MILITARY FELLOWSHIP GROUP OF SAN DIEGO=CFCMI

Why the name-change? Are they trying to give themselves a make-over?

Change your name, Change your website; sorry, but it won't fly.

True change comes from within.

Get real, CFCMI!

SAILOR BEWARE!!!!!

These guys will
ruin your career,
take you away from your family, friends,
steal your health and your youth,
and your sanity.
They will also take all your money. They will try take your soul if you let them.

Do not accept any invitations from them!!! Do not give them an inch! NOT EVEN AN INCH!

They will tell you that theirs is the only valid baptism--another lie!

Evidence of the decline...

Apparently, the San Diego branch of CFC has been reduced to four park benches and Bibles on a banquet table. Good on them. Next stop, soap box and megaphone on a street corner!

They did try and modernize their webpage. Had some arrogant guy thanking CFC for their "sponsoring" of the new fellowship. (providing anti-tirading $ to Dan most likely). What's with the goofy beret? He gave me the willies!!

Beret--Tom Cruise? Tim Hutton? He looks like a wanabe actor, let alone a wanabe preacher. (LOL)

A little speakers' corner practice would do them good.

I love that shot of the guys in the grandstand, "Pastor Daniel Lantis thank you for the fellowship." I doubt that anyone actually said that to Lantis.

Like I said on another thread these guys are 18-23 years of age and can not remember all the sex scandals of the 70s, 80s or 90s regarding CFCMI. The LRD trial was 15 years ago. Some of these guys were babies then! Amazing how history repeats itself.

Yeah, they are pretty young, and don't have a clue about the "Bishop's" pedophiliac history. However, these sailors are probably computer-savy, and I'm SURE will stumble upon the TRUTH at some point...maybe by browsing myspace or googling, perhaps...

CFC San Diego posted a pic of 4 sailors at a luncheon....If anyone knows these guys, you might want to drop them a note to check out the history of their new fellowshipping buddies....

I just don't want anyone to "Gitcha!!!"

Peace, tj

Looks like some sailors went to the Zoo. Good times.

Looks like some sailors went to the Zoo. Good times. I guess it's what they call "love bombing". It appears to be the same 4 to 5 guys in all the pictures. They don't look exactly happy anymore. I guess it is from getting yelled at by the crazy Lantis.

It's pretty interesting how they're using these field trips to lure young sailors into their near-dufunct "Fellowship Group." Maybe they can go to Chuck E. Cheese next week.

I think it is important to note that they hold their Wednesday meetings at 32nd St. Naval Base. (from their web site) Those who were stationioned out there will know what this means. I wonder why the Navy allows this. I know in past Maranatha was allowed on base.

They meet Sundays in a bowling alley, I was recently told. This is really moving up!:D They number 20-50.

I hope their base C. O. knows about CFCMI. I bet he doesn't want to touch this one.

We went there last night! That place is fun! They used to be lame--like 20 years ago. I had a blast playing Skee-Ball.

Maybe anyone who joins CFCMI could be given free tokens or ticket for prizes!!:D

Joe Watson

It has been brought to my attention that there has been a more fundamental shift in San Diego than previously thought. Joe Watson, a CFCMI minister since 1984 and director of the San Diego Fellowship, left CFCMI. The story I received was that Watson had notified the leadership in Norfolk that he was leaving and wanted no further dealings with the ministry.

This is a major blow for CFCMI. Watson was one of the more charismatic proteges of L.R. Davis, and was very effective at working up a crowd during the worship services and sermons. Watson was also implicated as a major figure in the 1992 court case against Davis, even though Watson was never indicted or charged with any criminal wrongdoing. Watson's personal behavior was believed to be part of the reason behind his departure, as he basically did not want to be a hypocrite anymore about his conduct.

Preaching against sin and committing the very things one preaches against will eventually force a man to choose between living for God or living totally in sin. Unfortunately, Watson chose the latter. One can only pray that this former minister has not allowed his conscience to be seared past the point of no return. Carlos Vargas is the current fellowship director in San Diego.

God bless, John

I have been praying for one of the really big pastors to walk out. This will do much to encourage other rank and file members who have leaving bouncing around in the back of their minds.

Joe doesn't fear going to Hell for leaving. No one else should, either. I think God judges our actions more that our religious affiliation.

Apparently, the Holy Spirit is working on Joe's heart. I once met a young sailor who though Joe was really off the wall for being Oneness and for trying to pressure this sailor into being re-baptized. Maybe Joe is catching on to all the folly.

Please God lead more out of that CFC mess.
