If so, then they should not be leaders, according to 1 Tim 3. But the arrogance and maliciousness of certain leaders' precious little ones is, sadly, no novelty to us.
My kids have had told us horror stories from Conventions. They have spoken highly of other leader's kids however - the Wrights', Byrnes', Morins', Pellarias'.

Oh Sam Spade I disagree! Here are some very appropriate Pink Floyd lyrics:
On the turning away
From the pale and downtrodden
And the words they say
Which we won’t understand
Don’t accept that what’s happening
Is just a case of others’ suffering
Or you’ll find that you’re joining in
The turning away
It’s a sin that somehow
Light is changing to shadow
And casting it’s shroud
Over all we have known
Unaware how the ranks have grown
Driven on by a heart of stone
We could find that we’re all alone
In the dream of the proud
On the wings of the night
As the daytime is stirring
Where the speechless unite
In a silent accord
Using words you will find are strange
And mesmerized as they light the flame
Feel the new wind of change
On the wings of the night
No more turning away
From the weak and the weary
No more turning away
From the coldness inside
Just a world that we all must share
It’s not enough just to stand and stare
Is it only a dream that there’ll be
No more turning away
How about it Sam, no more turning away?

Everybody get out your calculators cuz it's gonna be a quadruple match to determine which husband/wife team at GGWO have the greatest age difference between them.
The contestants are:
First, in this corner; Dr. Carl H. Stevens, Jr and his "retro" bride Barbara Baum-Stevens. HINT: According to one source on the boards "Pastor" was 49 years old when he started "hitting on" the 25 year old Baum.
Next we have Mr. Bob Soprano and his Chinese wife Laura. HINT: Sources found on the boards state a 35 year difference between this couple.
In our third corner you will find Mary Jo Williams-Canon and her child, rather, husband Pastor Glenn Canon.HINT:Don't be fooled. Mary Jo can afford a good plastic surgeon. The reality is there are 15 years difference between Mary Jo and her "boy-toy" hubby. Hmmmmm? She could have been his unwed teenage mother or babysitter.
Lastly we have our own pedantic and pontificating Pastor Michael Marr and his "help mate" with "dove's eyes" Susan.
HINT: Though Susan dresses like a frumpy 60 year old "wanna be" she is actually quite a bit younger than our "dear" Juris Doctor. Isn't this wife number five Pastor? Now, now no need for threats of gag orders!
For all of these "sincere" accounts all one can say is...
AIN'T LOVE GRAND!

Please do not assume to know that I attend GGWO. I merely made an observation about the lack of maturity in your postings. What a great witness for Christ this board has become. Seems we could all do much better for the Savior that went to the cross for us. Oh that's right, by the tone of your posting, you seem to serve yourself. Before engaging in all this NONSENSE, you need to take a long look into the proverbial MIRROR.
We are all sinners.
Oh by the way, I certainly do not agree with many things going on at GGWO. That's why my family no longer attend.

You people are so sick its pathetic. You mock cruelly people that Jesus Crist died for, whether you like that person or not, they too have to stand and fall before God like you do. Is degrading people and shaming them publically the "new" thing to do now??? Boy, we can't wait until you reap what you sow
Since you think you ae so darn smrt you have all set yourselves up for a libel suit to be filed against you. What gives you the right to be God??? How dare you say the ugly things you have written here about anyone. You implied that Latasha Brown and Dawn Lewis are lesbians, etc. Just goes to show you whose fruit you portray, and it isn't that of the Lord Jesus Christ either. And you claim proudly to be ministry kids???? I would disown you if you were my kids or rather yet, I'd have you bent over my knees and it wouldnn't be for the cheap thrill that "216" was refering to in regards to our pastor...I'd have you over my knees for a good hiney whippimg. In fact, I'm going to have a friend expose you all by your IP numbers and lets see then who has the last laugh now.

Sam Spade (201.129.145.195)

64,
Please explain how I have "wavered." Simply because I don't accept either the "GGWO is an evil cult" , or the "GGW0 is the best church ever" mode of thinking. Life is just not so simple is it, my friend?
You understood perfectly what I meant too.
Anonymous (64.12.117.20)
06-15-2004, 07:47 PM
Nope I really didn't understand what you meant.
Life is not simple SS, it is complex and so is the subtle manipulation of teachings received at GG. There is no middle ground on this one SS. There are processes to "getting out" and for some it takes longer than others. But you are in the unique position of seeing things and then choosing to decieve yourself into believing it is not that bad. I am sure earlier on, leaders that now spend their days lying, maligning. covering up were, at one time, exactly where you are.
Yes, life is complex, life has many varying shades of black and white. But not on this issue, there is no middle ground. And as a leader in this church, you are accountable. I guess that is too costly for you. So continue to think that when you argue with the leadership or Pastor on this or that doctrine, as you have over the years, that you are making a dent in some of the falsities. Again, you are decieved. All you did is make yourself a marked man with Pastor and the leaders. So stay with those you consider your peers while they consider you something else. Turn your biting wit on those that have been trying to turn on the light for you, those that really care about you. But some sad day you will look back at this time and realize the error of your ways.

64,
You know perfectly well that, on this board, often when somebody posts something outrageously slanderous, other dissidents accuse them of being a "plant" to try to make Factnet look bad. The funny thing is you can't distinguish between the "plants" and the real slanderers. Anyway, it was just a joke.
I appreciate your patronizing "concern" about "turning the light on" for me. I have no misconceptions about neither GGWO, nor my ability to change things. I am not a leader in GGWO, only on the foreign field. I am accountable here, not there, in that respect. I have no voice there, other than as an individual brother. I will remind you that we went through these "processes" some 15 years ago. perhaps we might have something to say about that too, even if it is different from yours?
Whether i am a "marked man" with pastor, or with dissidents as yourself. means little to me. We have leraned, long ago, to phave our hopes, attention, loyalty, and guidance from the jesus Christ through the Holy Spirit.
That is where we stand. We can do nothing else.
I would like to talk with you in private, if that is not too costly for you.
Anonymous (64.12.117.20)

Again SS, I disagree on just about every point. First of all, you are a leader in the sense that any overseeing pastor is in GG. You are accountable because both here at homebase and abroad you represent this church.
And I most certainly regret not listening when certain leaders exiting TBS after the Doveydenas trial tried to turn the light on for me. That was seventeen years ago I turned off the light only to end up here. It is a sad day for me to realize I hushed that voice inside, ignored godly men that cared for my soul and just went merrily along to Baltimore. Oh, if I knew then what I know now!
I also disagree that your stand is with Christ alone. You declared on this forum that you stand with the church. That means you are not standing with Christ because this church is led by corrupt men that counterfeit God.
I have no desire to continue this discussion privately with you, better men than I have tried. It costs me in time and energy and I have absolutely no leading to give you my time and energy.
I find it amusing that you categorize the most outrageous as the slander. The most outrageous posted here concerning Pastor and his enablers is actually the tip of the iceberg dear fellow.
Deny, deny, deny but "we'll keep the light on for ya"

So your pósition is, in essence...
"See it my way or I won't talk to you."
"If you don't see it my way you are deceived."
"If you are with them you are my enemy."
...sounds rather cultic, doesn't it?

Let me interject off topic here: It might be rather interesting if someone translated a Stevens message into Chinese, and then a different person translated it back into English. You'd want one of those 'Hallmark' messages. I don't know Chinese, so I can't help with this; and I'm relatively certain that God will not give me that kind of a gift of tongues for that reason. He already knows what the result would be, so He's not missing anything if it doesn't.

One of my favorites is the prophet sequence in Life of Brian. I especially appreciate this because of how flaky people can get with that stuff in the Assemblies/ Charismatic places. There's nothing like going to pray for someone and having 142 prophetic words said over them. Even though I'm not Jim, and believe in some spiritual reality behind this sort of thing; it goes way overboard.

This FactNet thing is just about the saddest thing I have ever seen in my life. It's pretty horrid and actually frightening that this is all on the internet where anyone can read it ... great testimony of God's love, endurance, patience and forgiveness. No wonder the world is so lost ... their savior's name and his people are like you. And whatever happened to "love your enemy and pray for those who persecute you and say all manner of evil against you," that was in the Bible last I checked. Everyone is "oh, holier than thou" and wants to talk about the great evil in GGWO and how they aren't real christians ... blah, blah, blah. We've suddenly become the JUDGES and persecutors. And all this talk just goes on and on. Venemous, finger pointing and tongue wagging. Its all from the pit of hell. Division and discord. There's some good old fashioned non-GGWO language. You all talk about the sin and hypocrisy. Yet, as I sit here and read this (why I have no idea ... dumbfoundedness probably) it reeks of green putrid dragon breath. Serpantlike eyes glisten with ecstasy at the putridness of its success, the its beautiful seeds of discord and division now beanstalks of hatred and malice. Be silent you breed of vipers. The bible and the gospel does not change because of the failure of man to practice "good religion." Nor does the blood of Jesus Christ cease to purify the sins of ALL men because you dislike or disagree with them. The blood will never loose its power. When did you hang on the cross for the sins of the world??? When did you bleed for them??? Whose side do you want to be on? Because Jesus is the great advocate. There are only two sides. Those who stand in the blood and those who stand against it. No matter what their name is or who they are affiliated with or who they are friends with a believer in Christ is my brother, my sister whether I like them or not. They are COVERED IN THE BLOOD OF CHRIST. If God who is perfect can love them despite their depravity who are you imperfect and stinking of dead flesh to hate them? Shut-up! and just pray or do any of you even believe in prayer anymore. Does Satan have such a grasp of your minds that you have forgotten what its all about?
Its NOT about you!
Or "CHS", or any of them!
ITS ABOUT JESUS!
To much time on your hands! Get off the computer and get in the BOOK.
My mother dragged me to every church we could get to since I was an infant. One thing remains constant. If they Love Jesus thats what matters. And it is not your place to Judge. God will judge them. And God will judge you for your gossip and wicked hearts. Or will He? Will He see YOU ... or Jesus? Who do you choose to see? The apostle Paul said, "I have determined to see Christ in you and Christ alone." Are you greater than he?
Who put you in your seat of judgement?
Judge not that you be not judged!
Try getting out on the street and telling a few lost and dying sinners bound for hell about Jesus and get off your computers. Stop harboring evil in your hearts and just forget about you ... for just a moment.

Thanks for sharing from your heart. You'll probably take a beating for it on here so hang on for the ride!!
Yes, we do want a church that is to His glory and repentence from the leadership that is long overdue.
Some of these people posting are very wounded still and some have never recovered from the abuses they incurred at the hands of the leaders of this ministry.
I have posted on other threads about God's forgiveness and even shared recently the counsel given to me by an awesome godly woman, Vickie Faurie, whose testimony if anyone wants to go hear it can be found on SidRoth.org she spoke on his radio program over a week ago and shared a lot in regards to dying to self, walking in forgiveness and living our lives by the Spirit. She knows ALL the situations that have gone on over the years regarding GGWO, I spent 2 hours on the phone with her and shared GGWO/TBS's history with her. She has her own website, LifeTouchMinistries.org and her phone number is posted there if anyone wants to order her books, or speak to her directly.
God is the only judge that we are to have. Not each other. Its so sad that the body of Christ beats up on its own.
I hope you are spared the "beating" from those on here that aren't led by the Spirit most of the time.

I do NOT know you, but feel that you NEED to listen to your own words and contemplate them for a few minutes. Just an observation, but you seem to be contradicting yourself in LESS than thirty minutes between these two posts on different threads. The distinct contrast just simply jumped out at me. Personally, I think that was a very hurtful thing to say to 'arguendo'. Just my own personal observation and opinion, but this type of thing hurts the cause of Christ and goes against everything that Christ taught. I'm NOT trying to single you out and pick on you exclusively, although I am using you as an example. Far too many HURTFUL things are said here on FACTNet. I strongly feel that FACTNet should be a place for enlightenment in truth, healing, and connection and NOT a place to attack one another constantly.
Peace!

I will here give you an infallible touchstone, that will try all to the truth. It is this: retire from the world and all conversation, only for one month; neither write, nor read, nor debate anything with yourself; stop all the former workings of your heart and mind: and, with all the strength of your heart, stand all this month, as continually as you can, in the following form of prayer to God. Offer it frequently on your knees; but whether sitting, walking, or standing, be always inwardly longing, and earnestly praying this one prayer to God: "That of His great goodness He would make known to you, and take from your heart, every kind and form and degree of Pride, whether it be from evil spirits, or your own corrupt nature; and that He would awaken in you the deepest depth and truth of that Humility, which can make you capable of His light and Holy Spirit." Reject every thought, but that of waiting and praying in this matter from the bottom of your heart, with such truth and earnestness, as people in torment wish to pray and be delivered from it ...If you can and will give yourself up in truth and sincerity to this spirit of prayer, I will venture to affirm that, if you had twice as many evil spirits in you as Mary Magdalene had, they will all be cast out of you, and you will be forced with her to weep tears of love at the feet of the holy Jesus.
Godspeed...

Dear Veritas,
Thank you.
In a way, I was thinking the same thing. It's time to stop for a minute and examine my own life, and that's what I want to do.
We are not going to stop this Cult/Church by
posting here. They will continue..they know how to do what they do...they're not going to stop and factnet won't stop them either.
That's OK with me because I know that God knows them, just like He knows me. I'm OK with that and I am in favor of praying for a season to let God work.
I am signing out. I have enjoyed this list and I will miss it. My humanity is such that I actually picture the people on here. I don’t know most of them..you, but I have a picture in my mind, and I’m going to pray for them and for you. I hope my prayers go up!
I still had some other things to say but I know what you are saying about the pride thing, so I won’t. (Oh God, I can’t stand this!)
I'm going to pray for all of you, especially those of you who are still suffering because of this Cult/Church. May God have mercy on them..and me..and you.
Love, Isabella
P.S. I don't agree about Mary Magdeline though. I hope you would read more about her. Mary Magdeline is not the one to exemplify regarding ‘evil spirits.’ She was, after all, contrite and certainly without this spirit we speak of on these posts.

Thanks for the input. I did post and can see where it could be viewed contradictory. However like you said, you don't know me, so I will share with you my perspective and exactly where I was coming from.
Yes I made the statement you copied to Arguendo, I did it knowingly in my flesh, tired of being beat up by him and Roberta all the time. If you have followed Factnet for any length of time you will see that the hateful posts on here don't just generate from me, and I'm not pointing fingers at anyone, just stating the facts. You think what I said to Arguendo was hateful but you totally ignored what he wrote to me which attacks my character. Its not the first time its been done, by him, or by Roberta. There's only so much a person can put up with and I reached my limit. This is my shortcoming before the Lord and my problem to get over. He stuck his nose in and also alluded to things that were not true.
I have the post that was deleted that Roberta posted the day after Bonnie's car accident. I said it once and I'll say it again here -- someone on here cut and pasted it and sent to me via email, and that person called me on the phone and said it was directed purposely at me. At that point Nancy and I were in tears. We had talked to Bonnie that morning, she never once said "don't call" or "wait a few days" to call. We weren't strangers, we're friends of hers, and we've gotten to be close friends since this past fall. Well, we prayed and then we called Bonnie on the phone, told her about Roberta's nasty post and asked her if she wanted Nancy and I to call her at the hospital. We told her she wouldn't offend us if her answer was "no." I know why Roberta posted the way she did, there were underlying circumstances that are not mine to share in regards to that situation and people involved in it and Roberta was upset, sick and looking out for her best friend and we will leave it at that.
I never got the email with that cut and pasted post until 12 days after it was sent, nor was I aware of the post she made the night before until that 2:00 p.m. phone call about the postings. My DSL modem on out on my computer shut down, and I had no internet access.
Thank you for taking Arguendo's situation to your heart without checking ALL the facts.
In regards to my post to BloodstainedGlasses above, 1/2 hour afterwards that you state is contradictory in nature, I made a statement that the body of Christ beats up on its own. Could you consider for a moment that perhaps the Holy Spirit convicted me reading that person's post??? Well, He did, ok? It is sad that the body of Christ beats up its own. I never excluded myself from being guilty before the Lord of doing this too.
I also warned him/her knowing that post would open a can of worms on here and he/she would be plummeted to death solely based on what was written. Factnet is filthy and ungodly at times, but you need to take ALL the posters into consideration and where they are at in their healing process. If you had seen the post I made to Roberta (the one Arguendo butted into and commented on) and had read it, I stated where I was at quite openly -- grieving and wounded.
Since everyone is now on my back to take these things OFF factnet and on email, why then, Cape Cod did you not email me about this instead? No, just like everyone else, you flamed me too, only you did it gently with "class."
Again, I thank you for the grace you so kindly extended me. Now since my life is so openly viewed from a fishbowl perspective and I'm seemingly being told how to live it when the Holy Spirit does a much finer job of showing me, and/or convicting me...I'm going to go feed my fish if thats ok with everybody here. http://www.factnet.org/discus/clipart/smile.gif

" blah, blah, blah. We've suddenly become the JUDGES and persecutors. And all this talk just goes on and on. Venemous, finger pointing and tongue wagging. Its all from the pit of hell. Division and discord." (from Bloodstainedglasses)
The person has a point, don't they. One to definately consider. This place is a cesspool at times and its worse than when it started. I have to say I agree with the poster above. Hardly any conversation lifting up the Lord. Lots of "self" talk. Self justification. Self Righteousness.
Self Pity. Self Glorification. Self Pontification. Goes along with the pulpit teaching we all sat under and learned well from the master. How about sitting under the feet of the real "Master" like Veritas posted and not being so quick to jump and judge and tear down the very brethren you will spend eternity with?
I have watched posts like this get ignored because people would rather play their games and fight to have control here thinking all the time that this is what the Holy Spirit would have them do. How deceived have we become?
Alas, friends. Quite deceived.

maria_t, you said to me above,
"Thank you for taking Arguendo's situation to your heart without checking ALL the facts."
Maria, I am NOT taking ANYONE'S 'side', as you put it. As I clearly stated above, I do NOT know you personally. I do NOT know 'arguendo' either, however, I know that 'arguendo' is a woman as well as a lawyer. WHY would I be interested in taking 'sides' between two people that I do NOT even know?!? What I take to heart, as you say, is people constantly on the 'attack' in a truly negative way here on FACTNet, of which you're one of a number.
My post above was NOT only directed to YOU, but to MANY others who carry on these attacks on each other via a public forum. As I said above,
"I'm NOT trying to single you out and pick on you exclusively, although I am using you as an example."
Just so you won't feel so singled out, another who I feel is on the attack A LOT is rjfernalld.
I have read enough of your posts and Roberta's posts to see A LOT of negativity coming from wounded spirits. There's no wonder why you two clash so much. Listen, everyone is at different stages of the 'healing process' and I fully realize that fact. I also fully realize that you're both emotionally 'charged' when it comes to many issues here on FACTNet. However, the degree of negativity that comes from both of you is to an extreme at times, in my opinion. I have seen BOTH of you at odds, in an extremely negative manner, with a number of others here on FACTNet, including each other. Personally, I think those types of disagreements should be taken privately. I am responding publicly because all these posts in question are done in a public setting for ALL to witness. Now, on the flip side, I think that you both have truly good hearts and deeply care about your friends and different issues with much passion. I also think that you both have A LOT of good things to say aside from the constant negativity and attacking others who differ from your opinions in any way.
A very intelligent and wise friend of mine said this to me just this morning via email, which I totally agree with....
"A disappointment with TBS was the awful way that conflict resolution was modeled. Someone who disagreed was "from the pit", and subject to character assassination and any kind of dirty fighting by Carl. Way unhealthy. No ability to receive criticism, agree to disagree, or recognize that someone might have an acceptable different point of view (as you pointed out before). That mentality sometimes carries over into FN."
It's one thing to disagree and quite another to attack in an extremely negative way that doesn't seem to care about another's feelings or pain that they inflict whatsoever. I think that we can ALL agree to disagree WITHOUT the barrage of attacks and negativity!!!
maria_t said, "Since everyone is now on my back to take these things OFF factnet and on email, why then, Cape Cod did you not email me about this instead? No, just like everyone else, you flamed me too, only you did it gently with "class." "
I ask you, WHY would I choose to email you personally when it was an issue which YOU decided to post on in a PUBLIC FORUM?!? I do NOT need to know "ALL the facts" as you state above. The so called 'facts' are NOT important to me concerning WHY one Christian tells another Christian to "go play in traffic.", which is a VERY hurtful and cruel thing to say to another and crosses the line so to speak, in my opinion. I did NOT see where 'arguendo' said anything of anywhere near that magnitude to you. To me, telling someone to "go play in traffic" is like telling them to go kill themself.
I did NOT flame you maria_t. I simply pointed out the contradiction of your 'own words' written within 25 minutes apart from each other. I simply wanted you to read your 'own words' and contemplate them for a few minutes.
As I said, "Far too many HURTFUL things are said here on FACTNet. I strongly feel that FACTNet should be a place for enlightenment in truth, healing, and connection and NOT a place to attack one another constantly."
Personally, my wife and I were VERY fortunate and did NOT even have to go through any type of 'healing process' and we left TBS ministry about 25 years ago. My wife and I have been Christians for just shy of 30 years. Over the years, I have seen how Christians devour each other in the name of Christ. I have seen how some try to shove their doctrines down each other's throats in a very forceful manner, which only causes division. Personally, I'll have NO part in all of that C-R-A-P as we ALL have the the right to choose exactly how we wish to believe. Stating one's opinion is one thing, but trying to forcefully make someone else accept our opinion is quite another. However, we do NOT have the right to be on the negative attack constantly with our brothers and sisters in Christ.
I have been reading FACTNet for several months now even though I didn't make my first post until NOT too long after Christmas. The main reason for even my even being here on FACTNet is to reconnect with some old friends from the past. I am NOT here for healing OR spiritual enlightenment. I DO feel sorry for the ones who are here for healing though because they have to try and tolerate so MANY negative and attacking posts from quite a few people here, and this is the ENTIRE point of my post.
Anyway, I have made my point and you can choose to take it or leave it. I will NOT carry on this conversation as I see absolutely NO point in it as I've already said ALL that I wish to on the matter. I'm sure that I've got Roberta ****ed off at me now as well, since I used her as another example of one with a constant barrage of negative attacks here on FACTNet. I'm NOT here to win some sort of popularity contest. I DO feel an obligation to God to speak out when I feel Him telling me to do so. Believe it or NOT, my words in this post are written in love, in obedience to what I feel God has put on my heart, and for my brothers and sisters in Christ. The 'world' is difficult enough of a place for ALL of us to live in. I believe that part of FACTNet's function should be kind of a sanctuary of sorts for believers. A place to be built up and NOT torn down. A place for edification and NOT to be totally exasperated and frustrated. A place to feel the LOVE of God and of other believers and NOT the hurtfulness and hatred of others. We ALL feel enough negativity, hurt, and hate in the 'world', and do NOT need more of the same here, on a Christian site on the WWW, in a very public forum, for all the 'world' to see.
This will be the very first time that I have posted Bible verses on FACTNet. I will NOT make it a habit, but in this case I feel led by the Holy Spirit to do so now. Properly applying God's LOVE is the answer for ALL of us.
Mt5:44 - But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you.
Jn15:12 - This is my commandment, that ye love one another, as I have loved you.
Jn15:14 - Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you.
Jn15:17 - These things I command you, that ye love one another.
1Jn4:21 - And this commandment have we from him, That he who loveth God love his brother also.
1Jn4:16b - God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.
1Jn4:11 - Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.
1Jn3:14 - We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not his brother abideth in death.
God bless,
Joe Hanson

Joe...
I am in no way ****ed off at you for using me as an example above.
I am well aware of mmy volitile nature when it comes to certain subjects, and I am also aware that it isn't always appreciated.
As for FactNet being a refuge for healing etc, I agree. To a point. My focus with the kids has made me be very blunt and bold here, and I admit it is an emotioanlly charged subject for me. This happens mostly when I see the kids being marginalized with the "just can't we all get along" routine.
In my earlier experience with factnet it was difficult for a lot of us to convince some of the dangerous nature of the GG cult. Also there were many doctrinal issues with Jim Faucett and others that were difficult to deal with. It was almost a brawl at times. I learned a lot.
I am of the hope that FactNet never becomes a refuge only, for I do not believe it has only refuge to give.
FN can offer the truth, the discussions where we can disagree or agree help us define our thoughts, and the bold hard facts of a dangerous cult need repeating time after time.
I see FN as more of a well rounded and sometimes edgy place where real issues, hard issues, real healing can happen as well as a visiting place for those who wish to catch up on the activities of old friends.
If it does not offer both it can do nothing to heal anyone.
I don't apologize for my passionate fight for the abused kids. I am no hero here, I just am determined that no one forget them. I have been threatened, screamed at, belittled, maligned etc ever since I began the advocasy for them, and I admit freely to being oversensitive to attacks, and have learned to fight back instead of cowering like the cult required us to. A balance between cowering and slice and dice is what I am aiming for.
I have made it a policy to apologize to those I have harshly used in this regard. Maria was emailed an apology...I told her that if she had not called against Bonnie's wishes, I apologized. I tended not to believe her for reasons of my own, and I told her that I was very protective of Bonnie as she is my best friend and that I was not going to let anyone over burden her just now.
I know you have no interest to know that, I state it here to say, Joe...I realize my shorcomings and try to deal accordingly. I am in no way at all ****ed that you mentioned me above. You, by all appearances are a man of integrity and as such I accept your post as it is.
Please remember this though...FactNet is not TBS. This board is for everyone no matter what state of learning or recovery, for people of all tolerance levels and there will inevitably be clashes. That is the way people are, and there is no need to fear it. Those who come for answers may discover many answers can be found in the clashes of others, the disagreements and anger of others.
Anger, fear, and confrontation are new to some...the ministry never allowed such things. We'll all get better at interpersonal relationships and how to accept the rough edges I think eventually.
Blessings to you Joe

Great post Roberta. I think there are few if any who would say you are wrong in your stand with/for the kids. But we all need to be kinder with the wounded and escaping. Many have said it, but an ex-Marine missionary friend said it best in Guam in the 70's, "The Christian army is the only army in the world that shoots their wounded."
May the Holy Spirit not be grieved in any of us for shooting God's wounded children.
Blessings to all,
Ralph

Roberta,
Thank you for accepting my words so graciously. In my opinion, you have a lot of wisdom that just simply needs to be tempered with God's love even when people are dead wrong about certain issues.
You have so much to offer here at FACTNet, as you have a heart of love with such incredible passion. You are a definite force to be reckoned with here on FACTNet.
Don't forget that I have been 'out' of TBS for some 25 years and most of the 'weird stuff' is a long since past memory for me. I just want those that need healing to receive it and get the support that they so desperately need here on FACTNet.
Roberta, you have a tender and sensitive heart and have nothing but good intentions and I can discern that as well.
God bless you,
Joe

Joe,
I just finished reading your posts, re-reading mine, and what Roberta wrote to you as well.
To me, you're 100 percent right. I was hurtful with what I wrote to Arguendo, spoken out of hurt feelings which I am not offering as an excuse for what I said.
From that perspective I did view your post as a personal attack. I also see your heart (today) and see where you are and were (yesterday) coming from. However, I missed it big time yesterday.
I'm not going to go edit my post either. God will use it to keep me humble. I don't mean that He will "rub my nose in it" but it is a good guide for me to remember to zip my lip when I get my feelings hurt.
I don't "enjoy" or "strive" to pick a fight on here with anybody. Yes I get a passion about something and can "overkill" if I don't catch myself before sending the post. I do care a great deal about everyone on here, even people (like you, for instance) who I don't know at all. As much as Roberta and I have had some awful squabbles on here, its the tenacity and passion that she has in her and the tenderness of her heart behind the scenes that I have seen and witnessed that has made me love her even though I know I have plucked her nerves royally. Someone once told me that she and I are alike in our tenacity for upholding what we believe is right.
I think its true, but I have a lot to learn still from people on here, and I do need first of all to temper my remarks more with the love of God and I fall short many times in this area.
Please forgive me for spouting off at you and assuming the worst instead of seeing your heart.
Lawyer or no lawyer, I didn't mean for Arguendo to literally go "play in traffic" or for her to go "kill herself" as you took it to mean. It was meant as "bug off and leave me alone". Next time I'll just say that instead. Oops there I go again, see what I mean? I could have just backspaced and erased what I just wrote, but I didn't. I say things sometimes without thinking, and sometimes without meaning to be cruel or unkind. I also don't like the implication that I am a liar and that Arguendo did use as her "weapon" of assault on me personally, and I did take it personally. That, however, is between her and I. To be honest, I'm not yet over it either.
Thank you again for caring enough to have spoken in the first place.

1. No one here, that doesn't know me personally off of FACTNet, "knows" what I do for a living. Many here have assumed much.
2. Maria, I am merely making you accountable for what you say. How this is assault, I do not know. Truth is the ultimate defense, why is it not available to you?
3. Maria we do not have a relationship. We are merely 2 posters to a public forum. There is nothing to be dealt with or worked out. Write the truth here or I'll point it out when you don't. That is the beginning and end of our relationship.

Just an old-timers observation:
I've been reading the prior text and other threads here on factnet. I must say that I am intrigued by the wide variety of backgrounds and experiences and opinions represented. I have also noticed that no other topic in factnet is so heavily posted as TBS/GGWO. There's a lot of passion here. Given that anonymity can be maintained (for the most part), and when you consider all this passion, mixed with all of our various backgrounds and experiences and sufferings and joys, there is a relatively small amount of offensive and obnoxious pontifications. Most seem to come from a small percentage. In addition, if God is truly our judge, why should we get in the way of His judgement by chastising those who do not have the sense to avoid maligning. Both seem foolish. After all, "God is not mocked, whatsoever a man sows, that he will also reap".
If you have ever been cracked by the mighty hand of God, you will run from anything that evokes God's attention to discipline ... both the perpetrator of the offense and those who judge the perpetrator.
I'm here to say that we all can relax and enjoy this forum without taking things so personally. If people want to vent, then let them vent. If they cross lines, (relative term), so what. If they want to pontificate, so be it. Live and let live.
Has anyone declared this forum as a source of our spiritual strength, or church. This forum, at best, is for postings that may help someone, and should be, at worst, entertainment and rekindling friendships. For beleivers, we know how to feed our spiritual lives. We have been given 66 canonical books of the Bible, the Holy Spirit, and qualified, gifted pastors to feed us. We just have to find them, and for those who seek honestly, you will. But Factnet is what it is. Some vent, some debate, some fellowship and some read and do not post at all. "Are we our brothers keepers?" Certainly not in this context. We can't straighten people out who disagree with us, even if they are clearly wrong. But we can bring dignity, or humor, or encouragement into our posts.
It is likely that those who do not post at all are in the most pain. Those that vent might be angry, justifiably or not. Those that joke or try to lend a hand to others are probably comfortable with where they are in life. But in all of it, in the humor, the anger and dissent, the valuable words of wisdom; above all, maintain your dignity, and honor the legacy that Christ died and rose for. You control your own happiness. You can choose to be positive. Enjoy the passion, the intrigue and the bantor that this web site offers.
Finally, as far as comments directed to those who are still in GG, (and we know many of them read here), be gentle. You may remember when we were "in", we did not receive criticism about TBS/GG very well. It could never turn you around. Only grace can deliver, where accusation scatters.
I am quite sure I will not be engaging anyone in this subject matter in the future. Among other things, this post may be viewed by some of you as a pontification in itself, fair enough. But I intend it to be viewed merely as an observation from someone that has been around the block a few times.
As Roberta said: "Anger, fear, and confrontation are new to some...the ministry never allowed such things. We'll all get better at interpersonal relationships and how to accept the rough edges I think eventually." Whether that quote is real or imagined, whether it is your experience or not, it is certainly a geniune perception, and like it or not, perception is truth to that person. What's at the end of that quote is powerful; "...We'll all get better..." We will learn and we will grow. That's what it's all about. For now, "we see through a glass dimly"; someday we will see clearly. We WILL get better, one way or another.
Just an observation.

I would like to offer that not only have we been given the items on your list by which we can find truth, but nature, the universe, sacred geometry, ancient texts, art, science, and indeed - everything that is part of creation -- I believe that includes everything!!! You're funny. Love your comments. I didn't mean to limit myself to the in avenue's of understanding or revealing Truth.
SACRED GEOMETRY? I have to do this ... If you haven't yet done it, go to the top of this thread, keep the words "Sacred Geometry" in the forefront of your mind, and start reading. If you can stop ROFLYAO long enough, write me back and tell if you might consider a decent Catholic CCD class, a good start for this theme.
So, Excuuuuuse meeee, for isolating and limiting the avenues of Truth to the 66 books of the Bible. I have my hands full with my post-salvation, epistimological rehabilitation ... (Bob will likely comment about the high brow sound of that), never mind the rest of the 66 canonical books, the firmament, sacred geometry, the universe and the billions of planets and stars in the galaxies and beyond.
So, if you don't mind, maybe just for this thread, allow me to offer the limited scope found within 66 books of the Bible which, I realize, is limited as it reveals only THE ALPHA and THE OMEGA!!!
For the casual reader, this was a playful tease. To quote Will's friend in Good Will Hunting; (and I'm changing the gender), ..."my girl 'Lana, she's wickid smaahht"

Well said Dominick. Concise and to the point. I too have observed and agree with what you posted.
I do also see there are a few people on here that are quite spiteful, unforgiving, vindictive and control freaks like Boss Martian, Kirk, RJ, Jim F, Arguendo, Minutus, Heather and good old Martin who lurks still behind the scenes. I have read through the archives and its these posters that dominate over the others, they override what they say and they are relentless in pushing their point of view until one is made to feel disguested and angry. I realize people have strong opinions in area's. It's how they have been expressed that bugs those of us who lurk.
They prey on people like pirhannas. I don't see
that in the 66 books in the "canon" do you?
Looking forward to the gathering in Maine. It will be a pleaseure seeing old friends again. At least Factnet has gathered some together again. It is my hope that there will be temperance and kindness expressed more in the posts. We all have come a long way.

Forgiveness comes after repentance. Speculating on this seed thought provokes another. Judge not lest ye be judged. Worry about yourself and your own relationship with your heavenly Father and let Him deal with whether or not this cult (as you call it) comes to an end.
This is not condoning the man's actions of all these years. I do not agree with what went down.
Nobody does. Its the lack of a Christ-like attitude exhibited towards a very spiritually sick brother. Gal 6:1 also came to mind. Leave him to God. All the fleshly arguements don't produce change in the spiritually ill. It is God that produces the changes. It is God that draws the heart to repentence, not the words of men on here.

So -- let's not judge others who post. Let's not judge others at all. (DON'T start with the dogma about judging - that discussion is there for all to see on another thread.)
Bad manners are that, let's not put them in the category of sin and people needing repentence -- WE ALL need it. And repentence is simply a turning away...not groveling in the dirt until someone else thinks you're clean enough to be in their presence.....SO, can we just be respectful of one another as HUMANS (uh, created by God) not because we have achieved some level of spiritual growth - we're all at different phases...we're all human and, therefore, some will not exhibit perfect manners in speech or in thought all the time. I agree, Fisherman, that we should each worry about ourselves and not the others who are posting. Take what you like, challenge what you don't or just leave it alone...but give the other humans the space to be where they are...notice I agree that challenges can be made and hot discussions can be hard to hear yet can cause us to THINK!! and GOD can use ANYONE's words for any purpose. Can we be inclusive and tolerant rather than standing above anyone else who posts here???? Even the trolls and lurkers should be welcome.
Guess I'm just trying to say that none of us is perfect, never were - won't ever be while we're confined to time and space, so how in the name of all that's holy can we pour burning coals on the heads of others? (Well, maybe Bobby O will actually achieve perfection!!!!!!! He's so close! http://www.factnet.org/discus/clipart/biggrin.gif)

HRH - the wisdom in your words are self evident.
Btw - I hate to cause trouble (as you know), but according to Bob O, spousal perfection was achieved sometime in the early 90's. Did he mean you or him?

Dom, Thanks --got some good wisdom going yourself (how'd you do that???)
What I know is that you definitely relish sowing a little hate and discontent! (PLEASE readers - this is good-natured bantering, you know, with laughter.) I'm not sure about the perfection...my guess is that he meant me, since I've had the benefit of his example and counsel, lo, all these years!!!!

HRH -
My, my, you are in serious contention for "Woman of the Year" with that kind of talk. Even if it's not true.
I'm looking forward to Sunday, with the various sorts of nourishments, and fruity little what-nots you will have prepared.
But most of all, I will gladly cast aside any personal selfishness, and be available to receive your hospitality as to not get in the way of your eternal rewards that you will attain from such servitude. That is what I will do for you! http://www.factnet.org/discus/clipart/proud.gif

HRH I have been upset with you all day. You of all folks, who are so close with Dom, and he remains unmarried at this late age. Shame, shame, HRH. To allow a single, handsome, well-mannered, thoughtful, intelligent, practically fully trained Christian man to remain unfettered is a mortal sin in my book.
I surely hope that your comment "Shante looks forward to your visit!" is an indication that you are finally using your God-given gifts of allowing others to experience spousal perfection. Lana when we meet this summer you have some "splaining" to do.
"Go Pats (sorry for you Southerners - most New Englanders just can't help it!)" Just because we are bubbas doesn't mean we forgot our "first love" Pats.

BJ, I live in Eagles country. I play in a band with a guitar player who has an Eagles hat glued to his head. I have heard nothing about anything in South Jersey this week but Eagles. I don't know which will be worse, if they win or lose.
ps. Yes, I'm skipping church to watch the game.
pps. I guess it's easy to "first love" the Pats when you live in Tampa! Jim

HRH - why don't you share that picture with BJ ... I would love to get her input on it.

dominic,
You want me to fix you up again buddy?*ROTF*
Great talkin' to you last night. However, you neglected to tell me that you'd be driving by my house this weekend and NOT stopping in for a visit once again. That's okay, I'll make it a point NOT to stop by your house next time I'm in your area. God, I love payback!*LOL*
HRH,
dominic's gonna eat you out of house and home, just to get you to serve him. He's always telling me that he is used greatly by God to teach women their rightful place, which is to serve the man. I've tried my best to correct him on this issue, but he DOES have some good points on the matter.*LOL*
Also, I agree with the dom man, "the wisdom in your words are self evident.", regarding your 2:52 pm post.

Divine Design! You have got to be kidding me.
HRH - You won't believe this but I was roped in to a sort of divine-design dating game thing with female contestants and a panel of guys. Let me see, they wanted to enlist a whole bunch of guys like Bauer, Laflamme, Conant, Lester, maybe Lanoue, and a few others that I do not remember, in Lenox circa 1979. How horrifying. I remember much plotting and and scheming on how to end up with the one you wanted to date. There was some World-Class sandbaggin' going on there, I'll tell you. Both male and female. I‘ll spare those female contestants and hide their identities, unless they are willing to "come out". As it turned out, somebody 86'd the thing early. Does anyone remember this?
I would like to keep this a secret, so that's why I'm just telling you, say, 3-400 of my very closest friends. You're all sworn to secrecy.
Sooo, at the reunion, (EITHER BEFORE OR AFTER MY WEDDING), we could have the BJ's and Alana's and whoever wants in, to host various game shows, such as: Dating game (called Divine Design, of course). We'll need a newlywed game and maybe a second honeymoon game and one for the second time around.
Maybe someone could start a new thread. This thread is called DEATHMATCH – Fantasy Flights, ...might not be the best name for a dating and relationship thread, albeit tongue-in-cheek. Although, “Fantasy Flights” seems appropriate. Any relationship could use a good fantasy flight now and again. http://www.factnet.org/discus/clipart/lol.gif How about calling it: Devine Design Central, or, Devine Design – Fantasy Plights?
BJ – feel free to pick a thread name and yenta it up.
Jeanne - thank you for your sensitivity, but it was all quite funny.
Cape Cod - I'll pass on your offer for now ... let's just leave this task to professionals.

DOM - We can definitely come up with a "New Divine Dating Game" to help you out!!! It sounds like you don't trust Cape Cod any more in that regard. I still think the blonde in the pix I sent you would be purrrrrfect for you! (BJ - did ya see???)
Ethel - my future son-in-law is from Philly - we're sure to have some healthy banter on Sunday.
Jeannie, RJ, Minutus - Great names for new shows! Could also have a "preach off" you know like "Iron Preachers" -- or how about a SURVIVAL series -- Now someone pick that up and run with it because it has endless possibilities for the denizens of this part of FN.!! Come on, I dare someone.....

How about a game based on "six degrees from Kevin Bacon(substitute HRH or whoever?") We all intermarried, went on teams together, our kids married kids in the ministry and then some of us divorced and remarried. The winner could be who comes away "most connected!"

Does anyone remember the "Untalent Show" the band did back in '86? That was a blast! I was the guy who took the Alpo dog food from the Ed McMahon clone and ate it http://www.factnet.org/discus/clipart/lol.gif. I also got slapped in the face by Joe Zucker playing a Polish border guard. We were going to do a Polish "fashion show" based on the Soviet Wendy's hamburger commercial of those days, but the higher ups (Dan Lewis) nixed it. I think the best part was Kathy Powers as Julia Childski making Chicken Chernobyl!
jeannie (jeannie)
02-04-2005, 09:35 PM
Kathy Powers is probably the funniest person I know. When were stopped at the Ukraine/Poland border she was in the other bus. As the border guards were giving her husband a hard time outside our buses, looking through luggage and such. She was doing dead-on mime of Russian border guard, smoking cigarettes and drinking vodka.. Carl Jr. and I in the other bus were laughing so hard we were crying. Carl also is league with Robin Williams in the most insane comic department.

Was not in Lenox then, but remember in Balltimore 94' she did a bit called "Spirutal schizophrenia" in which she moved back and forth between Julia Child, Marilyn Hickey, and Peg DeTremont, then concluded by grabbing my cowboy hat and lip syncing to me singing "Heaven's National Anthem."
Hilarious to say the least. LOL at the memory
