Nic; I didn't intend to imply that. I just was relating something I found out conversationally about another whole abuse situation. I don't think that GG is out to kill its people. You can't collect tithes and offerings from the dead. I personally think that all forms of abuse are related; even though the degrees and particular 'manifestations' are different, the character behind them is the same. Pastor Stevens is not Jones. But we can learn by studying a lot of outwardly unrelated cases of the same spiritual disease. But hey; the fact that they had all those guns in Lenox has to make you wonder about the possibility of one nut setting things off, doesn't it? I'm not implying directed things; but just one security guy going off the edge. Is that hard to imagine? And I don't mean to say that that's likely. I don't think it is.

I was implying that the character behind Jones and the character behind the leadership of GG is similar in nature. Death isn't always physical, and there is a trail of destroyed lives and wounds. Jesus said that hating people was the same as killing them. How can the damage be stopped from continuing, and repaired where it has already happened? How can we ourselves avoid both being abused and abusing others? Doesn't being able to recognize the character of abuse behind its actions and words help us to avoid it? Though it's only my humble opinion and I don't know their current financial situation (though it is well documented that school enrollment and church attendence is way down), it's unlikely. However, remember back in the late 80's and early 1990 before the recession when anyone could get a real estate loan? That could happen here. Maybe GG can lease out part of the building to a trash hauler to offset the mortgage? They could use them to haul off all the garbage that's being put forth from the pulpit.

And it came to pass after the plague, that Jehovah spoke to Moses and to Eleazar the son of Aaron the priest, saying, 2 Take the sum of the whole assembly of the children of Israel, from twenty years old and upward, according to their fathers' houses, all that go forth to military service in Israel. 3 And Moses and Eleazar the priest spoke with them in the plains of Moab by the Jordan of Jericho, saying, 4 From twenty years old and upward ...; as Jehovah had commanded Moses and the children of Israel, who went forth out of the land of Egypt. 5 Reuben, the firstborn of Israel: the children of Reuben: [of] Enoch, the family of the Enochites; of Pallu, the family of the Palluites; 6 of Hezron, the family of the Hezronites; of Carmi, the family of the Carmites. 7 These are the families of the Reubenites; and they that were numbered of them were forty-three thousand seven hundred and thirty. 8 And the sons of Pallu: Eliab; 9 and the sons of Eliab were Nemuel, and Dathan, and Abiram. This is that Dathan and Abiram, summoned of the assembly, who contended against Moses and against Aaron in the band of Korah, when they contended against Jehovah. 10 And the earth opened its mouth, and swallowed them up together with Korah, when that band died, when the fire devoured the two hundred and fifty men; and they became a sign. 11 But the children of Korah died not. 12 The sons of Simeon, after their families: of Nemuel, the family of the Nemuelites; of Jamin, the family of the Jaminites; of Jachin, the family of the Jachinites; 13 of Zerah, the family of the Zarhites; of Saul, the family of the Saulites. 14 These are the families of the Simeonites, twenty-two thousand two hundred. 15 The children of Gad, after their families: of Zephon, the family of the Zephonites; of Haggi, the family of the Haggites; of Shuni,the family of the Shunites; 16 of Ozni, the family of the Oznites; of Eri, the family of the Erites; 17 of Arod, the family of the Arodites; of Areli, the family of the Arelites. 18 These are the families of the children of Gad according to those that were numbered of them, forty thousand five hundred. 19 The sons of Judah: Er and Onan; and Er and Onan died in the land of Canaan. 20 And the sons of Judah, after their families: of Shelah, the family of the Shelanites; of Pherez, the family of the Pharzites; of Zerah, the family of the Zarhites. 21 And the sons of Pherez: of Hezron, the family of the Hezronites; of Hamul, the family of the Hamulites. 22 These are the families of Judah according to those that were numbered of them, seventy-six thousand five hundred. 23 The sons of Issachar, after their families: of Tola, the family of the Tolaites; of Puah, the family of the Punites; 24 of Jashub, the family of the Jashubites; of Shimron, the family of the Shimronites. 25 These are the families of Issachar according to those that were numbered of them, sixty-four thousand three hundred. 26 The sons of Zebulun, after their families: of Sered, the family of the Sardites; of Elon, the family of the Elonites; of Jahleel, the family of the Jahleelites.
