Does anyone know anything about the Seventh Day Baptist Church? I came accross their web site and they appear on the surface to be a mainstream Christian church that happens to recognize Saturday as the original Sabbath. I'm pretty interested in them, but I'd like to get some different input on them and approach cautiously. My past has kinda left me a little skittish of making new friends in new churches...}

I've known one 7th Day Baptist who's father pastored a church in Battle Creek, Michigan. As far as I know the church is on target. Doctrine is Evangelical with a Calvinistic bent. As far as I know the only difference is that they celebrate the Sabbath on Saturday

Seventh day baptists are guilty of the same aberrations as the "seventh day adventist" cult. They maintain if you do not observe the 7th day sabbath, saturday, that you are somehow sinning against the holiness of God. Such rubbish and legalism, don't fall into this trap, stay clear of this legalism. Baptists should know better with their historical positions on grace teachings. Offshoot cults like 7th Day Baptists somehow think they are superior and more holy by separating from mainline baptists, such rubbish and I think I smell the smell of pharisee.. I hope you get the picture I am painting here.

AS A FORMER CHILD OF A SEVENTH DAY BAPTIST PREACHER. WE ARE NOT A CULT. OUR BELIEFS ARE THE SAME AS MOST CALVINISTIC CHURCHES. THE ONLY DIFFERENCE IS OUR BELIEF IN SATURDAY AS THE HOLY DAY THAT GOD MADE IT. WE DO NOT LOOK DOWN ON OTHERS FOR THEIR BELIEFS. AS A MATTER OF FACT, I DO NOT LIVE CLOSE TO A 7TH DAY BAPTIST CHURCH. SO, I SOMETIMES ATTEND A BAPTIST CHURCH NEARBY THAT OBSERVES SUNDAY.

Most people who critize SDBs know absolutely nothing about us. I've checked our beliefs against other baptists and we're quite compatible. The one big difference is the obvious one. We choose to meet together for worship on Saturday.

Never been to a 7th-Day Baptist Church, but I commend them for their stand. They are hundreds of years old, and antedate the Adventists. The oldest 7th-day churches in England and the USA are 7th-Day Baptist churches. They were persecuted and even martyred in Britain for their faith.

Baptists stand for the distinctive doctrines of the priesthood of the believer, liberty of conscience, and assurance of salvation. All of these doctrines make them heretics in the eyes of the Roman Catholic church! Consistent Baptists should also reject Sunday as just another pagan doctrine of Romanism, along with its other relics of Christ's Mass, "Good" Friday, and Easter Sunday.
