Sandy B... great to have you on. Gosh.. how cool!!!
Blast, it would be wonderful to see Gretch again. I am glad her and her family are doing well. She was a true believer!!!
Those basketball games were hillarious... here was little Lisa Schaller (before Schaller) spiritual, quiet, peaceful, submissive, drawing blood from the rest of us on the basketball court. Diane and I laughed at the "little demon". Where the hell did she come from? LOLOL
Are the Martellucci's still in Baltimore?

Yes, the Martellucci's in Baltimore.
Bev has taught English in GGCA for years. Both my older two had her and loved her to pieces. Roberta still attends also, as does Mrs. Martellucci. Dear Mr. Martellucci passed away a couple of years ago.

Lana my friend, are you joining us in August?
I hope so, Ralph Wells is storing up hugs and I don't think I will have time to talk to anyone unless I can share some of them with you.
Thinking of you today.
P. Wells, kiddo is looking forward to those hugs, but don't stop me from swimming or interrupt my ingestion of LOBSTAH! There will be serious consequences if you do. I might sing with you, Lord what a trial that would be for you!
love, kiddo, i mean..well you know who I mean...

Hi Sandy. So wonderful to "hear" from you. If you'd like to email me, I'd love to learn how things have been/are with you. And I'd be happy to catch you up a bit on myself. I'm in Colorado for now. You may also want to check out the "email addresses" thread. Lots of people there.

God has to have a sense of humor, I'm convinced.
As I read some of the notes on facnet I am laughing hysterically. At times I think the laughter is freeing me from things I didn't realize I was still hurt by. Wounds from the past and my experience at TBS. Friendships that I thought were gone forever and wasn't sure why.
I have such found memories of the early days of my walk with God. Memories of so many people that made huge impressions on my young and impressionable mind. hmmm... I learned a lot!!
The people that were sincere and loved me with God's love. Lana, Bobby, Patty M., Ed M, Marty, Deb, Mike G, Gretchen, Billy A., the Martelluci's, Lisa Schaller, BJ, Steve Q, Joel, even Bill Starr! Even Bob Saprano! whatever happened to him? I could never figure him out, but oh well, there were a lot of those people in the Bible Speaks! I'm sure most of you don't realize how big of an impression you made on my life at that time. I was a young 18 when I joined in. Now some 20+ years later here I am.
I know I came across this website for a reason.
It has reignited something inside of me that I haven't felt in a long time. That deep love that God has for all of us. I am in awe at his faithfulness through my life and the lives of all of you! I am so glad that so many of us have had "normal" successful lives after the TBS/GG days.
It will be a blast to see all of you at the reunion. I am still trying to figure out who some of you are? offshore? anova? do I know you?

Blastfromthepast
Bob Saprano is still attending GGWO, still singing.
If I may ask, where do you live?
By the way I love that you rejoice in the faithfulness of God in your life.
I think sometimes we get so wrapped up in the circumstances that we don't seem to see the grace of God in all of it.
He truely does love us, He truely does care for us, and truely follows us where ever we go.

You all have a wonderful time in August at the get together. Unfortunately I wont be able to make it. http://www.factnet.org/discus/clipart/sad.gif But I will certainly be thinking of all of you.

Bonnie...I must know you. Your name sounds familiar, too...
I went to the local high school and got saved my Sr. year when Gretchen Benoit came in and "recruited" a bunch of us young "towny rebels". What really caught my attention, other than my new found love for God, was the womens basketball team. I came along with one of my best friends..J. Boston.
J & I moved to Lenox in '76 to play on the womens softball team.
Where are you now?

Blast, I'm in The Berkshires.I now live in Pittsfield. I'm Mike Cary's Sister. He used to hang around with Phil kalenbeck, Bruce pool, Dickie Howland. Poppa and Momma Cary were my parents. I Married Jeff Brace in 74, way back when every one was getting married. (we divorced about 5 years ago) My big thing was working with the kids in Sunday School, Bus minsitry and Jr. Church. I was always working with kids.

I was around in the Lenox days, just before the mid 80's. Just 12 at the time. I also visited
S Berwick on the weekends sometimes for the teen get togethers, though I wasn't quite a teen yet, pre-teen you could say. That was in the years of 83 and 84. Then near the end of 84 we moved to Lenox.
Bonnie, I to was one of those ones who was always with the little ones.

Joyce... did you say B&B ? Well, I haven't had breakfast in bed ONCE since I've been here. The early morning songfests I can deal with, but it's the 24/7 drone of Inez Smith records in the background that is driving me really crazy. My left cheek is swollen from Offshore pinching it and saying "you're precious". And she keeps trying to get me to wear this nasty orange toupee with lime green stains on the edges saying it will give me an annointed look. The whole place is arranged in "catagorical doctrine" order and we have to be extremely careful to respect the rules. I knew before coming that there were problems and I thought I could help. Unfortunately, I am being held at arms length. They just refuse to receive any kind of love or correction. I guess the only thing left to do is shake the dust off my feet and leave!

I remember the 25c redemption for clothes in So. Berwick. I was being paid 10.00 a week to work full time... and then had to fork back over close to 5.00 to get them back. There were some weeks when the stuff wasn't worth it, they would put it in the basement lost and found and I would get it back for free....

I found some pretty good clothes in the basement.
It is with shame I confess...I was a dorm grinch too for the 3rd floor girls dorm in So. Berwick. Does anybody remember the surprise meeting I had with all the girls in the chapel at midnight...to straighten everybody out? Yep, I woke the girls up to schlep down to the chapel for a meeting. OMG, when I think of that, what was I thinking? I am so sorry and need to apologize to everyone RIGHT NOW. Forgive me. I am so sorry. What a dunce I was. I was relieved of my position, almost immediately. I didn't tell the higherups I was going to have a meeting, I just DID it. LOLOL.
We could make a new drink for the reunion...call it a "cult on the rocks".

I'll drink to that!! And then maybe some more! What a**'s we were!
I remember once when we had a theif in the dorm in So Berwick and Dean Lewis getting us out of bed late one night. He screamed and pounded the walls and had us lined up on either side of the corridor. It was so humiliating being out there like that and having him walk up and down, up and down.......I don't think anyone confessed.

Here is a clear one I remember: Carleluia began going to some quack doctor in Wakefield, MA. In the spirit of copying whatever Carleluia did because he was so 'right on', I remember reading the book 'Sugar Blues' and eating brewer's yeast and desiccated liver and taking all kinds of vitamins and minerals. I remember being in the women's bathroom trying to eat a tablespoon of desiccated liver and gagging. It is weird to acknowledge how totally brainwashed I allowed myself to become. The desiccated liver was similar to eating silicban mushrooms grown in cow dung but at least you get a bang for your buck with siliciban.
Remember, the lady named Lee who lost all that weight through Weight Watchers. She started a weight loss group using the Weight Wathcers diet but it had to be renamed Temple Builders.
So much of the stuff I remember seems like CHS was always testing depths of loyalty and control he had over people.

Well, Gooollleee Sarge........lol whitehorses you are so funny.
I used to hate those dorm meetings....all you heard was how crummy your room looked and how we were slobs. I was proud of my slobby room! I liked the lived in look.

Louise.
I can't stop laughing at your last post. I am laughing so hard I am heaving.
When you said the weight loss group had to change their name to temple builders, I pictured all these womens in leotards exercising to the hymn,
"How firm a foundation."
And the dessicated liver, is that where the doctrine of the dessucation of pyramids was born?
Ya think?? Oh no we didn't have to think, I forgot. Sorry. Won't happen again.
I've got tears coming down my face now...your story is the stuff great comedy is made out of. Makes me want to write a routine for the reunion.
Thank you so much for the belly laugh.
mrsdrysdale,
I hope you are not behaving....I have spies in high places. In the dorm in Lenox, I think it was Martins, people were always ratting me out for staying up late reading. I really blew up at them one night and they got Linda C. God bless her, she defended me actually. I guess that really ate at the "good little christian girls" who were playing police. Oh and if you like the lived in look come to my house, it's got everything, lived in and died in all wrapped in one. It's quite an achievement...my own version of feng shuai, more like flung disarray!
It always amazes me when I can laugh, for so long I could hardly smile. Some things I will never take for granted again.
Thanks girls...

sojo....lol I used to read late at night too...but you have to put a towel against the door so the light doesn't shine thru! lol And yes, I am not behaving, I never do! Why just yesterday I decorated the outside of my neighbor's house with birthday stuff. She was so embarrassed. She didn't like it when I sang to her in the restaurant either! oh well. You gotta have fun in life.

Better feel people out before you slap the howdy thing on them, especially if you head north.

mrsdrysdale ya know dahrlin you and I could tear up this town in no time come to think of it....I always embaressed my friends...it's good for them.
Louise,
We must get together before too much time goes by think it over...I never laughed so hard...of course it was late and you had to be there. If you had been here we would have been on the floor all night like teenagers at a pajama party. Do you remember times like that, total comic relief.
Well hate to get regious, but a merry heart doeth good like medicine. (I felt bad for King James,he really has been taking it on the chin lately, hence, I included, the "doeth")

OK, we are getting down to the wire. Does anyone know how to get hold of Janet Koenig. I hear she is married and living in Portland.
Also Maureen and her husband that left in Baltimore. She was in the girls dorm and married this really funny happy hearted man. Maureen worked with Bruce in the Bookstore.
I have heard that Phil Cote may be going to the reunion. Man, what an amazing guy he was. Phil, if you are reading, I really do hope you come!!!
Anyone else we can find before August 6?
How about that fellow from Bath Maine (gosh I am bad with names)... who married the sweet girl (boy you all will really know who I am talking about now LOL) he was the editor of the magazine in Lenox and was instrumental in the Martin REport, etc., a close friend to Steve Q. I believe he got his doctorate and is teaching in a well known Christian college. I always felt bad because I shunned him and his wife when they left the ministry. Would love to apologize to them.
Also Mike Graves?

Please bring your own wine glasses and beverages!! (If it is alcohol, you must keep it unopened in your car, in the State of Maine).

Had a nice talk with Nancy Berd, she is not cultified, Louise, thank God. She married her high school sweetheart about 10 years ago, living in Vermont, and had a baby Collin about 7 years ago. She is doing great and would love to come to the reunion. She also did not know about Factnet.
Ron Kelly is preaching in a church in PA and would love to come, however, he doesn't think he will be able to with the church and all.
Did someone say Joanne McNally was coming to the reunion? I would love to see Kathy McCook too. How about Terry with the wild laugh. Does anyone know where she is?
I will try to hunt up Janet K this weekend.
whatsup (whatsup)
07-13-2005, 06:17 PM
So, Louise, I am not Nancy Bird and I am not Kathy McCook either....I did know them both. I saw Kathy McCook, now Kathy Scarpa, at Grace Chapel in Lexington, MA a few years ago...saw her husband Frank there too, but don't know if they are still there as I have not been there in a long time.
I will say that after reading the Judge Queenan verdict, I feel so ashamed and foolish for ever having been part of that church. Also the account of P.Stevens' escapades with those women. He is such a deceitful con man, and to think that he used God to deceive and keep people, it is just despicable. I wonder why God did not strike him dead years ago. How could so many people be fooled for so long, with all the corruption that went on behind the scenes there. I am not a stupid person but apparently am a gullible one. I am ashamed that I was there for years, sent my child to the school and camp, defended the church to my family who saw through it from the beginning, gave so much of my life to it.
I used to think that the more angry and aggressive posters here were overreacting a little, but the more I read the more I see that no amount of outrage would be too much for the disgraces that went on at TBS/GGWO.
The fact that so many intelligent and godly people were also decieved makes me feel a little less foolish but not much

Hi everyone,
The reunion officially starts at 10 Am on Saturday morning; however, it's completely up to you as to what time you want to show up. People will be coming and going all day. The part of the park we have rented is going to be posted at the entrance.
If you are coming, and you have not sent in your fee, ($10.00 per person), please do that ASAP. We still have costs that need to be covered.
Mail it to:
Offshore Designs
P.O. Box 58
Limerick, ME 04048
If it's last minute, the person at the Tee shirt table will take your check. That's where the name tags will be anyway.
If you want to play volleyball or throw a few horseshoes, please bring it along with you.
I’ve been told that Bruder will be supplying the music on CD’s, (Jeannie, do ya think it’ll be Irish?), but feel free to bring your guitars, if you want to jam. We can’t have a live band…because others will be there enjoying the park too. We have to be a little considerate. We want to talk and have a lot of fun anyway, right??
Remember to bring your lunch and "drinks ( No, Marty will not be selling hotdogs!)
The grills, utensils, napkins, cups, plates, and condiments will be supplied. There are plenty of great restaurants in Freeport or in the Old Port, for dinner.
Bring your TBS/GGWO pictures, paraphernalia, and memorabilia.
Email me with any questions, so we can address anything we need to in advance.
There should be handicapped parking, but let me know if you have concerns, or need assistance.
I never dreamed I’d ever see so many of you again! See you in 2 weeks.

The weather here is going to be perfect for the reunion, and the entire weekend. Clear and Sunny, in the low 80's during the day, and in the 50's at night.
See you in 2 days!

Betsy can't make it.
We recently saw she and Jonas, and they are doing great.
They are very down to earth, and Betsy is a truly gracious, sweet woman.

David,
Tell Maysie we are mindful of her and keeping her close to our hearts. Pray for my Mother. I live next door to where she is staying since my accident. She is very dizzy and loses her balance, plus she is watching the dog who will be missing me. (Cassie is like a child to me, she thinks I am another dog!) Please pray for their safety and for people to check in on my Mom during the day. I always come down with separation anxiety. When you take care of someone 24/7 for three years plus, it is second nature to fear leaving them.
Love you too David, I am glad you are there for your Mom, even though we will miss you.
P.S.
My former boyfriend lives not too far from you in Houlton. Maybe one day you could meet him. He is a Vietnam Vet and lives in a cabin he built. I have never been there. We dated back in the seventies when we both were in U. Mass.
He's had it rough, post traumatic stress from the active duty. Never got over it. He was in a cult for years too. An Eastern one and it was a doozy. I left him for "my cult experience" which was posing as the truth.

Have peace while you are at the reunion.

Should I, or shouldn't I.

Just in the area, ...eight hours away!

Linda,
I can understand why you might have cold feet and jitters. But you know what? I think it's going to be OK.
There are so many who would love to see you. There are so many of us who have made it out and survived, even thrived. This will be a great time of affirming the truth and goodness in our lives that have won out over the darkness and shame.
The person that you are combined with your recent departure after your years of involvement could bring an immediacy and poigniancy to our gathering that would be very special.
I hope you come.

It was a great reunion. Great to meet everyone and hear their stories - especially those I didn't know would be there like Frank Manchester, who has much to add to our knowledge of "the old days".
And then to listen to this morning's service from Baltimore and hear that really nothing has changed from TBS to GGWO. Schaller preached on "the house of God" and at the end explicitly asked everyone to come to the house of God for the evening service. Um, GGWO's doctrinal statement does say "dispensationalist", doesn't it? Funny, Frankford Plaza doesn't look like the third temple to me! How can they claim it's the house of God and still mark those they hurt and drove out over the years?
I'm glad that so many people have gone on with their lives in spite of what TBS/GG has done to them.

The reunion was a special time as we had the opportunity to gather together after many years of life changing experiences. It was good to have finally met those who have been maligned over the years and to hear their stories. They have all moved on with their lives and it's clearly evident through conversation what God has done in their lives. I have been more encouraged speaking with these ex-beakers/ggwo, than any pastor that's still in, because redemption is the heart of God...it rocks!!!! After hearing in raps that pastor would malign certain people like Marty O'Brian, Steve Quinlan,Phil Strout,Bobby O,Jack Leonard, Jack Daly, Frank Manchester, Bill Starr and those who remain anonymous. I have have come to believe that GGWO is a den of liars.
These people truly have a heart after God and they truly want to help people exit cults. They really get the fact that we need to have a relationship with Christ rather than idolizing a man.
Any thoughts on this.

Yes, I have thoughts on this Timeless.
The thing I noticed the most, is that no one was dead from "cancer of the tongue".
I loved seeing everyone, alive, well and talking!!
We all laughed and had so much fun reminiscing about our days in So. Berwick, Lenox, and Baltimore.
Everyone was happy, successful, and going on fully with their lives.
I love that God is a God of Redemption!
Also, the door prizes were great!!
Four Honorary Doctorates from Clarkesville School of Theology, A bunch of cows that said, “ I survived the Herd Mentality, or Have your Herd? I’M OUT??”
Also there was an orange Toupee that Bruder5 won !! ( which he can surely use these days!!)

The old era is done. The decisive inbreaking of the kingdom is happening. The Master Storyteller calls us to action. Many of us understand that in order to free the captive we must name the captivity. Seeing all of you and hearing your redemptive stories calls to mind the tender nature of a Messiah that is drawing a people to himself. Echo's of grace resonates in a gathering of people with extraordinary value. I love the words of Jesus "There is no reason to be afraid little flock, for it has pleased the Father to give you the kingdom." While others would marginalize this gathering Jesus enfolded. I owe a debt of gratitude to all of you. Thanks.

Yup,
he's got it wrong. He thinks the building itself is the house of God.
Good grief. What translation does that come from?
It's not in the King James that's for sure.
It also seemed that he was saying that GGWO was the greatest place on earth.
I'm sure that's not what the apostle Paul would say either.

Just wanted to say it was so great to actually meet you. Your little son is a cuttie too.
Actually, it was wonderful to meet all of you who attended the reunion.
I can actually picture most of you speaking, now that there's a face and a voice behind the posts.
"DEB" It was so wonderful to see you after 19 years.
You know what I really loved, actually hearing the "other side" of the story of those who had left or were driven out. Unbelievable , thats all I can say.
What a great refreshing time.
