Good article. I think it's instructive that so many people who see God's will for them to "prosper" in the American cultural use of that word fall for these type of schemes. I am convinced that in many churches, especially those of a non-denominational, pastoral rule, WoF stripe, the teaching on tithing and giving itself is not much more than a pyramid scheme. This propagates little more than making faith in God a "get rich quick" scheme and feeds greed.

I think Greg Feste did that at EN for years. The good part of the Saddleback is that Rick Warren had nothing to do with it and he did not know about it. The bad part in EN, they promoted Greg Feste and had him preach all over the world.
