I can offer a few..
My daughter Jennie attends Baltimore Lutheran, it is a middle school and high school; college prep and very academic.
My grandson, Jack goes to a Methodist Nursery school in Timonium. Another excellent program and is the school Gov. Erlich's son attended until they moved to Annapolis.
Mountain Christian, Perry Hall Baptist and Classical Redeemer in Kingsville are very good schools also.

Opinion > GGCA high school is doing just fine. There are some problems that need to be fixed, but the kids are getting a good education.
Facts > GPAs are in line with SATs and above average kids are having no trouble being accepted to fine colleges. Baltimore Lutheran is $8200 per year for high school and GGCA is $3200. Redeemer is $4800. Mountain Christian goes up to grade 8 according to their website and Perry Hall does not give list the tuition on the website, but does go to grade 12.

It's not all about the benjamins.
If the Jehovah's Witnesses had a *really* good school and offered FREE tuition, would you send your kids there?
Also, there are two tuition rates.
One rate is for those who will commit to attending three services per week.
There is another much higher rate for those who will not attend three services per week.

As a Former teacher at the Newark Greater Disgrace school I can tell you the GPA are tweaked, a little too much, the test scores were a bunch of poppycock too. These schools are training kids for one purpose only- to attend the equally full of crap Bible college. Every high school student that left the school had to retake or never had basic classes needed. Please pass the kool-aid and make mine a double. Another thing that makes me ill is someone knowing the entire sordid saga of this cult, then send thier kid to the youth group because she has a friend in there..uhhhhhm duhhh invite the kid over if shes that close of a friend.
lmao (lmao)

heather, GGCA isn't Newark. You cannot tweak SATs. If a kid who gets straight A's only does average on SATs, that would indicate a problem.
Anon-brief, Benjamins start to matter when you have two or three kids. GGCA does not have two tuition rates. There are different prices for diferent grades and you can get a 5% discount if you pay in full by the first day of school.

LMAO,
When considering schools approximately three years ago, a friend who had children attending GGCA suggested it to me for my children.
I drove with her to GGCA, where she went inside and obtained some materials for me.
Included in those materials were TWO rates for tuition - one rate for those who attend GGWO and another for those who did not.
(Actually, there is nothing at all unusual for two tuition rates. Every parochial school I have received information from offered a discount for church members. In fact, two of them did not charge tuition for the children of church members. One has since discontinued this policy and now offers a discount.)
That's about as plain as I can state it. Perhaps this does not reflect your experience; however, it does reflect mine - believe it or not.
In the real world it is a choice to either accept or reject something as truth; however, your belief or disbelief will not change my reality.
Further, having two children myself, I am fully - and sometimes painfully - aware of the costs associated with providing them with a good education; however, there is no amount of money, percentage of discount, or financial incentive worth either exposing or subjecting my children to the mind-numbing tactics of a destructive religious-based personality cult. PERIOD.

Just to set part of a record a little bit straighter, the GGCA administration was not "training kids for one purpose only - to attend the equally full of crap Bible college". The Baker's own kids went elsewhere to legitimate higher education institutions. They now have lucrative and interesting "secular" jobs. Their academic education in high school was all that it needed to be to qualify for any prestigious higher learning institute. I know for a fact that many other young people who went there also went on to attend non religious colleges of high caliber. It was encouraged.
So while I don't know much about the "religious" side of their education, the academics were there for those who wished to participate.
Things are seldom what they seem.

We have really enjoyed having our son in a Classical Christian school for the last two years (8-9th grades). The easiest way to describe it is as a Protestant version of Catholic schools, but there's a lot more involved beyond that. Thomas is learning Latin, logic, and rhetoric, as well as the regular subjects. In history he reads and analyzes a lot of source documents, which is incredibly challenging. Recently he had to read Edmund Burkes's "Reflections on the French Revolution." Try it for your self at http://www.bartleby.com/24/3/
The transition to such learning from homeschool and then an ACE school to this style was frankly difficult for Tom and us. At the lowest point the headmaster had a meeting with him and all his teachers. Instead of an extended discussion of the problems, he inquired tenderly but pointedly as to what was happening in our son's soul and then we all prayed seriously for him. The turnaround was remarkable. I know the extra hours of overtime on my part and study on his are worthwhile when he watches TV and routinely identifies the logical fallacies and spiritual slant on what we're watching.
You can learn more at www.accsedu.org (http://www.accsedu.org). I've included the list of ACCS members in Maryland. I don't know anything about the individual schools there but it's a place to start if you're interested. You may also contact me at minutus@gmail.com if you'd like to learn more.

Thanks everyone for all of the information. Please keep this in prayer for our family. I am in major sticker shock right now. We have two little ones and I'm a stay at home mom so money is unfortunately an issue.
Thanks minutus for all the info on classical christian schools. This might have to become my first choice. We just need to pray for the finances to come through.
I'm learning that this is a personal decision for everyone, just like choosing a church.
Thanks again!!!

I went to public schools, and I've never been the same since. Then again, I was never the same before either. I wasn't even the same during. Every day all those molecules were swirling around, deliberately trying to deceive me. Sorry, Will. Seriously, though. Both my kids spent time in Christian schools, and they weren't really morally much better than the public ones. They tended to be legalistic and stifling to creativity. My daughter had it better in a Catholic school after we gave up on the one she'd been in. You might want to consider that as an option. Also, they were very patient with out inability to pay on time. Eventually we were able to clear up the bill. The teachers were very sweet and reasonable, and the priest associated with the school was a Spirit filled guy. My experience with Catholics has found them to be very humane, caring people who love God. And you don't have to be part of their program.

I just checked out the website for GG's Discovery School ( the middle and high school?). They are moving from their previous location to Moravia Park Drive. Is this because of lower attendance?
Anyone have any info on this?

Itsahokes, what you say is absolutely true. The GGCA run by the Bakers was an excellent school, run by super qualified, couple of integrity. They have degrees out the whazoo, and most importantly, they had vision. They were one couple that ran their "ministry" the way the bible meant it to be run, not under the cultish values of GGWO.
Funny and true story: In the recent past, Danny once was called by "higher ups" and told not to fellowship with a "disaffiliate". Danny asked these 2 jokers to hold on, got the "disaffiliate on his cell phone, had a 5 minute conversation, just loving him up, afterwards going back to the jokers line and said No one tells me to mark people, and hung up on them.
The school grew and grew under their vision, but now they have moved on. Its a new year with new leadership, so who knows what is going to happen. Its a whole new ball game!!!
