White House stays mum over Chaney-leak story
WASHINGTON -- The White House on Tuesday sidestepped questions about whether Vice President Dick Cheney passed on to his top aide the identity of a CIA officer central to a federal grand jury probe.
Notes in the hands of a federal prosecutor suggest that Cheney's chief of staff, I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby, first heard of the CIA officer from Cheney himself, The New York Times reported in Tuesday's editions.
A federal prosecutor is investigating whether the officer's identity was improperly disclosed.
The Times said notes of a previously undisclosed June 12, 2003, conversation between Libby and Cheney appear to differ from Libby's grand jury testimony that he first heard of Valerie Plame from journalists.
"This is a question relating to an ongoing investigation, and we're not having any further comment on the investigation while it's ongoing," White House press secretary Scott McClellan said.
Pressed about Cheney's knowledge about the CIA officer, McClellan said: "I think you're prejudging things and speculating and we're not going to prejudge or speculate about things."
McClellan said Cheney--who participated in a morning video conference on the Florida hurricane from Wyoming, where he is speaking at a University of Wyoming dinner tonight--is doing a "great job" as vice president. The spokesman also said Cheney's public comments have always been truthful.

Friend: Cheney says Washington is 'all BS,' full of 'suffering fools'

Michael Roston
Raw Story
Friday, January 19, 2007

Vice President Cheney believes Washington is full of "suffering fools" and "all BS" that should be ignored, according to a friend quoted today in the Washington Post.

The Post's David Ignatius ponders how Vice President Dick Cheney manages to retain so much power in the White House in spite of the ruinous political consequences that his policy has had for the Bush presidency. One insight Ignatius offers is that Cheney is driven by a belief that politics in the nation's capital is "all BS" that he believes should be ignored.

In his column, Ignatius suggests that "Cheney has been the political equivalent of a black hole -- exerting a powerful but mostly invisible force on decisions. The Office of the Vice President has had a gravitational weight that sucked in other personalities and entire branches of the government without emitting light or heat that would explain the decision-making process."

With this analogy in mind, the Post columnist acknowledges that Cheney's influence in the White House has sometimes waned. But an important principle has held throughout his service in the Bush White House: his "urging [of] the president to ignore politics and maintain a tough course on Iraq."

According to an old Cheney friend, Ignatius writes, in the aftermath of Watergate the vice president maintained a frame of mind in which "he got tired of suffering fools."

"He thinks it's all BS," the friend quipped.

Cheney's disregard for Washington politics then "ripened when he made enough money as chief executive of Halliburton that he didn't have to care what people in Washington thought."

Ignatius warns that Cheney's way of thinking, if it is sustained, could result in a confrontation between the White House and Congress on Iraq and other issues.

The full column can be read at the Washington Post website.

A lot of damage can be done in a short amount of time. Since this administration is using this 21,000 troops as a stategy for surrounding Iran.

In case you didn’t know it, allow me to update you on how broke our US Military really is. First of all some of us out here know the 1st income tax is Social Security, the 2nd is IRS which is voluntary and the 3rd is Postal. You think extensions are killing us let me share with you the cost to the families to have a soldier in your military. Besides sacrificing them on the cross to gain control of all the oil in the world for world power and to hide the fact our American dollar backs it and the axis of evils as Bush regime calls them, are threatening to dump the American dollar which backs this country, is getting ready to be dumped by several countries, this war on Terrorist is a scam of the American dollar going down.

When the cell phone companies rape us military families with enormous cell phone charges and we have to fight them off every monthly bill; then we all get out there and hustle up calling cards for the ones over there all ready. We by a card for 20.00 dollars and get 320 minutes; they charge 35 cents a minute when used as if we are so stupid to figure it out and I guess some of us are…is a rip off to our soldiers and their families. What a shame when I see things on TV where our Ambassadors are telling the Iraqi people how wonderful Bush is and they tell him they are “NOT” going to corporate until Bush is gone and out of office………….. That says it all. I can’t believe you will throw away your country for money. What about your children…your grandchildren , your great great grandchildren. The Native American peoples had it right when they taught their peoples….What you do to day will affect the next 7 generations. When our babies get packages from us and we have to pay 200.00 to have it mailed to them……Doesn’t it bother any of you when you see these soldiers coming home every day with no limbs. Or how about how Bush set up pharmacudical companies to line his pocket while sedating all the families with sleep medication and anti-depressants or anxiety medications and for these injured warriors but forgot to fix the medical facilities to prepare for the wounded when they come home. Lets see...each and everyone of you live in a state which I am sure has been trying to fight off the RFID chipping. It won't be to long you will be wearing the Mark of the Beast chip yourself. Which hand do you want it in?
Left or right!

God be with you all when this all bottoms out.
