FACTNet, CAN considering hosting conferenceFACTNet and the Cult Awareness Network (CAN) are considering hosting a conference in early 1999. For years before being bankrupted by Scientology’s litigation tactics, CAN hosted very successful and enriching conferences. FACTNet would now like to assist not only in reviving CAN’s good works, but also reviving CAN. To these ends, we are planning a FACTNet/CAN Revival Conference. To help make this Revival Conference far larger than anything Scientology believed it destroyed, we need your ideas and support. Right now our plan is to invite cult education organizations from all over the world and bring together the largest group of people ever assembled –victims, families, counselors, experts, educators, supporters of cult education work – to work together to counter the effects of dangerous cults, particularly Scientology. Since FACTNet has never before hosted a conference, and since CAN’s last conference was years ago, we are asking for your input to help us plan a conference that is lively, timely, and provides people with what they most need in the areas of cults and mind control. We have compiled a questionnaire (see last page of newsletter) to request your ideas for conference scheduling, topics, speakers, and other areas. In addition, we would welcome volunteer assistance both in conference planning and at the conference itself (See questionnaire to volunteer) Already former CAN volunteers are getting plans underway and would make good use of your help. We will also be setting up a section on the FACTNet web page with conference information. Stay tuned. Please fill out and return the questionnaire on the back page of the newsletter. And please be prolific in your responses! It will be so helpful to us and to those who attend. Thanks! --- This editorial/opinion/news alert has been provided or
