The title of this thread is: Is my questioning of the name "Yahweh" a "Public Lie" issue?

http://www.factnet.org/discus/messages/3/24643.html?1159581416
At the link above, Jim Buckley defined a catagory 2 public lie as:

<font color="ff0000">>>>
The public lie to discredit the teaching of Bible doctrine and those who communicate it.
>>></font>

Since at least 2000 A.D., Pastor Carl Stevens [ as well as other GGWO Pastors] has been teaching that God's name is "Yahweh".

In fact Pastor Carl Stevens has taught that even if a person had never heard his teaching that God's name is "Yahweh", that person would still be responsible for that teaching when they appear at the Bema Seat Evaluation.

I definitely have questioned the dogmatic teaching by Pastor Carl Stevens that God's name is "Yahweh", on this FACTNet GGWO Discussion Board.

Of course I was never aware until recently that I might be guilty of "a catagory 2 Public Lie".

However to be redundant Jim Buckley defines "a catagory 2 Public Lie" as:

<font color="ff0000">>>>
The public lie to discredit the teaching of <u>Bible doctrine</u> and those who communicate it.</font>
>>>

Since I assume that "Bible Doctrine" must be based on "the written Word of God", and since nowhere in "the written Word of God" is the name "Yahweh" found, <font color="ff0000">I wonder if in fact Pastor Carl Steven's teaching that God's name is "Yahweh" can legitimately be called <u>"Bible Doctrine".</u></font>

So technically any attempt by me to discredit Pastor Carl Steven's teaching that God's name is "Yahweh" may not be a catagory 2 "public lie",
<u>since the teaching that God's name is "Yahweh" does not appear be be based on the "written Word of God"</u>.

I am curious if by any chance Jim Buckley might think that Pastor Carl Stevens, himself, might be guilty of some sort of Public Lie, if in fact God has chosen not to preserve His Hebrew name as "Yahweh" in any extant Hebrew text.

So, daved, what's your favorite color?

Do you like cheese?

What's your opinion of pleats and cuffs on men's pants?

Ever had barbecued brisket?

Which is better--Quizno's or Subway--or do you prefer the hometown sub shop?

What's your call on the Patriots this year?

What do you think of Romney's plan for healthcare in Massachussetts?

If Massachussetts is plural, what is a Massachussett? And where can I get one, and what do I feed it?

I'm hoping that the underdog Jets finish higher in the standings, and that Curtis Martin has an unforseen recovery from his knee injury, and returns to play in the next 3-4 weeks.

I lived and died with the Patriots in their losing seasons before Bill Parcels became coach. And it was great to be able to root for the Patriots while Parcels was coach.
But I lost my enthusiasm for the Patriots after Bill Parcells quit as coach, and the Boston Press did a number on him.

By the way have the Patriot's had any success under their new coach, Bill Belichick? :-)

Cordell,

What do think of Pastor Carl Stevens' teaching that God's name is "Yahweh"?

Do you think that it is Biblical, and that all Christians should be required to agree with his teachings, at the Bema Seat Evaluation?

To challenge a "doctrine "is not the same as to
seek to "discredit".
So,
Mr,Buckleys assumption that the Bereans where in sin by questioning the message with scriptural investigation is disengenous at best and maybe more than questionable as to "intent."

I know he didn't mention the Bereans but if you follow his principle you have to say the Bereans where wrong because he has stated the lie has a construct that dissallows the questioning.

He is denying what Paul the apostle said about questioning the message in his "commendation" of the Bereans.

YAY DAVED!!!!!!!

I knew you could do it!

DAVED I have been trying to prove that there is a real guy under that obsessive exterior!!!

If I answer your question on YAHWEH will you answer mine on cheese and your favorite color?

DAVED ASKED:
<font color="0000ff">What do think of Pastor Carl Stevens' teaching that God's name is "Yahweh"?</font>

What I think is (and DAVED I am in DEAD earnest concerning this) that the NEW TESTAMENT requires that we TRANSLATE God's word INCLUDING HIS NAME AND IT'S MEANING into the vulgar tongue of the people so it can be plainly understood--because the Word of God gives understanding to the simple, it is a light to their path. Consequently, I do not believe that God is so overly concerned with the Hebrew pronounciation of His Name, but that we should rather know Him whose word is near to us, even in our mouth. That is as sufficient an answer as you will get from me.

AND:

<font color="0000ff">Do you think that it is Biblical, and that all Christians should be required to agree with his teachings, at the Bema Seat Evaluation?</font>

I think you should actively research everything that you've been taught in GGWO, compare it to historical and biblical Christianity but most of all and especially with Holy Scripture because at the Great White Throne Judgment--which is the only 'bema seat' that any of us will attend we will be called into account for our WORKS and we will either rely on our own righteousness or on that of another--an advocate who speaks to the Father on our behalf--who will say either 'depart from me, you who work iniquity I NEVER knew you' OR 'thou good and faithful servant, enter into the rest of the Lord' (paraphrase).

Now what's your favorite color DAVED--and more importantly what do you think of Monterrey Jack?
