Subject: Allegation Update re: Subliminal Advertising in the "Battlefield Earth" Movie
Three weeks have passed since F.A.C.T.Net, a non profit
organization, broke the story surrounding allegations that
the
movie "Battlefield Earth," staring John Travolta
and distributed
by Warner Brothers, may contain sophisticated subliminal
advertising designed by the cult Scientology, to recruit
viewers
into their cult and influence them to reject psychiatry and
other mental health organizations. (Go to www.factnet.org
and see the Editorial called "Warner forced to halt
distribution of Travolta film, Battlefield Earth?" for
all allegation details.) F.A.C.T.Net posted
a formal request in numerous public forums, the original of
which was sent to Warner Brothers, asking them to make a
public statement on the "Battlefield Earth"
subliminal advertising allegation as well as other serious
allegations surrounding the films' release. Warner Brothers
has remained publicly silent.
Because of this failure to answer the allegations,
F.A.C.T.Net has just forwarded a request to the boards of
the leading advocacy organizations to seek their assistance
in convincing Warner Brothers to immediately and publicly
answer all the allegations listed at the end of this
document. (See copy of request at end of this document.)
Additionally, due to the severe harm that threatens
the general public should the allegations prove true,
F.A.C.T.Net formally requests that Warner Brothers disclose
all the specific
due diligence procedures it used to verify or refute each
allegation.
The organizations that F.A.C.T.Net has asked to intervene
in the Warner Brothers refusal to answer the allegations
include:
The Motion Picture Association of America
The Screen Actors Guild
American and International Theater Owners Associations
The American Psychiatric Association
World Psychiatric Association
National Mental Health Association
The Child Welfare League of America
Other leading Advocacy groups for Mental Health, Children
and young adults.
A quick summary of the "BattleField Earth" allegations that Warner Brothers must answer:
1. That the cult Scientology has placed highly advanced
subliminal messages in the "BattleField Earth"
film master to surreptitiously recruit new members from the
movie audience and to get the audience to develop a
revulsion for psychiatry and current mental health
organizations and practices.
2. That the cult Scientology has been the secret and PRIMARY
source of financing for the film and has been directly
involved in "BattleField Earth" movie production,
script approval and in the movie production security.
3. That the cult Scientology has pre-designed and will enact
numerous recruiting schemes connected to the films' release,
content and marketing. And, that these recruiting schemes
are mostly targeted directly at children and young adults.
4. That the claims in the "BattleField Earth"
movie trailer and other promotions that "BattleField
Earth" is among the best selling
science fiction books of all time is not true and is based
on misleading volume purchases made by cult members to
falsely
drive "BattleField Earth" up the bestseller book
lists. Because
both Warner Brothers and any theaters showing the film would
and will be held legally liable should the allegations of
subliminal advertising prove true, and, due to their having
been pre-informed of the allegations existence, it is
further demanded that Warner Brothers publicly disclose the
exact due diligence procedures it used to verify or refute
each allegation.

To the Executive director and board of Directors of ( the
numerous non-profit organizations we have contacted )
I am a board member of the nonprofit organization, F.A.C.T.Net. F.A.C.T.Net is a nonprofit Internet archive dedicated to protecting freedom of mind by reducing harms caused by cults and mind control by promoting public dialogue on the issues.
I am writing because it has come to the attention of our organization that certain allegations could cause considerable harm to individuals and organizations with whom you have an advocacy interest.
The Allegations are as follows:
1. That the cult of Scientology has placed highly
advanced subliminal messages in the soon to be released John
Travolta movie, "BattleField Earth." These
messages were designed to surreptitiously recruit new
Scientology cult members from the
movie audience and to influence the audience to develop
negative attitudes toward psychiatry and current mental
health organizations and practices.
2. That the cult Scientology has been the secret and PRIMARY
source of financing for the film and has been directly
involved in "BattleField Earth" movie production,
script approval and in the movie production security.
3. That the cult of Scientology has pre-designed and will
enact numerous additional recruiting schemes connected to
the films' release, content and marketing. And, that these
cult recruiting schemes are mostly targeted directly at
children and young adults
What assistance we need from your organization:
Almost 3 weeks have passed since F.A.C.T.Net, a non
profit organization, broke the allegations that the movie
"Battlefield Earth," staring John Travolta and
distributed by Warner Brothers, may contain sophisticated
subliminal advertising designed by the cult Scientology, to
recruit viewers into the cult and influence them to reject
psychiatry and other mental health organizations. (Go to
www.factnet.org and see the Editorial called "Warner
forced to
halt distribution of Travolta film, Battlefield Earth?"
for all allegation details.) F.A.C.T.Net posted a formal
request in numerous public forums, the original of which was
sent to Warner Brothers, asking them to make a public
statement on the "Battlefield Earth" subliminal
advertising allegation as well as other serious allegations
surrounding the films' release. Warner Brothers has remained
publicly silent.
Because of Warner Brother's failure to publicly respond
to these allegations, F.A.C.T.Net requests that your
organization contact Warner Brothers and also ask them to
immediately and publicly respond to the allegations.
Additionally, due to the severe harm
that threatens the general public should the allegations
prove true, F.A.C.T.Net encourages your organization to
formally request that Warner Brothers disclose all the due
diligence procedures it used
to verify or refute each allegation.
Sincerely,
Lawrence Wollersheim
F.A.C.T.Net Director
