If you can't beat him, join him.

Anyone wanting to respond to Jons threads any further can add them here..
..and for anyone who has questions to him still pending may also start it here.

Jon .. Why are you so keen to move debate away from behaviour of EN to Theological differences ?
The reason some of your questions remain unanswered is because your shutting the door on the reason why people are here, to highlight abusive or unbiblical behaviour. There are others who challenge the theology and some who are both.
Shuttings doors on peoples experiences, whether you believe them or not, is like driving the wrong way down a one way street and getting angry with people who continue driving the same way they were.

Question for you...

If unbiblical behaviour in a church cannot be proven to stem from theological flaws in the church, does that mean the unbiblical behaviour should be tolerated, kept quiet, not expressed and as you seem to repeatedly do ... make it a subject for ridicule, patronise and undermine ?

Oh an about your Purple Book bet...
I used your challenge as a reason to get it out again and look. Sure enough there is nothing that specifically says this is an unaccompaniment to bible reading but is very prescriptive. The 2.5 page introduction by Broocks comprises 1.5 pages of him talking about an experience he had whilst on a mission.
Interesting though that within the book I found 3 A4 pages of questions and answers that I was asked to complete whilst on a singles camp 2 years ago. Approximately 60 Questions grouped under headings such as "Generational Curses" questions requiring you to tick each one indicating the level to which relates to me, such as have I had an abortion, fantasize etc. The list is then reviewed by your cell leader, refusal to share is seen as rebellious.
Thanks for putting the challenge out there, it really brought back to me the reasons why that singles camp was the last time I opened the book and not long after I felt that this church was not for me.
Sorry if i can't find anything in the bible that says a cell leader and church shouldn't expect you to confess to drinking alcohol or having parents who are divorced. I guess that makes me un-christian. Oh dear.

My question to Jon, Why did you leave EN? Obviously you believe there are legitimate and Biblical reasons for leaving a church. Would you care to elaborate?

Thanks,
Anne
