We see it in the news, we see it at the churches, we see it in the damaged and anguished faces of the sheep of the flock....

The denomination of "loosely Affiliated" Calvary Chapel churches is coming apart at the seams, piece by piece. Chuck Junior. Skip Heitzig, Raul, Gregg, Brian Broderson, the ever innocent David Hawking...Absolute Power ...Corrupts Absolutely...look at the ruins of Calvary Albuquerque...after the mammoth power struggle and Blood Letting that occurred there. The volumes of unaccounted for dollars and blatant maneuvering of the "Executive Board" (for a real eye opener..find out who the Executive Board consisted of) in order that Skip get "HIS" church back.. should make for an interesting executive level expose and fascinating comedy. As the series of winks, nods and blinks, blatant denials and back-slapping of these merry band of "Brothers In Christ" tap dance into the books...simply as thieves and Charlatans...and most-importantly as those who did such untenable damage to the associated Body of Believers .

How about the years I spent shunning people, good Godly people. Men, women, old and young alike....taking there precious Ministries away from them...small Ministries...but ever so effective to the health of the local church.

Why did they lose there Ministries...they didn't absolutely agree with a point or two the Pastor may have preached recently. Not that they would preach against his point...they simply questioned it. At the time, I was an Elder/Pastor, I had Bought in to the Moses leadership style and if my Pastor said these people were potential nay sayers or back-biters...out they went. I participated in it. I took Ministries away. I looked precious elder women women (who had HEARTS for God)...in the eyes and told them their Ministry has been put on hold and taken off the calendar, while we wait on the Lord!!! It only took a while, as there "friends" turned from them and left them hanging...before they left the place they'd come to know as Sanctuary (there local Church), and the Pastor could let go a sigh of relief...safe once again (a little insecure in his Ministry...wouldn't you say).

After the Pastor's wife had a lengthy affair with one of the worship team members....Chuck Smith ABSOLVED them, suggesting they get marriage counsel from a person he knew. (Three visits - to of all things a SECULAR therapist...after which all was well again). The Pastor would not consider any form of sabbatical, saying that the false love of those in Leadership, toward he and his wife "disgusted him" and that the church would be better off if he stayed at the helm (Absolute Control). The vocal ones...not vocal to the church, but to Senior Leadership, didn't even suggest a resignation. just some time off, with full benefits, to work on the marriage. These were Godly Men and Women. There hope was to see God do a magnificent work in the lives of these two. They were put on the "Enemies List"...and taken care of. I participated once again. Pretty soon, they too were gone...and the Pastor could again let that sigh of relief as he was once again safe. Yet again, the Mose's Principal Absolute Authority/Absolute Obedience.

Then of course, it happened to me. It was ugly and brutal. I had been fingered though and that was that. In going through the unyielding, relentless attack on my character...my wife and Children suffered far more than I did. They still bear the scars.

I tumbled down a long and windy stairway of pride and damnation...only to land on my feet a repentant sinner for my actions in this despicable display of Pastoral Abuse... having seen the error in my way and the devastation wrought by years of Executive Privilege gone unchecked.

These days, though I have repented of my sin and have been forgiven, with regard to the matters above, I am still immensely saddened at the broken hearts and dreams of the wonderful Christian Men and Women, who's lives I played such a horrid affair in. Might they forgive me. Those I've contacted have...those I can't contact...well at some point in Eternity we'll hug again.

Yes...Jesus reigns Supreme.

I agree with many of the things you say, but having attended Calvary Chapels and other Christian churches with every type of organazational structure out there. I have seen abuse with elder rule, congregational rule, no head pastor just teaching elders. What is the answer do you think, please let me know?

I believe that as long as man remains in control of the institution modeled by Christ...there will always be problems that will damage the flock and hurt individual lives so very deeply.

The cop out of course was always stated that "...it they are TRUE Christians, Jesus will guide them...".

The answer...not flippant in anyway...the return of Christ for his bride.

Have a wonderful day.

I was reading your communications - I would like to share with you one of the things I came to realize thru what I experienced, while growing up in the faith.

I believe that many of the things we as God's Children suffer, are a part of growing up in the Lord.

It is written that - referring to the Lord, that although He was a son He learned obedience through the things He suffered.

In the Book of Matthew chapter 23 - The Lord gave instructions & commands to His own disciples & to the multitudes - how they were and were not to be related to one another and how they were to be related to their Father who is in heaven.

Matthew Chapter 23:8 - " But do not be called Rabbi for One is your Teacher & you
are all brothers.

23:9 "And do not call any one on earth your father; for One is your Father, He who is in heaven.

23:10 "And do not be called leaders; for One is your Leader, that is Christ.

Now had we been obedient to keep these instructions and commands and I say commands because the Lord Jesus instructed saying and do not.- we would not have suffered many things that we have suffered at the hands of those we love, our brethren.

We are not to call to or look to any one as our spiritual Teacher - this is not a place of authority given to man by God. This honor is reserved for and belongs alone to the Holy Spirit.

If we keep the Word of the Lord we will not look up to one another as the source of truth - but we will all be brothers who each seek God, concerning any matter and the Holy Spirit will lead us - each - into all the truth. And when having received the truth from the Holy Spirit we will find ourselves in agreement.

Jesus also spoke that you have no need for "any man" to teach you but the Holy Spirit when He comes will lead you into all the truth.

we are not to look up to or call to "any one" on earth as our spiritual Father - no matter who they are - this relationship of Father belongs alone to the Father, our Father who is in heaven. So when we look to any one on earth as our god as our source of life, of Salvation, exalting them, revering & honoring them, giving them the place that alone belongs to the Father - we are not keeping and obeying the Word of the Lord who spoke these things - which remain perfect today as they were in the day He spoke them in the temple - to those who came together to Worship God - who were both a people and a community of believers in One God.

The Lord instructed, and taught both His own disciples and the multitudes that they should not take a place of being together spiritual leaders - in relationship - to those they were to be related to as brothers. For One is your Leader & that is Christ.

If we examine how we are related to one another as believers - I think we can see that many of our suffering came about because we were made vulnerable to sufferings because we were not keeping and abiding in what the Lord taught and commanded.

The Lord Jesus Christ also said, no man takes my life, I lay it down & I take it up,
this commandment I received from My Father.

So the Father places us in a place in Christ as free men & women. Who have their own free wills to live their lives freely - that no one can religiously press them into service, using them and taking from them their life, that the Father has given them - using the Lord to gain access to your lives and to motivate you to surrender yourself and what is yours, to someone else for what seems to be a greater purpose.

Christ died to set us free - so that we might seek God to come to know Him as both God & Father, that we might freely worship God in spirit & In Truth. So that we are no longer made subject to any mans ideas as to what is our acceptable worship of God. So that we will be able to know what is the voice of man and what is the voice & the Spirit of God.

There are many things and ways of thinking that need to be corrected in how we think and live our lives in our relationship to one another as believers.

We can count on learning obedience to God thru the things we suffer whether in ignorance, immaturity, naivety, not knowing or whether doing wrong knowingly - doing wrong.

Some things to think about.

With Love,
Sherry

Dear mrjohnm,

I was reading the thread you started on 2-24-08 about what is going on in the ministry and how the ministry does it's business, How in general all those who are under the rule of the ministry are vulnerable & your report of how any one who might be of a different mind is illuminated as a ministry.

I read how you yourself were rejected and discredited and removed from the office as pastor/elder, how thru your own personal suffering & of the suffering your wife & children have experienced , that you were humbled & how your eyes were opened, for you to see & for you to realize what you were a party to and in, was wrong - was not of God.

What devastation a man suffers when all he gave himself to joyfully believing he was doing the will of the Lord, comes to find out how far he missed the mark in being a servant of the Lord.

I believe this is part of the fiery ordeal that exists among us- that God's fire is in our midst & that He is purging us and refining us as pure gold & He is bringing forth men who will seek Him, and draw near to Him and men will believe Him & find Him and come to know Him as He is and then they will highly above all the heavens - will esteem Him, honor Him & exalt Him on the throne of their hearts - on earth & they because they found Him can but love Him - they will come to keep His Word, will give themselves to doing His will, as they find Him. And I believe that just as it is written that - all things will work together for good for those who love God & called according to His purposes.

You wrote the answer was for the Lord to return,
It is written regarding our Lord that the heavens must contain Him until every knee is bowing & every tongue is confessing that Jesus is Lord to the glory of the Father.

All things are possible with God - I believe the answer is for men and women to seek God to know Him personally because you can not worship and adore some one you do not know and you can not know how great our God is unless you seek Him and get to know Him.

Then shall we know, when we follow on to know the Lord.

one of multitudes,
Sherry
