Good questions. Nowadays I tend to think the demonic forces that were at work in the Chapel were much less of a factor than simple deception by false doctrine. Demons or Satan himself have no power over those who are secure in the Word. They only have the power we give them by our own gullibility. If we believe that demons have power in and of themselves to wreak havoc with us, and we forget Christ's power over them, then demons do have that power. That is why I have long that it was the "deliverance" move that opened the door for the even worse chaos of "spiritual connections" at the Chapel. In becoming convinced that demons are the primary cause of one's problems, and then in spending inordinate amounts of time learning about supposed demonic activity and attempting to personally confront demons that, in reality, weren't there in the first place, a believer is departing from reliance upon the Word and relying upon his own imagination and experiences. If addressed long enough, however, demons that weren't involved in the first place are probably only too glad to show up when, by the teaching of "deliverance ministers," a believer has been sufficiently removed from his faith in Christ's victory over all of Satan's power.
