First, I said that Steve Born's thoughts are worth pondering. Although I made it clear that I disagree with Steve on some issues, Helen perceived that I didn't drink my Koolaid like a good boy - a violation of Groupthink dogma - and so she is huffing and puffing and trying to blow my house down.
Then, I had the temerity to say that Don Barnett is a false teacher, which is like saying eagles are birds, or that Mick Jagger has big lips. Helen's doctrine: if Don hasn't explicitly stated that Jesus is not the Christ, he can in no wise be considered a false teacher.
I am required to judge Steve's motives in exactly the same way as Helen, otherwise I am endorsing everything Steve says.
For the record, I don't regard the old Community Chapel as a cult, but as a beguiled church - a distinction in which I see a difference.
Nevertheless, Helen is a good example of the cultic mindset - unaccountable for her words, wreckless in accusations, and completely unwilling to acknowledge error.
