For those of us who feel led and can; let's plan on a fast for all of 2005, at least one meal a day; or whatever form the Lord gives you for it. Those who have left and those still in - for the Lord to reign in the lives of us all; if He intends people to come out or return; for His will for each person. C'mon Carl, you could join in this too. This is a declaration of spiritual war. May God's will be done in His House. Will you settle for less? Our battle is not against flesh and blood; though certainly flesh and blood are used to wage it. Seek the bringing down of the principalities and powers and all that they have planted. Respond to this. Commit yourself if God's tugging at you. I dare you!

For medical reasons I am not allowed to fast, but I have committed myself to God to stay focused in prayer on the children and teens at GGWO... that they be spared the abuses, that parents eyes will be opened, that the perpetrators of these unholy crimes are caught and made accountable, that children caught in the snare like a wounded rabbit will scream a scream so loud and awful that they can no longer be ignored...my prayer, my tears and my energies such as they are I commit to God's children at GGWO.

Its a Godly and legitimate idea
fasting and praying has eased this way out of GGWO
and helped maked the way clearer for myself and a few that I know.
Its a good way to hear from God when done properly.

Roberta, It's possible to fast from things other than food. If you want to do it, seek the Lord for a creative sense of what's right for you.

Why wait until 2005?

I appreciate a godly suggestion for once. I think many on this board have completely discredited themselves by doing what they hate others are doing. The swearing, mocking, judging, maligning..which is telling the truth about someone behind their back, only proves the motives are not pure in wanting a solution here. I came on this board to find some understanding and to see if I can find healing or help someone else. What I have seen is that anyone who writes anything is going to be attacked. I do not see how that is a healing process. So, prayer and fasting sounds good to me. You would be surprised in who I am and I am not at liberty to say. But, I join you on a common ground in prayer.

I started this. I'm waiting till 2005 because I'm already fasting this year for a particular individual. I do one meal a day (at least), and it's doable for me.

Post here if you're willing to pray about whether or not you'll do it. You don't have to commit. Just be open to the Holy Spirit. But keep this idea alive. The Lord is the One Who has solutions. We really need to seek Him.

Whatever else these mad (as in insane) people can do, they can't stop you from communing with God. He is the only real answer to their disease. He is the One Who is your Shepherd. Bob

I will most definately pray for guidance. I think it is a wonderful idea. I will pray on what to fast there are sure enough things I could sacrifice. Iz

Hebrews 3:15 "Then while it is [still] called Today, if you would hear His voice and when you hear it, do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion [in the desert, when the people provoked and irritated and embittered God against them]."
6Seeing then that the promise remains over [from past times] for some to enter that rest, and that those who formerly were given the good news about it and the opportunity, failed to appropriate it and did not enter because of disobedience,
Hebrews 4:7 "Again He sets a definite day, [a new] Today, [and gives another opportunity of securing that rest] saying through David after so long a time in the words already quoted, Today, if you would hear His voice and when you hear it, do not harden your hearts."

God is so faithful. If we go before Him with open hearts, seeking his ends rather than our own; He will let us know his voice. He wants to guide us. He wants to give us the ways to make things work on His terms. He wants to inhabit the Household of God and express His nature and character through it. He wants the lost, the poor and hungry, the confused, the abused. He wants each of us.

I'll join the fasting and praying.

My specific requests are:

1. for those wounded and needing healing and restoration, that God would minister to them
a special touch of His love and compassion.

2. for repentence and then healing for those others who hold unforgiveness, resentments and bitternesses in their hearts, for things that aren't right to be made right,

3. for truth to be shown, and if anything has been covered up that it would be made known, and for those who have falsely represented things, that the Holy Spirit will bring them to repentence

4. for Gods will to be done in all our lives.

5. for souls to be added to the kingdom of God.

I do pray we all hear Gods voice and that we know His leading/plan or direction for our lives. I mean that from my heart.

The beauty of fasting is not limited to food. A fast is to clear the mind so that we can hear clearly and communicate with God, listen to His voice.

A quiet room, no radio, tv, tapes or music is also fasting. It is so cleansing and refreshing.
Just sit, kneel or lie down quietly and wait to hear His voice as you meditate on Him and His promises.

We bring Him the matter, let Him speak, leave it with Him, enjoy Him, and the matter will be taken care of by Him, His way, His time, simply because His child asked.

"Come as a little child" Enjoy, delight in the Lord without distraction, it is a clean place, a pleasant place, a cleansing place, a growing place and a peaceful place.

I close my eyes and picture myself on my Father's lap whispering in His ear, and I know His full attention is on me at that moment and it brings such joy and rest to my weary soul and I am quickened.

He is our resting place. Delight in Him. Psalm 109:4 in the original simpley says in the latter part of the verse:

"I prayer" we are a prayer unto God.

Isaiah 65;24 He knows, He hears, He answers, He is faithful to His very own plan.

Count me in as I said back in July. I agree with Bob that this is the way to go, and I love the suggestion that those who can't do a "food" fast that God would creatively lay something on their hearts to do instead.

There are many things out there that prayer and fasting can take care of, as we all know.

Its time the church (and I don't just mean GGWO I mean Christians everywhere) took an introspective look at where they are at with the Lord. How many so called "Christians" truly have a one-on-one surrendered life to the Holy Spirit? Surrendered to the point where He leads and guides us in all things, even to the point of our surrender to Him knowing that He is everything we could ever want or desire, the very breath that we breathe.

More and more I am finding that as I purpose in my heart daily to surrender my life unto the Lord completely and with utter abandonment of my will, each day it becomes so much easier in my morning devotional time as my heart knits with His.

Without the Lord Jesus Christ leading us by His Spirit life is virtually worthless in the natural realm. The Holy Spirit is so present and so real and He so deeply desires to commune with us more and more...but it takes that surrender of everything within us to begin that new and precious life in Him.

I used to think there was so much more to Christianity years ago and I began to search and search..looking for any kind of "surrendered life" until I found some books sharing testimonials of those who have lived this surrendered life in the Holy Spirit. Madame Jeanne Guyon and Andrew Murray were the first ones I read up on years ago, and are re-reading their books now. Recently a friend gave me a book written by William Law and that too has provoked many questions in my heart in regards to having and living a life led by the Holy Spirit each and every day. They gave everything up to have that surrendered life in the Holy Spirit.

I want it more and more each day. As I have tasted and seen that life in the Holy Spirit is so real and so tangible and so available for anyone who truly hungers and thirsts after it...I can't help but feel so overwhelmed at the number of Gods people who know nothing of just how amazing this life in the Holy Spirit can be. I want it manifesting more and more each day that I focus my life daily on Him the best that I am able to do!!

Sure we fall into sin in our human nature. I right now wrestle with anger and hurt over the things done to me at the hands of the leaders in GGWO. It doesn't mean I've lost that desire for that Spirit led life to be manifested in me. Yeah the enemy can really try to attack your thoughts too when you are weak and frail. The Holy Spirit doesn't beat us down farther if we fall. He loves us unconditionally and is right there with loving arms to pick us up and stand us upright on our feet before Him.

Fasting led by the Spirit brings results. If God is leading you to join in with those that are led to fast and pray, thats great. If you aren't led to do it, no condemnation!! Be free to do as the Holy Spirit leads you.

One thing the Holy Spirit just quickened me with is that this life in the Holy Spirit is a day by day process of Him forming Christ in us more and more each day.

Nothing unites us to Jesus Christ or to one another except it is done by the work of the Holy Spirit within, and, by that same Holy Spirit dwelling within us.

As we prepare to gorge ourselves with excellencies of various sorts, consider this anew. Let's declare war on our true enemy as one Body, in or out. Let's claim the places and ways to be given us by the Holy Spirit. Let's claim his love between us as our heritage. Are we to be God's territory or His enemy's playground? Some come out only with prayer and fasting. Let's do it.

Amen Bob!

And the beautiful thing is that prayer and fasting first gets things out of the one praying and fasting so we can see more clearly oursleves.

When the Bridegroom comes back, we won't need to fast anymore. Now is your big chance. Think of a fast as a feast in the Spirit; seeking for food not aquired through human hands. Hold out for God's touch in people's lives; for His desired ends for them. Enter the dance of his concerns. Allow Him to impress your heart with the parameters of His goals. Wait on Him.

In golf or baseball, the effectiveness of the swing has a lot to do with following through on it; having a whole swing and not stopping part way. Now that all kinds of good things seem to be transpiring, those who make it their business to pray and/or fast should follow through. There's much more possible. Don't stop. Keep waiting on God, imploring, seeking His mercy and correction for all. The other guy hanging on the cross just might repent. With God, all things are possible.
