Should you choose a religion/church/belief before or after maturing as a Christian?

I have heard some Christians say that you need a church/pastor to open your eyes to the truth, while I believe that as long as it is your time and the Holy Spirit is with you the truth can be made known to you. Your thoughts?

I have seen Christians that have been in a church all their lives, and they believe everything it says. Can a man (creator of church) be totally right? Can someone know something is the truth, without looking at different sides of the story? Can you honoestly study the bible, while in the back of your head you are thinking "my church says____"?

Pro 2:6 For the LORD giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding.

Pro 9:10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.

Jer 29:12 Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you.

<font color="0000ff">People need to be careful that they are not following man. I got good sound advice from the get go, I got a strongs concordance and a King James bible, and then I could check out any man who may come along for myself.....that is very important! God through His Holy Spirit is my teacher, and I have been blessed for it! I do study with SC and I do always check him out too as PM has told me many times. God is number 1 though!
