From time to time I have seen TV evangelists with a row of prayer partners who accept calls from listeners for prayer. I have a few questions about this practice and I would like some input mainly to satisfy my own curiosity.
1. Why do people feel safe confiding their personal problems to complete strangers?
2. How do callers know if these people are sincere Christians?
3. Do partners get paid by their organization or are they volunteers?
4. Do prayer partners requst donations from callers or take their addresses for solicitations?
5. Has anyone had their prayers answered through their help?
6. Do the partners need to demonstrate any proof or belief in their prayer gift/effectiveness to be allowed to perform this service? Or are they just ordinary people?
7. Has anyone found that the number they called encumbered them with an unreasonable long distance fee?
I'd be interested in hearing of your experiences and I'm sure others would too. Thanks!
