Cult Awareness Network
The Los Angeles New Times published a cover story on Scientology's
takeover of the Cult Awareness Network this week. Some excerpts:
"...whenever people call CAN's hotline these days, more likely than not
someone from the Church of Scientology answers the phone. Instead of
warning people about suspected cults, opponents say, the new group
promotes them."
(Scientology) "Already having vanquished CAN, appropriated its name, and moved its
offices from Illinois to within blocks of Scientology headquarters in
Hollywood, lawyers with ties to the church moved to take possession of 20
years' worth of CAN's highly sensitive case files. Filling more than 150
boxes, the materials contained names, addresses, and detailed information
on thousands of people who had turned to CAN for help..."
PLEASE NOTE: "Already, the top lieutenant to once-jailed cult leader Tony Alamo -- the
flamboyant one-time L.A. street preacher who combined his messianic
pronouncements with a lucrative business in sequined leather jackets --
has flown in from Arkansas to obtain copies of the files pertaining to
Alamo."
This was 1999!!! Yet, Tony still avows that C.A.N. is after him!!! TONY ALAMO WORKS HAND IN GLOVE WITH SCIENTOLOGY AND C.A.N.!!!

From above post:
"Already, the top lieutenant to once-jailed cult leader Tony Alamo -- the flamboyant one-time L.A. street preacher who combined his messianic pronouncements with a lucrative business in sequined leather jackets -- has flown in from Arkansas to obtain copies of the files pertaining to Alamo."
The TOP lieutentant? Who would that be? Was that Don Sweat , Tommy Scarcello, or perhaps "007 Doco Man" Farr? Or could it have been Steve Johnson, Sandford White, Tom Barnett, or Ron Decker. We all know Tony consistently sets them up and then knocks them down.
What is sad is that some of those guys really used to be good people and Tony has made them all Guilty by Association. They have all become partakers of Tony's evil deeds by aiding and abetting him.
The above article proves once again that Tony Alamo is the one that has taken up with the Cult Awareness Network now owned and operated by Scientology.

This is what I think of all the incredible boastings of tony.

I just yesterday discovered this site and had no idea you all had been communicating like this. I know many of you from my association between 1970 and 1978.It's really good to hear your cybervoices. Re; Wilma's post, I remember Don as an intellegent guy with a dry keen sense of humor and a Texas drawl, Tommy as a really good singer who reminded me of Gene Pitney, Sanford and Tom as industrious hard working guys who went the extra mile to take care of people and Ron as a cool guy who I sometimes argued with over musical tempohttp://www.factnet.org/discus/clipart/happy.gif . How unfortunate that many of us are at odds! I think God really did assemble a "chosen people" just not in quite the same way the leadership would have had us to believe. Take good care of yourselves. John

Hi John,
Wow! Great to see you on this message board! I'm Susie, wife of Pete. Yes, it is very unfortunate that the fellows we mentioned above are still bewitched by Tony Alamo's lies and hypocrisy. I agree that Sandford and Barney were good guys. Joan and Ron Decker were some of my favorite people. You remember what it's like though, right? Those of us who have left the Foundation still pray for them to come to their senses and get out of there before it totally collapses into another Jonestown or Waco. Those that are still on the inside consider us backsliders, devils, and "the enemy".
Given the opportunity, many of us out here would help anyone that wants to get out and needs some help getting started. Tony has crippled many of them emotionally, telling them for years how useless they all are, calling them "old dogs" etc. They have no retirement, no savings, many have no families left to even go to. But they still have a chance to get out, breathe FREEDOM, and have the opportunity to make something of what's left of their lives.
I didn't get out until 1996 but I've had the opportunity to have a great life since that time. I'm close to all my and Pete's family. We have great jobs, I've been to college, traveled, and I totally enjoy life. In fact I just got back from a week's trip to the Cherry Blossom festival in Wash DC. I loved seeing the beauty of springtime there, but it was really cold (snowed Sat.) and it's great to be back in FL where it's warm.

Hi Susie G.,
Really good to hear from you.
I think it's heartbreaking what you point out about many of the people who've grown in to retirement age there yet have no means of caring for themselves and their families in their old age, and as you say, many don't even have family left to turn to.
I'm so glad to hear that you are doing well (and after being in there so long!).I've never been to Florida but intend to go one day, maybe after I retire http://www.factnet.org/discus/clipart/crazy.gif, anyway, hope to chat again real soon.

Johnny Modesto, Good to hear from you. I am not sure if you read the other posts. If you click on "Old Posts" and click on the photos Marcel has collected. Also, there are some posts by some folks you probably haven't heard from in many years. Billy Baxter, Rich Hydell, Rocky Shwartz, just to name a few.
Anyway I hope everything is going well. Contrary to popular belief you were right on tempo when playing the drums. You were NOT dragging. Are you still in Modesto?

hbananna,
Thank you very much for the tip on the pictures.Wow,we sure looked young! But I'm sure everyone hasn't changed a bit, I certainly haven'thttp://www.factnet.org/discus/clipart/uhoh.gif.
I was curious if you are a child I remember from Saugus at the apartments who used to be facinated with my watch, always wanting to grab it off my wrist and run off with it,delightful ray of sunshine in the darkness.I noticed that this child is now a full grown married adult.Anyway. if you are you probably were too young to remember me.
Take Care,
John

I am the daughter of GeGe and Jerry Achey, Hannah.
I was born in '73 so I could have known you when I was a little girl. Maybe you will get some photos posted on Marcel's site and they will jog my memory.
