining process, context, relationship, and transformation in complex and changing reality.

Distributed Community Network

Independent, locally governed communities, learning centers, archives, and partners sharing tested knowledge while adapting it to local cultures, climates, laws, resources, and needs.

DMAP

Dialectical Metasystemic Analysis and Problem-Solving: an advanced method for examining complex reality through processes, contexts, relationships, transformations, contradictions, perspectives, and scales.

Ecological Overshoot

A condition in which human demand on ecosystems exceeds their regenerative, absorptive, or safe operating capacities.

Evolutioneer

A voluntary practice identity, primarily used at FACTNet and Job One for Humanity, for someone who faces reality, keeps learning and self-correcting, prepares wisely, protects life and dignity, cooperates intelligently, and helps build practical responses that expand better future possibilities.

Free Rider

A person, group, or institution taking benefits from cooperation while avoiding a fair share of its costs or responsibilities.

Great Reckoning

FACTNet's name for the difficult process of seeing clearly, understanding honestly, and responding to accumulated climate, ecological, resource, economic, political, technological, informational, health, and social consequences that can no longer be safely denied, deferred, or externalized.

Our Next Bold Adventure

The positive public invitation to preserve what is best, reduce avoidable suffering, protect dignity and living systems, discover better possibilities, and build cultures, institutions, communities, and ways of living that are more truthful, cooperative, just, ecologically responsible, resilient, creative, and life-affirming. The crises are not the adventure; humanity's constructive response is.

Planetary Citizen

A person who understands Earth as a shared living system and accepts responsibilities that extend beyond local and national boundaries to humanity, the biosphere, and future generations.

Polycrisis

Multiple crises interacting so their combined effects become more dangerous, difficult, or unpredictable than the crises considered separately.

Progressive Evolution

A scientific-interpretive and philosophical framework studying conditions under which evolution can produce greater cooperation, complexity, capability, or awareness. It is not proof that evolution inevitably becomes morally better.

Realistic or Practical Hope

Motivation grounded in evidence, uncertainty, useful options, preparation, and action, not denial, inevitability, or wishful thinking.

Recursive Self-Scaffolding

Repeatedly designing, practicing, reviewing, and improving the habits, methods, supports, and environments that enable further development.

Red Teaming

Deliberately testing claims, plans, and systems for error, counterevidence, failure modes, unintended effects, implementation barriers, capture, and abuse.

Resilience

The capacity to anticipate, absorb, adapt to, recover from, and learn through disruption while preserving critical functions and dignity.

Shared Quest Network

The planned broad, voluntary collaboration of independent people, organizations, projects, communities, educators, researchers, learning centers, and other contributors helping better future possibilities grow without surrendering their independence.

Subject-Object Development

A Kegan-derived way of describing growth in which assumptions, identities, emotions, or beliefs that once controlled awareness become objects a person can examine and regulate.

Success Pattern

A recurring relationship or strategy associated, under specified conditions, with viability, adaptation, cooperation, regeneration, resilience, or increased capability. It is not automatically a moral rule.

Systems Thinking

Studying processes, relationships, feedback, context, delays, thresholds, emergence, and whole-system behavior rather than treating problems as isolated parts.

Universe Citizen

A separate, wider-scope citizenship identity developed at The Way of the Universe. It explores nested belonging and responsibility from local and national levels through planetary citizenship, humanity, Earth, future generations, and ultimately the universe.

Universe College

FACTNet's planned shared noncredit learning and knowledge-preservation platform for materials developed across the four educational websites.

Universe One

FACTNet's proposed land-based educational eco-community, resilience demonstration campus, applied research and training center, knowledge-continuity site, and possible headquarters.

25. Use AI to Test, Challenge, and Apply This Page

Copy any prompt below into a capable AI system. Do not provide private information. Verify important claims with original or authoritative sources because AI can be incomplete, outdated, biased, or confidently wrong.

  1. “Red-team this definition of Evolutioneer. Identify vague language, hidden assumptions, scientific overclaims, moral claims presented as facts, elitist or cult-like signals, authoritarian risks, branding problems, and practical weaknesses. Propose precise corrections.”
  2. “Compare the Evolutioneer values with evidence from evolutionary biology, cultural evolution, living-systems research, cooperation research, commons governance, systems science, moral philosophy, and human-rights law. Separate agreement, disagreement, uncertainty, and category errors.”
  3. “Evaluate these proposed success patterns: variation, feedback, adaptation, cooperation, appropriate competition, environmental fit, nested organization, limits, redundancy, regeneration, symbiosis, recursive self-correction, information integrity, optionality, consequence capture, and anti-capture. For each, give supportive evidence, failure cases, conditions, misuse risks, and limits on transferring it into human ethics or institutions.”
  4. “Apply SEE–PREPARE–PROTECT–BUILD to this real problem: [describe problem]. Identify stakeholders, feedback loops, power, incentives, vulnerable groups, time horizons, unintended consequences, and three actions I can actually take.”
  5. “Find the strongest evidence against my current view that [state belief]. Give competing hypotheses, base rates, reasonable data ranges, missing information, and what evidence should change my mind.”
  6. “Audit this proposed solution: [describe proposal]. Test incentive compatibility, free-rider containment, fairness, rights, measurement, enforcement, anti-capture safeguards, ecological limits, scale match, information defense, and adaptive feedback.”
  7. “Show where I am using a false either-or framing in this situation: [describe situation]. Generate viable both-and alternatives without pretending genuine tradeoffs disappear.”
  8. “Create a beginner Evolutioneer action plan for my household or community. Use one action each for seeing, preparing, protecting, and building. Keep costs and time realistic, include accessibility needs, and add a method for reviewing results.”
  9. “Separate every major claim on this page into: established evidence, emerging evidence, practitioner claim, interpretation, DMAP hypothesis, precautionary forecast, ethical commitment, philosophical proposition, metaphysical hypothesis, personal experience, or speculation. Flag anything placed in the wrong category.”
  10. “Compare the four-domain development model, metacognition, Kegan subject-object development, Laske's dialectical thought forms, and Stewart's recursive self-scaffolding, with current cognitive and adult-development research. Identify where integration is useful, where evidence is limited, and where the theories should remain distinct.”
  11. “Red-team Lawrence Wollersheim's seven-step mature DMAP practice. Identify cognitive strengths, likely biases, time and training costs, reliability risks, missing checks, and a simpler beginner version that preserves the essential safeguards.”
  12. “Audit the identity architecture in this page. Test whether limiting Evolutioneer to FACTNet and Job One, Universe Citizen to The Way of the Universe, and no required identity at Universe Spirit reduces confusion while preserving useful cross-site learning.”
  13. “Compare Evolutioneer, Planetary Citizen, and Universe Citizen. Identify genuine differences in being, responsibility, action, scale, and belonging. Check for hidden status hierarchies or unnecessary duplication.”
  14. “Take this proposed Shared Quest Network partnership: [describe partnership]. Identify mutual benefits, autonomy risks, power imbalances, conflicts of interest, safeguards, measurable outcomes, exit provisions, and what information should be public.”
  15. “Review this page for dyslexia-friendly readability. Flag sentences over 30 words, dense paragraphs, undefined terms, weak headings, buried actions, unnecessary repetition, ambiguous pronouns, and places where a short summary would improve scanning.”

Scientific evidence, ethical commitments, practitioner methods, philosophical interpretations, and precautionary forecasts should not be blended into one undifferentiated certainty soup. Humanity has produced enough of that already.
