Gene Edwards and House Churches

I visited a pentecotsal church for a few years, and the people were nice, but it seems as though they are tainted by a cleargy, top-down slavery. We were told not to question what "leaders" asked us to do, and just "serve" them. This is so contrary to the Biblical model. All believers should participate, and use their gifts and talents for the Lord. I've been reading some Gene Edwards books and found them very helpful in freeing people from this mindset. I really believe there's a revolution at hand.
