Please Freud I was born in 65 to Armstrong who was spacing on the moon and some other Neil writing songs for Davey Jones to sing along with the son of the inventor of white out.

Then I saw here face..

Now I am a believer.

OK So I am not worthy.

BTW

Speaking of Davey Jones and space..

Why did one Davey Jones change his name to another David name.

Rollingstone (12.183.1.157)

Not bad ,but no cigar. It was actually Mike Nesbithes mother who invented white out.He was the so called leader of the Monkeys.Which eventually led to their demise.Take the last train to clarksville.

I'm not sure what the connections between the bands named are. I have only one Deep Purple album, and am too lazy to go check the names on it. I wasn't a big fan of theirs. I never heard of Rainbow. The names I recall from Black Sabbath are Izzy Osbourne and Tony Iommi. Asia at one point had Steve Hackett, who had played with Genesis back in the Peter Gabriel days, and Steve Howe, who had and does again played/play with Yes. They (Asia) weren't very good. Emerson was an incredible performer on various keyboards. Lake had been with King Crimson previously, and contributed some of the more sappy type elements to the band. ELP did some really good things. Are these all bands that have gotten back together? Or maybe they shared some particular label or producer. Try Jim Faucett. Or maybe my brother David knows a connection. He has seen this board, and may end up posting. Another wild possibility is that one or another member of each band played at some point with Frank Zappa. Zappa was sort of like Miles Davis in the way that he used an incredible number of different musicians over the years. Bob

Then please make sure you understand these refrences:

Not for the faint at heart mind you:

Notes :

o If the musician came from a group in the list, this will appear beside their
entry in the new group. I know some of these people were in other groups
besides the ones that I have decided to list, but unless I'm absolutely
sure of the band that they came from, I'm just listing the last one in this
list that they were in.

o I decided to list the bands in the order that they first appeared.

o I added Elf, Kiss, Roger Glover, Rising Force, Joe Lynn Turner, Vinnie
Vincent Invasion, Slaughter and Alcatrazz, Badlands, Yngwie, Sun King
and House of Lords

o Thanks to Billy Barron for lots of extra info

o The cross-reference is getting really big!

Now as we studying the possibility of their being a connection to the Family of C,S,N,Y we should most liekly consider if there is some English connection between them that is relative.

Remember when you got mad at me because I told you that you had started a lot of 'useless, ridiculous threads??????

WELL ADD THIS TO YOUR LIST!!

What is the purpose, what does it have to do with anything in regards to this forum site?

Sometimes I just don't understand where you're at. 3/4 or more of the "music" albums you posted, those singers do not edify anybody other than their father -- the devil. I stopped listening to that trash years ago.

Show me where it glorifies God?????????

You already said you don't know why people think you are strange, weird or whatever...if the shoe fits, wear it!!

Maria T,

Why do you jump on threads honey and get all emotional or otherwise involved? http://www.factnet.org/discus/clipart/happy.gif

I didn't start this thread honey.

Maria I live in the real world and I do not sit around and listen to the devil's music as you seem to be suggesting...

But I love how my country invented the spiritual music of the last century and the century to come.

Music is part of what we are as a society and it is also what makes this country great, as well as our brit and irish friends.Remember Amazing Grace comes from a Scot drinking tune.

The freedom of speech, the freedom of democracy, and the freedom of Rock & Roll

as another great great Rock & Roll artist wrote with the name Neil. By the way this song is pre 9/11

Rockin' In The Free World by Neil Young
--------
There's colors on the street
Red, white and blue
People shufflin' their feet
People sleepin' in their shoes
But there's a warnin' sign on the road ahead
There's a lot of people sayin' we'd be better off dead
Don't feel like Satan, but I am to them
So I try to forget it, any way I can.

Keep on rockin' in the free world,
Keep on rockin' in the free world
Keep on rockin' in the free world,
Keep on rockin' in the free world.

I see a woman in the night
With a baby in her hand
Under an old street light
Near a garbage can
Now she puts the kid away, and she's gone to get a hit
She hates her life, and what she's done to it
There's one more kid that will never go to school
Never get to fall in love, never get to be cool.

Keep on rockin' in the free world,
Keep on rockin' in the free world
Keep on rockin' in the free world,
Keep on rockin' in the free world.

We got a thousand points of light
For the homeless man
We got a kinder, gentler,
Machine gun hand
We got department stores and toilet paper
Got styrofoam boxes for the ozone layer
Got a man of the people, says keep hope alive
Got fuel to burn, got roads to drive.

Keep on rockin' in the free world,
Keep on rockin' in the free world
Keep on rockin' in the free world,
Keep on rockin' in the free world.

For Maria and other GGWO Factnet paticpants:

Alas a Stephen Stills song>>>

It's time we stop, hey, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down

Paranoia strikes deep
Into your life it will creep
It starts when you're always afraid
You step out of line, the man come and take you away

We better stop, hey, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down
Stop, hey, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down
Stop, now, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down
Stop, children, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down

Don't feel like Satan but I am to them.'

Niel,

Thanks for the remarks. I still working on the whole CSNY and Rainbow tree possibility.

I am deeply concerned that Maria and others will not have their trivia play book when we begin again.

Now we can trace both Dylan, Young, Crosby and King Solomon to the same family tree but I don't know about Maria. BTW I saw them perform that "Teraching" verse song on of all things the 700 club like 4 years ago. Very strange seeing a song from that period done on a Fundies show.

TIGHT LIKE THAT

Woke up this morning, put on my Sunday shoes.
Don't ask me why, it's just the nature of my groove.
I larged down the boulevard, came under attack,
But I rocked them senseless, 'cause honey it's tight like that.

I hung a left down to Lemans' Avenue,
Stagger Lees everywhere, trying to bring me doom, oh no.
And that Old Scratch, he tried to purchase this soul,
That don't confront me, 'cause I'm never in the need of a payroll.
Heck, yeah.

Amen, do it all again.
Rock my soul in the bosom of Abraham.
Spit shine and a three piece suit,
Good Lord I got to thank you 'cause you do it like you do.
Hallelujah, all the people in the back.
Hallelujah, it's tight like that.
Hallelujah, all the people up front.
Tight like that, rapture, rock.

And all you know-it-alls with politic views.
Ideals don't situate themselves in His groove.
So if you want to know, you just got to ask.
But if you don't lose that skin, you'll never be tight like that.
Watch me work, yeah.

Don't try to sell me your New Age guru troubles.
'Cause I'm already reeling doing that good time gospel shuffle.
And all your thumpings about some Armageddon,
Ain't no big deal, 'cause I already hang with Him.

Oh yeah, tight like that.
Honey it's tight like that.
Honey it's tight like that.
Honey it's tight like that.

Can I get a witness for the rock of ages?
For the rock of ages?
Can I get a witness for the rock of ages?
For the rock of ages?

That's from a Maryland band called Clutch. They're not a Christian band, per se, just a band with Christians in it. They sound kind of like Frank Zappa mixed with early ZZ Top and Mountain. HEAVY!

For the narrow minded...

...There are a lot of GREAT musicians who play Rock n' Roll and they don't play rock just for Rock's sake.

For example the compact disk; 'G3 Live in Denver'. Guitarists: Joe Satriani, Steve Vai and the amazing, Yngwie Malmsteen share their virtuostic gifts by playing together.

How about Randy Rhodes? He was the lead guitarist for Ozzie Ozbourne for two years back in the mid-80s.
He stopped his tour with Ozzie to develop his skills as a classical guitarist. Remember the now famous classical guitar piece dedicated to his mother Delores called "Dee"?

Also Mr. Steve Morse of Deep Purple was performing with a trio cosisting of: Paco De Lucia, Aldi Meola and himself. One of his most recent works was with Maestro Manuel Barrueco of Peabody Music Conservatory playing the works of Heitor Villa Lobos for classical guitar.

Has anyone heard the Adagio of Concerto Aranjuez
by Joaquin Rodrigo of Spain as played by "Rocker" Carlos Santana?

You may be thinking "so what!"...well my point is that many "Rockers" are well rounded and great musicians! Just remember ANYTHING not done by faith is considered sin to God and I don't think Rock n' Roll is necessarily evil in and of itself.
However, there are people like Marilyn Manson who is OVERT in his proclamations AGAINST God. Now he's from the pit of hell! And also some on this board may associate this music to a time in their lives BEFORE accepting Jesus Christ as their savior; therefore, it may be a stumbling block in their lives. For those who are uncomfortable with this topic I'd like to suggest you avoid this thread since it offends you!

Now, is there a "Fellow "Rocker" out there who knows anything about Stratovarius with the guitarist Timo Tolkki? If so I'd appreciate ANYTHING you have to share about this group and guitarist.

I'm glad this topic has been posted...IT ROCKS!

Maria and others often from her tribe believe that music is limited in space and time to the likes of certain people being holy.

I am glad you brought up Carlos.

When he was asked in a Magic Magazine about his faith he responded by giving credit to His Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for his abilities and his desire to give glory to him.

There are several people within GGWO who's children still go to GGWO that play in rock bands.

The song 40 by u2 is more biblical than most so called modern hymns.

Get a grip Maria.

Amen and well said 24,

Also Carlos and his wife Deborah Santana, have a foundation called "Miracle.

Much of the money from his "devil music" supports orphans and impoverished children in the Third World with: food, clothes and medicine.

He had asked God to deliver him from drugs in exchange for serving God with his music. This evidently is Carlos keeping his promise to God for God's faithfulness to him.

Shame on him for being a philanthropist and helping those less fortunate with money from his success!

Get off the throne judgers! The only difference between you and God is He doesn't think He's you!

It's from a song about Kent State, where four students were shot to death by soldiers supposedly using rubber bullets during a peaceful demonstration against the Vietnam War. At least, that's the way I remember it. Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young did the song. And I managed to get an occupational deferment during the most critical time when I might have been drafted. My two older brothers spent time there. The outdoorsman/fighter type served behind a typewriter as a clerk, while the scholar who ended up with a doctorate in philosophy ended up with a rifle in the jungle. All typical governmental approach. Bob

Blind Faith had highly thought of people from different groups thrown together. I think they just did one album. Eric Clapton, Steve Winwood; I forget who else. They were not heavy metal. The term hadn't even been invented yet.

I've never really figured out what constitutes heavy metal. My favorite form of popular music in the 'old days' was refered to as art rock or classical rock or progressive rock. Bands like Jethro Tull, Gentle Giant, ELP, Yes, early Genesis, King Crimson, etc.

Thanks for trying Neil and Bob. Well if you're interested I'd be glad to educate you guys.
Actually, I would have been shocked;
had known who these groups were.

How information on: Petra, Phil Keagy, White Heart or Strypper? Are these guys still playing?
I know Phil is cuz I heard him this past spring.

Also any news on Richie Sambora, the solo guitarist with Bon Jovi and Max Cavalera from Brazil?

Anyone remember Phil Keagy's church back in the mid-seventies, I think it was called the "Love Inn".. a big converted barn in Corning, NY?

Anon 67.243 In recent times, I've seen Jethro Tull at Tanglewood and in N.H. Also saw Yes a couple of years back. Saw Peter Gabriel and Sting (not together). Years ago I saw Tull, Yes, ELP, King Crimson, Ten Years After, Family, Mahavishnu Orchestra, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Genesis and others. I'm actually open to a lot of music now. I particularly like Sarah McLachlan and Alanis Morissette. Oh, I saw Tori Amos several years back also. And I've seen Dave Matthews Band and Counting Crows. I did a thread on music previously; but it didn't get much response. I'll try dragging it back up. Bob

What did you think of Amos?

The old thread I started seems to be gone. Anyway; part of what I wrote was that Tony Levin, who has played bass with Peter Gabriel, Yes and King Crimson; was on a Twila Paris album that was critical to me spiritually because of the fact that he and other names I recognized from popular/jazz music were there. Twila was really important to me; but his presence there made me more open to receive it. Bob

I'm posting this on multiple threads Maria just like you do:

Stop trying to start trouble and get others to hate as much as you do. Nobody was intentionally insulted, Maria, the point was that you are a master manipulator (probably learned that at ggwo, too).

And what's with your obsession with Pam? You mentioned her name NINE times in her post. Okay, Maria, we get the point!! If we all promise to dislike her as much as you do will you stop it already?

At least you didn't end this post with a dig at hurting Neil with a comment like this one again (as you did your other post):

"And tomorrow, Neil??? I'll stick up for you all over again to people here that mock you behind your back. Want the emails? I wouldn't hurt you sending them to you, it was bad enough they were sent to me."

Yeah, Neil she'll just hurt you by telling you about them. And you claim that Neil listens to gossip? Look in the mirror!

With friends like you, who needs enemies, baby?

You can mark it down: If someone speaks against 'the Ministry', and God tarries long enough, they will die. If God tarries long enough, we all will die. Isn't that scary? I'm shaking in my slippers.
