Closing down for good? Did they say a reason why?

If it is true maybe we should make donations. AlanB, let us know if this would keep the factnet door open.

This is the email for those who didn\\'t get it:

Subject: You get to vote on the shutting down of Factnet’s discussion forums!

You are receiving this email from Factnet.org because you subscribed to our newsletter or registered in our discussion forums where you agreed to let us send you emails in the forum user agreement. To ensure that you continue to receive emails from us, add manage@factnet.org to your address book today.

You may unsubscribe if you no longer wish to receive our emails.

Dear Factnet registered users and newsletter subscribers,

There are some things you should know before you cast your vote below on weather Factnet should shut down all of Factnet\\'s discussion forums within the next 30 days.

The situation:

1.) Even with the many volunteers doing a great job and those of you who have been donating regularly to keep Factnet going, Factnet still can not regularly raise enough in donations to function properly. We are currently at the lowest bank balance we have had in 13 years!

2.) One of the reasons we always need your regular donations is the never-ending and often escalating battle with some cults and individuals who are spamming and/or hacking the Factnet website to shut down our voice and your forums.

3.) There are key security people that we do have to pay on a regular basis to fix the hacking and other software security problems. These security costs have continued to escalate as the site keeps growing.

4.) Factnet\\'s discussion forums have turned into about 70 % theological discussions and 30% discussions about cult and mind control practices. Even though these discussions can do much good, it still means that 70% of all discussion forum posting content is simple not part of our cult tactics education mission.

5.) We simply cannot technically run the existing discussion forums properly any longer without upgrading the current discussion software and creating a new MYSQL forum postings data base on our server. This is a considerable job in software and server labor and related costs and, we do not have the funds to do this.

6.) Because of our rapid growth, we are also getting more forum related administrative requests and more difficult-to-handle forum posting related threats than ever before, and these are consuming far more management and staff time than ever before.

(see next page)

pharsez_n_phariseez
06-04-2007, 08:56 PM
The proposed solutions for your vote:

1.) Shut down the whole discussion board down completely until we have a minimum of the needed $12,000 for the next 12 months of Factnet operations or,

2.) Immediately set up new forum software that will allow us begin charging each person who posts in our discussion groups $10 per year (lurkers could still lurk for free,) or

3.) Transfer all theological discussions and most of the discussion board forums to a new group of trustworthy forum individuals willing to put up the funding and staffing to maintaining some new kind of completely new discussion board not directly part or associated with Factnet, or

4.) Somehow convince the 14,000 registered discussion forum users and newsletter subscribers of Factnet to click the Factnet online donation button so that we immediately raise at least $12,000 for minimum funding to keep the discussion board functioning just as it is now (but with a new secure discussion forum software upgrade) and Factnet functioning for the next 12 months.

How to cast your vote on the above solutions:

Voting Option 1: Click the Factnet tax deductible online donation button below and donate, or send us a check at Factnet PO Box 1315, Ignacio, CO. 81137 or select the number 2 voting option below.

(Use the Make a donation button to the left to send your donation to Factnet via PayPal. You don\\'t even need a PayPal account! Via PayPal you can donate money using most major credit cards (PayPal will not disclose your credit card information to us) or from your PayPal account, if you have one.)

Voting Option 2: If we do not get the $12,000 in donations or very well on the way toward it (at least $6,000 over the next 30 days, wait for the Factnet staff to very quickly institute one of the other three solutions just above. You are welcome to send your opinions to manage@factnet.org on what other solution (1-4 above) you would like best. But, realize that we are administratively and technically backlogged. When we do get to reading and tabulating your suggestions, we may not send any receipt acknowledgement that we have received them.

So, in conclusion, if you want to keep using the Factnet discussion boards as they are now and keep them up, you will need to support it. It\\'s that simple. Place your vote in 1 or 2 above now.

Sincerely,

Lawrence Wollersheim
FACTNet Director

Hello folks,

Bad NEWS

wilma
06-21-2007, 04:11 PM
In the last two years there have been over 11,000 posts on Factnet on the Alamo Foundation thread. The majority of these posts have been to expose the violent, brutal, disgusting crimes of Tony Alamo.

After years of silence those who have had their lives ravaged by Tony Alamo had a forum whereby they could put words to that which they saw and experienced.

As it stands right now Factnet is set to temporarily close down in 13 days. Who knows when they will get back up and running again. Will all these orginal 11,000+ posts of exposing Alamo be put back on the internet by Factnet??

All the experiences, tears, and humor we have shared these past 2 years will never be able to be captured again in quite the same way. (and some of Tony's robots probably won't be inclined to come on here and make such lying fools of themselves either.)

My question is...does anyone have the TIME and KNOW HOW to save ALL these threads (including the OLD POSTS) to disk?? Please if anyone can do this speak up. Time is of the essence. It would be great if someone can back-up this stuff.

Hi Wilma and pobox398,

Lots of paper but everyone could agree to copy portions on their copiers. We could all have copy shares so no one person had to use up all their ink and paper. What do you think?

No reason to print on paper. You could just copy & paste into a Word document and save it that way. Then you could probably save it to a CD. Would take some work, but do-able, I think.

NSM is right. We definitely would want it saved to disk, not paper.

Are there any computer guys or ladies out there that could do this?? If there are several people maybe they could coordinate and split it up. (I imagine it would take a while)
There's still some time to work it out but not much.

Unfortunaley, I still haven't taken my computer class at school and I'm not very computer savvy. The night of the "raid" on the Ridge I saw DG in the office and I said desperately "what am I gonna do?" cause DG always bailed me out of my computer dilemnas. He said "Read the book". Well, It's been over 16 years and I still haven't "read the book". LOL
I should take the class though.

Factnet Forum Update (the whole update can be read on the factnet main page at www.factnet.org (http://www.factnet.org) )

What’s next for the Discussion Forums and Factnet?

"If those who use Factnet (some 14,000 registered users and thousands of daily visitors) help get us to at least $6,000 donation level soon we will keep the forums open and going and do the software and data base tech upgrades so the discussion forums will be able to keep running securely.

If we do not get to the 6,000 level we will need to shut down the forums or possible go to a small membership fee for posting. If we do not get to the $6,000 level even though we will have to shut all the discussion forums down at least temporarily, be assured the rest of the site WILL REMAIN UP and functioning to serve and the materials contained now in the forums WILL BE VIEWABLE. There will just be no additional postings. If we do not reach at least the $6000 target, in 3 months we will need to raise more money."

That is GREAT NEWS!!!!!

A couple weeks ago I saw on tv the actual construction going on of a highway between Saudia Arabia and Egypt, they said. Then I saw this scrippture in Isaiah 19:23, "In that day shall there be a highway out of Egypt to Assyria, and the Assyrian shall come into Egypt, and the Egyption into Assyria, and the Egyptions shall serve with the Assyrians.

Wild Dream: I don't mean to pop your baloon, but you need to consult a map...Saudia Arabia is due East from Egypt across the Red Sea. Assyria is now part of Syria and Northern Iraq and is to the North-east of Israel and the far north-east of Eygpt.

I think your still sore because I popped yours. a famous brother said, "Presbyterian, it's the same as Catholic." "In my town the presbyterians, catholics, and and baptists all have summer bible school together." For you to go into apostacy, and to brag about your cold ones, I wonder if you were ever saved to begin with. There must be a highway from Saudia Arabia to Syria. You talk like you condone alcohol. Do you condone alcohol? As a born again Christian I don't condone alcohol. Did Calvin condone Alcohol? If Calvin could see the Presbyterian institution today he would roll over in his grave.

Just a passing observation on my part. I wonder why it seems that the posters that attack the brothers usually remain anonymous? Smitty did nothing but state a geographical fact.

It doesn't mean the Scripture won't be fulfilled. Just that that road isn't the one.

I have not met a lot of the people who post on this board. The few I have met or correspond with I consider to be some of the finest people I've met. I have never met Smitty, although Bill talks highly of him, and I have to say I take GREAT offense to the words of Wild Child. Who the hell are you to be preachin to anyone?. Sounds like you never left the foundation!
You have only come on this board fairly recently, and seem determined to stir things up. Who appointed you G-d?

Thanks for the back up Bros! With only 8 days and change left, the focus needs to be on Tony Alamo! Oh, B.T.W Wild-Dream, yes, John Calvin did condone the moderate use of alcohol. He used (among other scriptures) Deut.14:26

Wild Dream,
Send it to Africa. They're tired of Tony's Albums.
Look:
This is my viewpoint. I believe in being a good person. In following the 10 commandments. In following the golden rule. This is the basis of all religions.
I have a problem with any belief that put's itself over all other beliefs. How DARE anyone say they are right, and everyone else is wrong. Don't you realize this is the reason for all the conflict in the world today.
THe bible is an INTERPRETIVE book. For anyone to say that their interpretation is the "right" interpretation is arrogant and foolish. No body is right and nobody is wrong.
As the "most intelligent" species on the planet, I believe we need to use our brains and common sense when it comes to interpretation. Man has changed a lot and come to a much better understanding of his being and his place in the world, since the bible was written. WE have words in our vocabulary and concepts, that didn't exist when the bible was written. Thru years of translating, many modern words were written in that MAY have changed the intent of the original writers, the understanding they were trying to convey to the populace.
If there is a heaven,I believe, that ANYONE, no matter WHAT RELIGION, no matter what their beliefs has a chance of getting there as long as they have been a good person and have done no harm to others.
"And the only measure of your words and your deeds, is the love you leave behind when your gone"

Alan, It's nothing of TA's "albums". I have'nt listened to him for many years and never would because I would'nt want to take a chance on taking on any of his darkness. I'm still in the process of eliminating his garbage ways from my pyche. The testimony is from a guy talented in the arts, like you, who did everything under the sun all around the world. He gave his testimony at my church a couple weeks ago and they made cd's of it.

Smitty, my concern is the chilren and youth who no doubt are reading these posts. I like to set things straight for them. I find it hard to believe as you said that Calvin condoned "moderate" alcohol. I obviously believe how we learned it in the early foundation. I've been hearing a lot about Calvin lately. I read the translators of the KJV were Calvinist's, and Eric says he's a Calvinist. I'm looking forward to studying Calvin. Any books you can recommend?

smitty
06-27-2007, 12:22 AM
Hello W-D! My best guess would be John Calvin in his own words. The book is titled "Institues of the Christian Religion" I belive you can get it thru Amazon.com.
Just to clear the air: I'm certainly not condoning drunkeness, that one's a slam dunk. However, just like there is a difference between eating and gluttony, there is a difference between moderate use of alcohol and drunkenness. The sin lies in the person who misuses it, not the object itself.I know we differ widely on this topic,I just ask that you see that there are other stances on drinking that are scripturaly supportable.

Stated on FACTNETs main page:

It’s the last few days before making the decision on closing down the Factnet discussion Boards

If you have not donated to help keep the boards open and get the new software needed to keep them safe, do so now. We are close to the donation level we need. Please be generous.

Several people said they would send $1,000 or more. Now is the time for those individuals to step forward. All donations will be used to keep the Factnet website online even if we do not keep the discussion boards open! Donate by clicking the “Make a $ Donation” link in the left column on most Factnet pages, or click HERE!

Just in at 1:10 pm 6/27/2007:

In today’s Factnet mail we just received a $1,000 check from a person/family in Massachusetts . We do not mention donor names by policy, but we really warmly and wholeheartedly thank you for getting us a whole lot closer to the keep our discussion forums open with new software and technology.

We are now at about $4,200 toward the minimum $6,000 needed. With just 7 days left we hope that your generous donation will encourage many others during the last few days of this donation drive to keep the forums open.

***********************************************
Whoever can should make a small donation $20 or $50 to keep Factnet up and running. It has been great to have a forum for speaking the truth about Tony Alamo.

Wilma,

I've heard/read from $6,000.00 to $12,000.00 is the amount needed. Also stated by this site is a registered membership of 14,000 people. If everyone gave $20.00 that's,let's see, over a quarter of a million dollars!! So far, they report $3,000.00 (and you have updated to $4,200.00) of donations are in.This is a very poor showing!!If everyone just gave $1.00 that would have done it.So it's time for all those "saying" they'll give $1,000.00 to go ahead and do it and everyone else to do what they can so we can get going again.

This message is for Tony Alamo The Pervert, The Child Abusing Preaching Pedophile who labels himself a "world pastor."

You don't have the foggiest idea about even being a neighborhood pastor, let alone the world. You don't even know how to treat the Body of Christ with kindness, compassion, respect and honor. You only know how to call them old devils, lazy, no good, a**holes, weasels, cur dogs, hoes, alley cats, and contemptuous racial names. You don't even know how to treat a wife. You don't even know how to treat your own household. You're worse than an infidel. What makes you think you would be entrusted with usaved souls? You can't even treat the souls that the Lord has already saved, with dignity.

I know in your reprobate mind you don't/won't consider this, but all of the above filthy names you have called the Body of Christ over all those years are what you have called Christ, himself.

In addition, the way you abused the brothers and sisters in Christ all those years physically, spiritually, mentally, emotionally and financially is the way you have treated Christ, himself.

Why?

Because ------

"Inasmuch as ye have done it unto ONE OF THE LEAST of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me."

NEWSFLASH:

The size millstone you will have around your neck, you will never even be able to surface to the top of the Lake of Fire.

To All the Dear Exmembers,

I wanted to take this opportunity to thank you. When I met Tom A. 16 yrs ago. I could never have guessed what he had been through. He talked about his life, He spoke of many of you through the years. I still had questions, lots of them.

Factnet gave me so much more insight as to what his life was like. With your stories,( and I have enjoyed many of them) I have come to understand, not only the good, but the bad as well. Stuff I just couldn't wrap my brain around. Factnet opened a door to understanding for us both.

During this time I have had the absolute pleasure of meeting many of you. There are many more I hope to meet. Please stay in touch.

If by chance Factnet is not done.....I have done my Mitzvah for the day, by taking the time to say thanks.

Lord Bless

Hello all,
I hope we are all just jumping the gun here, thinking that Factnet will go off the air soon. The clock is ticking indicating that there is less than 1 1/2 hours left. Even if it goes off the air now it is just supposed to be so they can reformat and come up with a way to collect a small donation from all the posters. I am quite okay with paying a small yearly fee to get the word out about Tony Alamo being a polygamist, child abuser, wife-beater, liar, deceiver, adulterer, fornicator, con-artist, hypocrite, Pharisee, false teacher, and the list goes on and on.

Thank you so much to Factnet for giving so many former members a chance to share their experiences while in the Alamo group. Thankyou for giving us opportunity to tell what we witnessed with our own eyes and ears of the abuses this anti-Christ weasel, Tony Alamo, aka Bernie Lazar Hoffman perpetrated against so many innocent young girls.

It's been great to hear from so many former members; that they are living successful, happy lives, contrary to the curses Tony breathed over us.

I am thankful to the living God on this July 4th to really be experiencing Independence Day!

No matter what happens with Factnet - I have to say everyone did a great job in exposing that child abusing, polygamy practicing, pedophile, high heel wearing midget - Tony Alamo.

Please go to www.alamoministrieswatch.com (http://www.alamoministrieswatch.com) and post your facts. Be sure to sign the guestbook.

Lets keep shinning the spotlight on that crockroach - tony alamo by warning others of his perverted ways!

Now, we have the factnet clock running backwards. Looks like we bought some time. Howabout some of the current foundation members get on here and post some good stuff. How was your fourth? Did you have some good grill fried food? I know its the tradition and everyone enjoys it. How is the weather in Arkansas? Probably a little warm about now. I lived there. I think it's a great place. Eric Estrada is selling land in Hot Springs now. Did you see him on TV? Anyway just type whatever you want. We would love to here from you folks. Just stay positive. Let's not start any negative stuff on the board. Also, you folks like Harold, thetruth, and expositor: really like to here your testimonies and especially what you thought of the pastor Tony Alamo when you first met him. Like to hear your thoughts on your first impression of Tony. Anyway may the Lord bless all your soulwinning endeavers. When Jesus is lifted up he will draw all men to him.

What is wilde talking about? I thought perhaps an Alamo member hijacked his handle, but checked the IP and is the same. Is that really him in his last couple posts?

Bill,

I have no clue as to what you are talking about. I barely remember you from the foundation and I sure ain't talking about you. What have you heard?

Tom

Boy, Tom

You must've done something right. The old boy is mad at you.

Wild Bill -
If you are so of the Lord - why don't you do what he says?

Matthew 18:15 - "Moreover if thy brother shall trepass against thee, go and tell him his fault between thee and him alone : if he shall hear thee, thou hast gained thy brother."

Maybe HICK-UP might better suit Wild Bill as a screen name?

The wayward one might better be reproved with this priceless gem:

Proverbs 22:10
Cast out the scorner, and contention shall go out; yea, strife and reproach shall cease.

Come On Now,

If we were all "cast out" every time
we really blew it where would we be? Come on now!!What kind of love did Jesus die for us to have?

Johnny M,

Great last question! I have pondered the likes of that one on many an instance. Conditional or unconditional love? And where and when to apply either seems to take the wisdom to know the diference.

C'mon Now. I think the point that is trying to be made here is not to cast anyone out. Anyway, that won't happen unless the moderator bans the poster for breaking the rules.

The point is that this forum shouldn't be for personal vendettas. If someone has ought against another they should take the issue to that person alone, not put it up here on a public forum posting their first and last names and then making their personal attack on them everyone's business.

If someone has a personal grudge against another, please take it to that person and settle it instead of making it a public display here on factnet. We don't want to hear about it, and I think I can speak for everyone.

For someone you call "annonymous", a lot of people obviously know my identity, Tom. Even Jack Russel who I don't believe I've ever met calls me "Wilde". On my 2nd post when I came on this board I stated my name and have done so many times since, so my identity has never been a secret. I'm proud to speak the truth openly. As far as being of the Lord, it's not that unusual, after being saved for 25 years, I know what I have in God, I still have the Holy Ghost, and I nurture it and cherish it. I was accused on this board, so I defend myself on this board. I would expect anyone and everyone else to do the same. I understand you're being protective of you friend Tom Smith, but I question his Presbyterianism just as Becca Sue did in earlier posts. I truely believe, and even as I have studied it lately, that the Presbyterian institution is a dead church, apostate, counterfiet, and may be somewhat reformed from Catholic, but is still basically Catholic. I read that Calvin drank a glass of wine with his one meal a day every day for the last 10 years of his life. I admit that I was and still am somewhat ignorant of Calvin, but at this point I doubt if he was even truly born again. I love to attack false doctrine and idolotry, and so did the Lord. I tell Smitty my thoughts in love. I love his soul, and the souls of everyone else on this board. "My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the rightous." Hick-Up is all right with me, I like that, it's funny. Maybe I should change my user name to Hick-Up. Thanks for the great idea detector, and I like your normal style, it's easier to understand. And I ain't going anywhere. I find this forum facinating. Amen.

Bill..you still didn't address Tom A's post. He said he barely knew you, so why would he lie about you? Your post sounds like you are more overwrough about me instrad of answering Tom's legitimate question to your accusation. In any event why post it here? Remember Matt. 18:15
As far as your preoccupation with my being Presbyterian,I don't care what you think. You asked for information and I gave you the ultimate source for Calvinism. You obviously never got it or else you would not have said what you did about the relationship between Presbyterian and Roman Catholic. I'm not going to go into the details of it now, just know you are speaking words without knowlege, and your ignorance is appallinghttp://www.factnet.org/discus/clipart/sad.gif

I think the "lie" that wild dream was referring to was that he Had posted his name on his first post, and Tom A refferred to him as an anonymous poster. Lets face it. He is still new to this forum, and most people probably do not remember who he is. It takes a while of being on here and posting until people remeember who you are, unless you sign your name on every post. THis is how I see it, and if that is what got him soooo upset, he needs to get a life!

If that is what got you so upset. Forgive me. It was not intentional. At the time I didn't remember you had posted your name.

isn't this becoming a little bit monotonous ?, going back and forth over virtually NOTHING ?? Bill W.; Do you remember working on the "potato machine" at the C.B. ?, how our hands were covered with MAGGOTS, and they were biting us ? isn't that a little bit worse than a possible misunderstanding with a well-respected, beloved brother ? please stop this nonsensical dialogue.(amen ?)

I am an old friend of Amy Eddy's and ever since she has gone to the alamo church I haven't heard from her. I have been trying to get a hold of her but I don't know how. Does any one know how she is doing and where she is? Is there any way I can get a hold of her?

claudia, I did work on the potatoe machine when I was a new bc, were you there then? I remember you much more from L.A,. You were there the first time I was there, and later when you were married to Kerry. It seemed like you and Dolores were in L.A. for years. What ever happened to Dolores and Philemon and Lily? To me those were great years seeing souls being saved dailly and filled with the Holy Ghost, seeing lives transformed. About Tom, it shows what kind of man he is, that he can take a reprof from a younger brother, and seek forgoveness. The Lord commanded us to forgive and seek forgiveness of each other and we're only doing what he wants in his love. The little foxes spoil the vine, and it says we have to quard our souls with all diligence. I don't remember the insects, but I don't doubt it. I remember steel-wooling rusty cans and thinking what am I doing here, because I always did real work, like carpentry. Like brother d said, I should have split right then, but the Lord had his hand on our lives and had us there because he was still doing a work with us and the foundation even though the leadership was backsliding. I think there was a big duality going on in the foundation, there was great good going on and at the same time great evil going on with the pastor and perhaps others. The Lord was allowing the tares to grow up with the wheat. Unfortunately the evil grew and grew and anyone with any sense had to get out. I know of brothers and sisters who have continued on in the Lord and what the Lord started in the foundation with us has continued on and is continuing to continue on. "Differences of administrations, but the same spirit". "We have no continuing city". Sometimes things (cities, administrations, churches), change but we as individuals continue on in the Lord if we choose to.
