Peace & Grace be upon those that love & serve The Lord & Saviour Christ Jesus;
December 25th is a very special time for Christians, as it is the time when The Word of God became flesh and dwelt among us [ John 1:14 ]. Now many Christians have been taught that December 25th was the day of Christ's Birth; Yet December 25th is actually the date that Christ our Lord was conceived, begotten of The Divine Power of The Holy Spirit, which was an Awesome & Amazing fufillment of Prophecy foretold of in The Book of Isaiah, and indeed is one to be joyful about. And with a little SEEKING of The Scriptures we can find this Truth of Christ Divine Conception for ourselves. </font></font></font><font color="000000"><font face="times new roman, times, roman"><font size="-1">
Isaiah 7:14
" Therefore the Lord Himself SHALL give you a sign; Behold, a virgin SHALL conceive, and bear a Son, and shall call His Name Immanuel. "
</font></font></font><font color="ff0000"><font face="times new roman,times,roman"><font size="+1">
Immanuel = meaning "God with us" or "with us is God" . Now to SEEK out Christ's Conception Date we must first go to The Gospel of Luke, Chapter One for a better understanding of the times and particular dates.</font></font></font><font color="000000"><font face="times new roman, times, roman"><font size="-1">
Luke 1:5
" There was in the days of Herod, the king of Judaea, a certain priest named Zacharias,OF THE COURSE OF ABIA; and his wife was of the daughters of Aaron, and her name was Elisabeth. "</font></font></font>
<font color="ff0000"><font face="times new roman,times,roman"><font size="+1">
We see here in this above verse that Zacharias = meaning Remember of God, was doing his Levitical preistly service during THE COURSE OF ABIA, [ I Chronicles Chapter Twenty-Four ]. Now there are twenty four courses of the preisthood, which they served two times a year for a 7 day period, making a total of 48 courses, and all 24 preists would serve on the three major feast weeks. So onnce each priest had served each of the twenty -four courses which were assigned to them, then the courses would start over again, a total of 48 courses served in The Temple of The Lord. Elisabeth=meaning "Oath of God"; And we will soon see through SEEKING The Scriptures that God would fufill His Oath through this one Elisabeth and her cousin Mary the mother of Jesus by fufilling the promises of both the forerunner of The Messiah and The Messiah.
</font></font></font> <font color="000000"><font face="times new roman,times,roman"><font size="-1">
Luke 1:6
" And they [ Zacharias & Elisabeth ] were both righteous before God, walking in all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord blameless. "
Luke 1:7
" And they had no child, because that Elisabeth was barren, and they both were now well stricken in years. "
Luke 1:8
" And it came to pass, that while he [=being Zacharias ] executed the priest's office before God in the order of his course, "
Luke 1:9
" According to the custom of the priest's office, his lot was to burn incense when he went into The Temple of the Lord. "</font></font></font><font color="ff0000"><font face="times new roman, times, roman"><font size="+1">
The Alter of Incense was located in The Holy Place of The Temple, along with The Golden Candle Sticks, and The Table of Shewbread. All these items were located just outside of The Holy of Holies. Now for two times a year, and for a 7 day period each time, it was Zacharias's responsibilty to OFFER INCENSE during the course of Abia. </font></font></font>

At the time of the incense, the congregation was standing out side of The Holy Place, which Zacharias was able to enter into being a preist as he entered in to offer incense at The Alter of Incense. The burning of incense was symbolic of prayers ascending up to The Father, prayers being offered up to The LORD, as the smoke from the incense carried the prayers to our Heavenly Father [ Revelation 8:4 ].</font></font></font>

Luke1:11

<font color="ff0000"><font face="times new roman, times, roman"><font size="+1">Zacharias had been praying to The LORD for a son, as it is written here that his prayer was heard. Many would rejoice at John's birth because it would not be too long before The Messiah would also be born, and we will see through SEARCING of The Scriptures that it would be exactly six months after John's conception that Jesus The Christ would also be conceived. John The Baptist and Jesus The Christ were six months apart.</font></font></font><font color="000000"><font face="times new roman, times, roman"><font size="-1">

'Elias' is the Greek name for Elijah; There are TWO father (S) [ plural ], our Father, The LORD our God, and then there is 'their' father satan. MALACHI 4:5-6, John The Baptist was NOT Elijah [ Matthew 11:12-14 ], but came in the spirit of Elijah in turning the childrens hearts back to the father(S), and to turn the heart of the fathers to the children. </font></font></font><font color="000000"><font face="times new roman, times, roman"><font size="-1">

" And Zacharias said unto the angel, Whereby shall I know this? for I am an old man, and my wife well stricken in years. "</font></font></font><font color="ff0000"><font face="times new roman, times, roman"><font size="+1">
Zacharias is stating here how he and his wife Elisabeth are both very old. And he says 'whereby shall I know this' ? He asks this with a doubting heart. As according to the upcoming verses we see this angel will mute Zacharias because he is doubting and does not beleive his Words. And its possible he is doubting this because he and his wife are both so old, and he is asking the angel for a sign when he asks ' whereby shall I know this?'. </font></font></font><font color="000000"><font face="times new roman, times, roman"><font size="-1">

Gabriel meaning "man of God". And this angel stands in the presence of God, meaning he has the priviledge of being face to face with God, our Father. But Zacharias is doubting, not believing these good tidings with regards to he and his wife having a son.</font></font></font>

Beckoned here in the Greek is 'dianeuo' and it means = to express one's meaning by a sign; to nod. Zacharias's course has now been completed, which was The Course of Abia. And as stated in the begining post there are two courses of Abia each year, remember there were twenty-four courses
[ I chronicles 24 ], once the first 24 courses are completed, then the 24 courses start over once again for a total of 48 courses each year, and again all the priests served during the 3 major feasts. Lets look at the two courses of Abia each year to figure out which ONE of the two courses Zacharias was actually serving at the time that Gabriel appeared to him. We see here, and make note of, in verse 23 of The First Chapter of Luke that Zacharias has now completed his course/service in The Temple of The Lord, and has since departed and gone to his own home.</font></font></font>

The first course of the twenty-four courses began on the 8th day 'AFTER' the begining of the Feast of Tabernacles; which was the begininng of the Hebrew civil year. So then the 8th day AFTER the Feast of Tabernacles brings us to the 22nd of Tisri. Now the 22nd of Tisri is equal to our October 6th of each year. Now Zacharias was serving the eighth course, and the courses went for seven days, from one sabbath to the next. So then we must count forward eight weeks FROM our October 6th=22nd of Tisri [ which starts the first course, that being The Course of Jehoiarib ], so counting up eights weeks from our October 6th will bring us to the eight course, which is equal to our December 6th through December 12th [ ending on the 18th Chisleu], and that is the FIRST Course of Abia for the year.</font></font></font>

The SECOND Course of Abia for the year would come around on the 12th of Sivan of the Hebrew calender, ending on the 18th of Sivan, which is equal to our June 13th through June 19th. </font></font></font><font color="ff0000"><font face="times new roman, times, roman"><font size="+1">
And at sometime during this SECOND course of Abia was when Zacharias received the 'announcement' from Gabriel of the conception of his son John, that being John The Baptist. Therefore, Zacharias is leaving Jerusalem in verse 23 of The First Chapter of Luke, and would not be able to travel on the 19th of June because it is a sabbath, Zacharias would then need to wait until the 20th of June to return home following the completion of his course, as it would be forbidden for him to travel on the 19th as it was a sabbath. Now we know that Zacharias is well stricken in years [Luke 1:7], and lived in the hill county, of a city in Juda [Luke 1:39], so the journey from Jerusalem to his own home may have taken him one to two days, arriving home approximately June 21st or June 22nd. </font></font></font>

Mary is simply asking Gabriel how shall this be that I will conceive, because I 'know' not a man. This work 'know' as it appears here is a an idiom for sexual intercourse between a man and a woman. She is a virgin. And as it is written in Isaiah 7:14, a virgin shall conceive. </font></font></font><font color="000000"><font face="times new roman, times, roman"><font size="-1">

Here we see Mary as a willing servant of The LORD, not merely a 'hearer' of The Word, but also a 'doer' of The Word [ James 2:22 ], for she has said to Gabriel, who has given Mary understanding of how it is that she shall conceive The Son of God, Immanuel=God WITH us. [ Isaiah 7:14 ] Mary has said to the angel ' be it unto me according to thy Word'. In other words, all The Words in which Gabriel has spoken to her [ Luke 1:31 & 1:35 ], she is saying do it unto me. And it is here on this day, December 25th that we have our first Christmas, when Christ was Begotten through the Divine Power of The Holy Spirit, and indeed this is when The Word of God became flesh.</font></font></font>

<font color="ff0000"><font face="times new roman,times,roman"><font size="+1"> Ten
In researching these dates from the SECOND Course of Abia, we find that December 25th is when our Lord & Saviour, Immanuel, Jesus The Christ was conceived through The Power of The Holy Spirit, and it is when The Word of God became flesh, and it is when The Prophecy which was written of in Isaiah 7:14 was FUFILLED in that a 'virgin SHALL conceive'. Now many may say that the first course of Abia, being our December 6th -12th has been overlooked in bringing forth these conception dates, of both John The Baptist and Jesus The Christ. And many may wonder how is it that it was not the first course of Abia that Zacharias was serving. And well, we have one very good observation in The Word of God to help, and that being that 'IF' it were that Christ was born on December 25th than we would NOT have shepherd's abiding in the field keeping watch of their flocks, as the shepherd's at this time brought their sheep in from the fields somwhere around mid October of each year and the sheep were not left out in the fields in the winter time. And it is only within the last 20-25 years have sheep owners begun to take their sheep back out into fields for what is now commoningly known as 'winter grazing', and this is done only in the most high quality pastures and fields, and certainly was NOT done at all during the time of Christ.
Also, Joseph and Mary together went from Nazareth to Bethlehem [Luke 2:4-5] for the taxing of Cae'sar Augus'tus [Luke 2:1-2], a census which determined the taxes that the people would owe, and it is not likely that the Romans would do the census/taxing in the winter time as all the people would have to travel [ Luke 2:3 ]. And with Mary being full term in her pregnancy with The Christ Child would not likely be out in the dead of winter, it would be very cold during this season, and its not like they had a car.
In calculating these conception dates, first of John The Bapstist, from the dates of the second Course of Abia, we see that John would have been conceived somewhere around June 23rd/June 24th after Zacharias returned to his own home in Juda. Therefore John would have been born in late March of the following year. We know according to God's Word that Jesus Christ, Immanuel, was conceived six months AFTER Elisabeth had conceived John The Baptist, putting Jesus's Divine Conception through The Power of The Holy Spirit at December 25th; Therefore Christ's actual birth would have been somwhere around late September, either the 28th/ 29th of the following year, which would equal the 15th of Tisri of the Hebrew calender, which is the first day of The Feast of Tabernacles, that being September 28th. </font></font></font> <font color="119911"><font face="times new roman, times, roman"><font size="+1">

Abyiah,
Thank you for posting this and Merry Christmas to you and may God continue to bless you with His peace and protection.
It's a shame more scorn will be aimed towards you, and you will probably be accused falsely of many things contained in your posts here, but you are a courageous person and take no heed to the hecklers and agitators as you continue to plant your seeds.
Some scholars believe Jesus was born in the Spring of 4 BC. Mt 2 gives the fullest account of this. Jesus was born before the death of Herod. The same Herod that ordered the death of the children, the father of Archelaus. That Herod died shortly after the birth of Jesus. Josephus, and several other sources say Herod died late 4 early 3 BC. We learn from Luke 1:26 that John was 6 months older than Jesus, placing his birth in the fall of 5 BC.

I would tend to agree with Sept. as the birth date of Christ.
Many scholars believe it may have been closer to the 4th but that kind of accuracy is hard to achieve here.
September is the month most agreed upon.
Christmas is a pagan holiday of which very little relates to Christ and the gospel.
(there's a Satan Claus,LOL.)
In these days it's more closely related to department stores and bankruptcy than it is God's Word.
Well meaning Christians have polluted His birth with pagan rituals and tried to call it "Christian."
Have I rained on any ones parade?
Sorry but I hate merchandising in God's name.
How ever,
enjoy the day set aside for expressing your greatfulness to the father for His son.
Christ's mass is every day.
Shalom,
Dave

http://www.factnet.org/discus/clipart/wink.gif Well A Very Fine Morning to you Terluvire & Smyrna !
And a Very Merry & Blessed CHRISTmas to you both !
I just really love this time of the year.... and not for the commercial side of Christmas, but rather the spiritual aspect of it all, its just so Beautiful, The True Story found here in The Gospel of Luke Chapter One is one of my favorites in The Bible, however, I do not think I could choose just one 'favorite', as there are so many Beautiful, Wonderful, and Awesome True Stories within The Word of our LORD. And the best part is that they are ALL TRUE. " )
YEA ! What an exciting time this MUST have been for both Mary & Elisabeth, and when I read this Awesome Story of Truth, I can only imagine just how very great the joy and gladness of their hearts MUST have been, and then at the same time, I can also SEE how very humble both these women and servants of The LORD were, and well my heart is always moved by their Words
[Luke 1:41 -50].
And look how even John, a babe still in the womb, how even he LEAP for joy at The Presence of The Lord in Mary's womb. EXCITING !!! I thank The LORD our God for sending Immanuel, The Messiah, for keeping His Oath to us and to all, for His Word IS True, and indeed how He has brought such a Great Light to this World of darkness, and has given Salvation to ALL Peoples of the world, for whom so ever will BELIEVE [ John 3:16 ], and the thing is when you truly seek of This Truth, His Truth with all your heart, you actually do more than just believe you KNOW ! http://www.factnet.org/discus/clipart/lol.gifWell A Very Good Afternoon to you Smyrna !
LOL ! Actually... I chose ' Abiyah ' for a username/handle soley on account of its meaning,
Abiyah = Meaning ' Yah is my Father '
And although I do love the Story and all that had transpired during Zacharias's course in The Temple of The Lord. It was certainly very Awesome ..... all the things that Zacharias was told, and even seeing Gabriel... wow ! " ) But as I'm sure you know Symrna, there were a number of Abiyah's in The Bible, two being women, one of which was the mother of Hezekiah.

All the merchandising aside,
it is really wonderful that God made a way to appease His Holiness as one of us in the form of His incarnate Son.
He achieved what was impossible for us to do by His death, burial and resurrection.
Just considering the suffering He endured when at any time He could have just spoke and destroyed every one that was involved in the process is beyond imagining.
There is just no way to comprehend the depth and height and width and length of God's Love.
Isaiah 55:8-11 really puts it straight when it says that His thoughts are not our thoughts and that His ways are not ours.
How many of us would give our own beloved son for someone who's desperately guilty?
Even while knowing that they would reject Him?
If you said yes, you're full of something.
We don't live that way in and of ourselves.
It's only by His empowerment through faith that we are able to do any thing pleasing to Him.
Sometimes we loose that perspective and begin to think more highly of ourselves than we should.
Jude 24-25 keeps it in perspective for me.
Jude:24 Now unto "Him that is able" to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy,
:25 To "the only wise God our Saviour", be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen.

Mary did you know that your baby boy would one day walk on water?
Mary did you know that your baby boy will save our sons and daughters?
Did you know that your baby boy has come to make us new?
This child that you delivered will soon deliver you!
Mary did you know your baby boy will give sight to a blind man.
Mary did you know that your baby boy will calm a storm with His hand?
Did you know that your baby boy has walked where angels trod?
When you kissed your little baby , you've kissed the face of God?
The blind will see, The deaf will hear
The dead will live again, The lame will leap,
The dumb will speak The praises of the Lamb?
Mary did you know that your baby boy is Lord of all Creation?
Mary did you know that your baby boy will one day rule the nations.
Did you know that your baby boy is heaven's perfect Lamb?
This sleeping child you're holding is the great I Am?!

Hello everyone!
Did not want to be one of those 'decievers' who come with different usernames. This is kimberlyfredrick. I have tried, without sucess, until recently to change my username to YaqaKallah. Those of you with strongs will recognize it's meaning in Hebrew:
yaqa=ababandon
kallah=bride/wife
hench, abandoned wife, very appropiate...LOL!
PS I hated that last name fredrick...LOL(he did not even call his kids etc. this christmas AGAIN!!!3 yrs in a row!)
Love to all!!!

Don't worry about it Kim
God loves you and your kids.
Our Father has a way of turning all negative and evil to His good.
Somehow there is a silver lining in your predicament.
Stay in Faith friend.

Hello llm
You wrote
<font color="ff0000">Some scholars believe Jesus was born in the Spring of 4 BC. Mt 2 gives the fullest account of this. Jesus was born before the death of Herod. The same Herod that ordered the death of the children, the father of Archelaus. That Herod died shortly after the birth of Jesus. Josephus, and several other sources say Herod died late 4 early 3 BC. We learn from Luke 1:26 that John was 6 months older than Jesus, placing his birth in the fall of 5 BC.</font>
I agree with your deduction about the birth of Christ being in Sept (probably festival time)
I am curious how you came to the conclusion that it was in app. 5 BC?
Thanks.
