WARNING: "The International Centre For Yogic Arts and Sciences" has now changed their name to "The Institute of Yoga Therapy & Yoga Teacher Training". They are the same place!!! They've moved and changed their name, but they are the same group of con artists. This is very common with these types of dishonest organizations.

For anyone researching information on this "training centre", search ICYAS or go to this link:

Hi everyone,

I'm writing an article about some of the sketchier aspects of the yoga industry in Toronto and I'm on here to ask if anyone who's had some negative experiences at a school here would be willing to talk to me.

It's basically about how there is no strong regulatory body in Canada, so unlicensed teachers are sprouting up, which can be dangerous and fraudulent.

This is for a new magazine about the business of culture in Toronto. Our first issue is due out in December, both in print and online (www.kapitalmag.ca).

Anyone willing to help?

If so, please email me at: steve@kapitalmag.ca

Thanks!

This article is strictly my opinion on Yogi Akal and The School of Yoga Therapy and Natural Medicine, the article reflects both what has happened to me, stories I have heard that has happened to others and mostly words that Yogi Akal and other staff has told me directly who work for The School of Yoga Therapy and Natural Medicine.

Dear unsuspecting potential students of The School of Yoga Therapy and Natural Medicine, Akar Jantri International, Yogavision and the International Center for Yoga Arts and Science.

One has to wonder why there are so many names for one little school ???

*****BEWARE*****

I am an EX-EMPLOYEE of The School of Yoga Therapy and Natural Medicine and Yogi Akal and I must say that I have to date not been paid by YOGI AKAL and The School of Yoga Therapy and Natural Medicine. There is myself and many others that are owed money too.

In my opinion there is a large unethical trend that has plagued The School of Yoga Therapy and Natural Medicine and I should hope that none of you that read this actually consider spending your money at this organization. The School of Yoga Therapy and Natural Medicine

Don’t believe what anyone at The School of Yoga Therapy and Natural Medicine have to say, I am an insider telling you what I have heard and experienced.

Staff, including myself, as I was a salesperson who was earning both a salary and a commission on every person who signed up, was told that The School of Yoga Therapy and Natural Medicine has facilities to find people jobs after their training, the fact is that this information is not correct because Yogi Akal is trying to take The School of Yoga Therapy and Natural Medicine to the next level and his intention is to someday have this structure in place, but at the moment there is no structure, in fact he had relied on me, a salesman, to design the model on how the admissions department should run and very quickly made me the Chief Admissions officer, that is when I realized that in my opinion this school is going no where. Had I have told anyone information to elude to the fact that they would receive training and then a job or any type of post support for a job then I must apologize as I was mislead by the executive staff in believing that there was such structures in place. But I soon found out that there was not and that it was merely an intention.

Any information that you may receive in my opinion are merely intentions of The School of Yoga Therapy and Natural Medicine and I urge you to request proof that these statements and promises are indeed in place before you part with your money to the school of yoga therapy and natural medicine.

This is on of the reasons that I left Yogi Akal and The School of Yoga Therapy and Natural Medicine.

While I was at The School of Yoga Therapy and Natural Medicine I had heard horror stories of students who pay their tuition and are then never to see their funds again when a program changes, Yogi Akal has specifically told me that he would not consider paying people back. He says why should he refund money, "This is a school and if they don’t like the course then they should not have applied" or “There have been students who are not satisfied and then they want their money back, I am not in the business of giving refunds” there is always an excuse or reason not to refund money. This is another one of the reasons I left The School of Yoga Therapy and Natural Medicine and Yogi Akal.

Caveat Emptor.

Although this site may have disgruntled ex students, I am not one. I have worked for Yogi Akal and The School of Yoga Therapy and Natural Medicine and they owe me only $600 and change, (so far). Yogi Akal and The School of Yoga Therapy and Natural Medicine will have to eventually pay me because of the wonderful employment standards and laws that protect employees from employers such as Yogi Akal and The School of Yoga Therapy and Natural Medicine.

So take note, this is a real story of how The School of Yoga Therapy and Natural Medicine who in my opinion is an unethical creation designed to take your money and cause financial grief.

If you are a an ex student or employee who is having difficulties then please write to Yoga Alliance and the American Association of Drugless Practitioners as The School of Yoga Therapy and Natural Medicine has to reapply for registration in the next two months and the more complaints they receive the less chance there is of the school receiving registered status.

I am currently seeking all those that have a grievance with the The School of Yoga Therapy and Natural Medicine or Yogi Akal to contact me as I am seeking to start a class action law suit against these questionable characters who may have once wanted to do some good, but in my opinion became the victim of their own greed through the efforts of large dreams.
