I woke up dreaming of Jim Faucett this morning. This was odd, with someone I know in his early twenties that attends my AG church and a bunch of other people, not all of whom I knew. Does Texas send missionaries to the madly liberal Berkshires? Just a dream. I've never had 'a prophetic one' yet, and don't expect this to be either. But maybe it will provide troll excitement.

And what did you have to drink before you went to bed Bob? Were you listening to ZZTop? One thing I really want to know is--did I speak in tongues?

This is as good a place as any I guess to repent of my saying bad stuff about how we say "Massachusetts" down here(OK Nic?) There is really nothing quite like being in the Berkshires in Autumn and Boston Pizza is second to none. And I am sure that "Lynn, Lynn the city of sin, you never come out the way you went in" is not really true at all. And--I know that Peabody isn't pronounced pee BOD ee but rather PEE buddy. And now that I am clean shaven, I wouldn't have to worry about my beard and mustache freezing on the coldest of days. Actually, I have great memories of Massachusetts and no one loves the history of the place more than I do.

And before anyone else gets this one in Bob, are you sure this wasn't a NIGHTMARE ON CENTER STREET?

Jim,
Thanks for all the nice things you said about Massachusetts!

Bob, I think your dream was definitely prophetic and that Jim will be moving to the Berkshires and joining your church. And probably campaigning for Kerry.

Jim, I only had three or four beers last night. Not enough to tangle up my dreams. I rarely remember my dreams, and don't attach special significance to them. I listened to Miles Davis and John Coltrane, the second disc of the box set. You didn't speak in tongues. You were just the normal friendly type of guy I perceived you as back in 'the old days', not spitting fire or hitting people. I enjoyed seeing you. I think you did still have the moustache though, and you probably look older than you seemed there. It's West Center Street, just a short walk from Bob Herring's store, which is where it was back in the 'Lenox days'. And no, Roberta wasn't there. At least I didn't see her.

Nic, Kerry doesn't need to be campaigned for in Massachusetts. That would be like trying to make water wet. I've grown up in this state, at the other end of it; where it's perfectly okay to do a Mary Jo Kopechne (however you spell it) and let her drown in your car, as long as you're a Kennedy. And not only that, but you've got a Senate seat for life. Abuse doesn't only live in bad churches. The Eagle is a Bush basher rag, not even pretending any balance. But I think it reflects the populace. They say the really happening spiritual places to run away to are Africa and China. I heard someone say China looks to be a Christian country by 2050. I can't afford to move that far away, and my Chinese is terrible.

Surprise! China is already more Christian than we are in 2004!

"You were just the normal friendly type of guy I perceived you as back in 'the old days', not spitting fire or hitting people. I enjoyed seeing you."

Still don't spit fire (or tobacco) and don't remember the last time I hit anybody (unless spanking kids counts and even THAT is extremely rare in that I have been really graciously blessed with FIVE really well behaved kids.) My public speaking style is (I have been told) fairly humorous and I don't talk long enough for anyone to fall asleep--at least that's what the three to five year olds (my last and next 'congregation') exhibited during my last 'sermon' to them.

And I am currently an older, slimmer, yet not too wrinkly, still have most of my hair-- version of my old self.

And Bob, nothing would make me happier to see the leaves turning up there right now--and to have the Mrs. and kids see them that way with me.

If you ever do get up this way, let me know. We live in a box, but Bob and LuAnn might be willing to put you up; probably would. And I'd love to see you.

Man, wouldn't it be great to see the Sox win the series someday--in the same year the Patriots win the Superbowl.

I was in Boston in '99 and saw the Red Sox play at Fenway, it was great. And you can still get a decent cannoli in MA. which is next to impossible here.

Actually you folks should all come down to Florida, or as I answered the phone today "Hurricanes R Us." We're running a special right now http://www.factnet.org/discus/clipart/happy.gif
