View Full Version : God told me to send this

When someone tells me 'God told me' I usually don't listen real attentively. Maybe that is why I am where I am, doing what I am doing rather than being an amazing man of God. But...

I believe that using that 3 word phrase is unnecessary and potentially very, very dangerous.

If God uses a dog like me (Ecc 9:4) to speak, He will be heard by the intended ears (hearts) without using that phrase. If what I say is not from God, then to use the phrase is to misrepresent God and His Holy Spirit. Wow, that sounds awful to me. Is there anything worse than to misrepresent God this side of the grave. (Please tell me if there is.)

I don't want to use that phrase for another, much smaller reason. I don't want to put others in a box. Or if it is about myself that I say I have heard from God, I may be putting God and myself in a box. Not wise.

If you wonder why I called this thread 'God told me to send this' in light of what I have said here, this is my disclaimer, 'I HAVE NO IDEA IF THIS IS FROM GOD.'

If it is, take it to heart. If it is not throw it away on a dung hill.

Sincerely,

Duncan

"I believe that using that 3 word term is unnecessary and potentially very, very dangerous."

I agree. Also the phrase "The Holy Spirit told me to share this."

"He will be heard by the intended ears (hearts) without using that phrase. If what I say is not from God, then to use the phrase is to misrepresent God and His Holy Spirit."

You are indeed as wise a man as I have been told, Duncan. I apologise for my rudeness to you on another thread. I am far to quick to judge (something I am convicted about daily), and I am sorry, for you are obviously someone with true wisdom form what I have read of you so far on the board.

Roberta, you are too kind. I have no clue what I am and only part of a clue who I am in Christ.

If I took offense at what was said to me about me I would have no clue what Ps 119:165 (KJV) means.

God protect us all from ourselves, the devil and the world. (in that order, in my opinion)

PS Only God has the right to forgive. For me to forgive anyone, I must be better than they are. If David can confess that it was against God and Him alone he had sinned, who am I to think anyone sins against me. (See my first posting for my disclaimer.) (I hope David repented to those that were affected, too.)

In my opinion me forgiving anyone is for my sake mostly for unforgiveness breeds bitterness. Repenting for my sins is for me because, if it is true repentance, it frees me from sins penalty and to become more like Jesus.

Sin affects the person and most often others.

Roberta, I owe you an apology. It's been bothering me all day. Sorry that I did not accept your apology. I hope you understood what I was saying.

I did not mean that if I sin against you (or anyone) that I don't need to repent. That was not the point.

God bless.

Well, I read a lot on FN, that FN goes well, etc. because this is God's work.
Is saying "God brought you here to FN" much better then "God told me that"?
