I guess it is not very well known. Perhaps if you can find out who they are attached to. Usually there is a heirarchy you can check out.
One way to tell. Are the leaders accountable to you, or does the accountability only go one way?

I support Set Free 100% I have seen lots of fruit through them. I work with homeless people in LA and dont hesitate one bit in sending people there. The only complaints I have heard were unfounded and people who have had problems with everywhere they go (authority issues) and once again blame shifted rather than taking responsabilities for theyre actions.
Set free is an awesome ministry.

They are a cult, I know a couple of people who have turned to them and told me about the harsh conditions. It is crazy! The fact that you cannot contact family/friends for what I believe is the first 6 months of the program is a sure sign.

I have recently had Set Free brought to my attention. Having studied Scientology since 1999 I have to state that Set Free raises red flags for me. This Lindsey endorses them. I would like to know just HOW MUCH Lindsey knows about the group, outside of whatever information Set Free itself offers. Scientology puts out a great deal of self-promotional material which is very slick, some seemingly from unrelated groups giving positive testimonials. Then you look deeper and see that it's just a Scientology front group set up for just that purpose.
So, Lindsey, what do you actually KNOW about Set Free? Whatever possessed them to adopt the appearance of a biker gang? Have you visited those isolated facilities where the homeless are kept incognito? Or do you just think they're great because they "solved" the homeless problem in your area? You say, "The only complaints I have heard were unfounded..."
This disturbs me. It's the same argument used by Scientology when faced with criticism.
Anyone else, I need info and resources on this group immediately, as they're trying to move into Pacific Beach in association with my parents' church. I have the Rick Ross pages, but could use first-hand info. Please email me, thanks.

I was a volunteer for Set Free ministries. This is a ministry to prison inmates. We used to send bible correspondence course and we evaluated them on weekly basis. The results are amazing. Lives are being transformed.
