Hello everyone,
I've read with interest most if not all of the messages relating to Faith Assembly/Hobart Freeman and would like to introduce myself (with a little history) and ask the question--where are you now in your walk with God?
I was saved and received the gift of the Holy Spirit right after high school (here in the sunny south!) in 1976. My mom was given some tapes from Faith Assembly and for some reason after listening to the tapes I knew that my destiny was to be in Indiana.
The person who shared the tapes with my mom had three sons (I attended high-school with the younger brother) and the oldest wanted to move to Indiana so we moved to Goshen and started attending the glory barn.
I met some wonderful people and thought I had found "utopia" what with all of the great teaching (Biblical Theology, Poetical Lit, etc., etc.). I was 18, young and impressionable, and loved Jesus with all of my heart! But alas, due to some family complications back in Alabama I had to leave FA for about a year. During that year I met and married my wife and we both moved back to Faith Assembly.
During this period the meetings were being held in houses all over the area and for a while in a tent on the outskirts of Warsaw (we were in the tent until the fall of the year.)
Later we moved to the new building. We were there until Bill Garner was removed as pastor.
We are presently serving God here in Alabama.

Hello William
Nice to see you. My name is Mark Scaliotti. I live in New England, in Salem Mass., the city of Peace (not the Witchcraft city!)
I belonged to a church around 1983 that followed the teachings of Hobart Freeman and started listening to the tapes back then. I was the sound man for the church back then and so I got ahold of the Theology and Deeper Life tapes through the leadership of the church. They had asked me to duplicate them and I was able to make copies for myself as well.
Currently I own all of Bro. Freeman's tapes as well as the radio tapes. I currently play them in a chat room on Paltalk called "Deeper Life and Discipleship" four nights a week. The teachings are a blessing to those who come on a regular basis.
Currently Faith Assembly is pastored by Joe Brenneman and has been so since around 1994.
Personally, I am serving the Lord in a chat room capacity, if that is what you want to call it, awaiting for God to use me in other capacities as well.
I have been saved since 1973 and received the Baptism in the Holy Spirit six months later in an Assemblies of God church.
God has been so faithful to me over the years and I praise God that we can really trust in Him, no matter what. I am a living example of that with all the personal difficulties I endured last year through the help of the Lord. God has taken the negative things that has happened to me last year and has turned them into good, in spite of it all. Praise God.
Anyway...I hope to continue to hear from you. If you are interested in learning more about the Deeper Life and Discipleship room, or the other rooms from Faith Assembly including the live church service, please let me know. I will be most happy to help.
I trust all is going well with you, brother and trust that God will keep you in His peace.

Hi Mark,
Thanks for the information, I'm glad you are doing well.
Reading over all of the posts brought back a lot of memories and helped me to remember people and events that I had long since forgotten.
I was also forced to draw some conclusions on the issues and experiences that profoundly affected my life--both bad and good.
The stories from Micah, Healed and Duncan, gave me a fresh perspective in dealing with my own children that I really needed.
I've especially identified with Hombre's posts (maybe because we are pretty close in age) and appreciated the insight and wisdom he has amassed.
I've never met Joe, but I knew Jim Brenneman and remember well the last time we spoke... a story for another time.

Hello, William.
Thanks for the compliment.
Not everyone here feels the same way about FA,
and there are degrees of discontent as well as defense.
I can only say re: where I am with my walk in Christ
right now, is that...I am not confusing salvation, or my personal
walk with the Lord, with membership in ANY organization.
I also find that we had some of the finest theological teaching
that is or ever was available....it always astounds me, how little
most confessing Christians know about the book that they
say is their source of inspiration....and the errors in todays'
church abounds...tithing and greedy pastors, lukewarm ministers
who are afraid to say anything, errors in baptism, errors in Christology,
and Pneumatology, lackluster worship services, fear as faith,
you name it...the modern church is hardly a repository for
Divine truth and direction beyond the simplest concepts.
...what is also sad for us who have experienced a measure
of the world to come, is the failure of the modern church to recognize
and embrace truth and faith....some actively fight against it.
...a friend of mine compares us to Israel in exile by the rivers of Babylon.
...I don't see us in exile, however...I see us in rest for the moment.
...as a tree lies dormant in winter, then springs to life
in clusters of blossoming foliage and fruit....
He IS coming....my friend.....He IS coming.
...remember the prophecy...whereupon Jesus says that ' this generation
will not pass away until all is fulfilled ' ?
...a generation can last quite a few years.....as I recall......Moses walked around
in the desert for 40 years, before he ever stepped back into Egypt to be a deliverer
for his people. Abraham waited a long time for the promise...as did Noah and the rest.
...time would fail to tell the stories of ....you get the drift.
Our generation is still alive...and there are still quite a few of us left.
The very nature of that prophecy infers consolation for those who doubt,
by reassuring us that our generation WILL NOT pass away, until all is fulfilled.
WE will never know the day or the hour, but we can know the seasons....
........ and spring is just around the corner, my beloved brethren.

Now I've got a case of heart burn (Lk 24:32) and I guess there isn't a pill for that!
I know you are right but sometimes it easy to fall victim to the "Elijah complex" when you can't count seven much less seven thousand!
more later!

William......
It is difficult for me to say this in this forum, as I will surely be criticised for it,
but I said that by the unction of the Holy Spirit, and the anointing was
on me as heavily as it has ever been, urging me on, to encourage and
advise....we are still out there William...and there are 144,000 of us out there.
The word of God is like a seed that was planted in our hearts 20-30 years ago,
and it is growing inside of each of us each day, with every new experience,
with every situation we confront, it is conforming us to His purpose for each of our lives.....we measure right and wrong each day in our hearts and minds,
with the Holy Spirit checking us and enlightening us, keeping us to Himself.
...there were 10 virgins...5 were wise...5 were foolish...
while the bridegroom tarried, they slumbered and slept...
until the day that the call went forth:
'Behold the Bridegroom cometh...go ye out to meet Him'.
William...I do not know if you recall...but there were quite a few prophecies
around the time of Brother Freemans death, in which we were told that a spirit of deep slumber was being poured out. That has happened, yet periodically,
I have awakened...again...I don't care what Unhealed and the rest will say...
right now it is part of my calling to say what I am saying.
I don't know why God has placed upon me what He has,
but I am thankful and blessed by it....I too, can read my own words and wonder,
but those above are not my own. I will surely hear from Unhealed and the rest of the unbelievers about this...but too bad....I rest my soul in His care.
God has His purposes and ways, which are far above our own.

Hombre,
It is refreshing to read that words of the life that the Lord has given you rather than the words of death that fivefoldedup/aka sinfulone has spewed out against you and me and others. I am very grateful to see that and to read your words of encouragement.
Yes, we are still out there. And I too have been blessed by the teaching that I have received. I never had the experience of being at FA, but I am still blessed for having such a pure word. And you are so right about what you have written.
God bless.

Hombre,
Yes, I could tell that the anointing was flowing! At any rate, after reading your post this am I decided that overcomers needed a place that wasn't labeled cult/sect so I registered http://www.overcomersonline.com
I got a popular message board program and installed it and now it is operational. I'm sure we will want to change things around a bit but for now I put up an Introduction section (for those anonymous posters as well as those who don't seem to want to be anonymous).
A Bible Issues section for the serious discussion of doctrine.
And for those who still are bitter I've put up a section called Rants/Raves.
I just got it ready about an hour ago so anyone who wants to can begin to post (and please offer me some suggestions-- I'm "moulder" over there!)

Mark you just keep wanting to fight!
is that the Holy Spirit?
Fruits of the Spirit?
"I was there" and Hobart Freeman put alot of people who were trouble makers out!
Dr Freeman never would have put up with a fighter and name caller!
(did you call people Fools and Punks?)
is that Love?
What about your friends here calling someone Gay who says sodomy is wrong?
is that why you are no longer a Admin at Faith Assemblies paltalk room?
your are under church discipline right?
Are you willingly sinning? And not repenting?
Hebrews 10:26 (KJV) For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth,
there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins,

one more Question Mark1124
did you write in text and post several times
that someone who would not pray in your room
with you for a quick war in Iraq
now has the blood of all the american soldiers on his hands?
mark1124 (mark1124)

Umm...hey sinner...
Answer...I am not under church discipline because I am not a member of Faith Assembly. Listening to a church service is not being a member of a church. You cannot be under discipline of a church that you are not a member of. Joe Brenneman is NOT my pastor. I have a church and a pastor. I do not sumbit to discipline to any pastor except the one at my church.
And I did NOT say that ANYONE who did not agree with my prayer for a quick war was guilty of the blood of the American soldiers.
So kindly quit putting words in my mouth. OK?
If you would kindly get your facts correct before making your assumptions, this thing between you and me would have ended three years ago. But of course, you have to drag things on and on.
Any more questions? Don't ask. Pray that God will show you mercy...I doubt that will happen because you have shown none to anyone.

Mark,
William has created a wonderful new blog site for those
who want to discuss issues seriously, instead of wasting time with people who just want to create a 3 ring circus
that revolves around stupidity. Why don't you come over?
...and anyone else who wants to actually deal with real issues with other real believers is also welcome.
Check it out.
