Children from the Children of God sect after being released back into their parents custody.

A MAN raised in the controversial religious cult, Children of God, has opened up about his evil upbringing, saying it led to a life of crime and drug addiction.

Joshua Cannane, 24, was one of 56 children taken from his parents in raids at Victorian properties run by “The Family” in the early 1990s.

Bucking a long judicial trend, a federal judge ruled on Wednesday that Louisiana's ban on gay marriage is constitutional.

U.S. District Judge Martin Feldman acknowledged that his ruling "runs counter to all but two other federal decisions," but he goes on to say that other judges went too far in their opinions.

November may be two months away, but billionaire climate activist Tom Steyer and his political action team say they've made climate change a "top-tier" issue in seven key races.

Since unveiling campaigns in seven states across the U.S., Steyer's group, NextGen Climate, said on call with reporters Wednesday that it is "successfully making climate change a top-tier issue for voters."
