We are not a cult we are just very strict religious people I am sorry for what some of you have incountered but like all things there is always something or someone who takes it too far we worship God. We are not a cult by any means. I highly suggest that you go check a different church out of this faith and read a pamplet or two and then deside. My mother is not Apostolic either and she constantly argued with me over it it almost ruined our mother daughter relationship cause she was so determined that i was in a cult. It is not a cult though and although some go to far not all are like that again I am sorry for the bad incounters you have had but please do not judge us all by those that did wrong. After all Jesus said that we are not to judge other people. So all I ask is for youi to get all the facts before saying all Apostolics are a cult. |

I too was raised in an Apostolic Christian Church. Yes it is a cult. Just try leaving in one piece if you don't think it is a cult. Try preaching Jesus alone. I joined it, but never came to actually know Jesus personally for many years - sometimes it seems like many "wasted" years. "Strict religious people" you say? Strict for what? What is your purpose? If it's not a slap in the face of Christ, attempting to attain holiness you think you can achieve without Him, than I don't see what ELSE you are doing. Jesus' blood makes you worth sometime, infinitely valuable to God... NOT your "strict religious-ness". Your righteousness is as filthy rags. I value Relationship with Jesus not empty Religion. In fact it scares me that you say you are strict religious people. So. what about Christ? Where does He fit into your black suits and ties, singings, potlucks and everything else you do to edify who...? YOURSELVES and the CHURCH system. How do you feel about all the other churches in the body of Christ? Do you too have issues with evangelism and missions? What about baptising that young convert who still wears pants to school and wants to be in choir - after all she's not submitting in humility is she?! How do you feel about "letting back in" that young man who committed fornication and was publically disciplined and banned? Did YOU eat with him or were you allowed to extend your hand to "greet" him, even though he was "under the ban?" Are you allowed to have a Bible study - or follow God's call to a mission in a country/city that doesn't have an AC church?? Yet, it's humanly impossible to walk away from this cult - it's terribly PROUD and wrapped up in how righteous you think you are. It makes you look good though and that's the tragic part because you get these warm fuzzies from all the affermation you receive ("what a faithful Bro/Sis" "He's standing up for the Beloved Faith!") Plus you've created this false enemy (other Christians) so you feel somehow superior because you aren't "taking the easy way" like they are, right? YIKES. So, if it's not a cult - could you go to another church for a few months just to visit? Another Bible-based church (if you even believe there is other "true churches" out there - but their members may not look like you...hmmmm). What would the other members think? Try it - you'll get excommunicated like we did. Better yet, take communion there - that a sure way to get excommunicated - you certainly have heard of "spiritual fornication" or "fraternization with nominal Christians" right? Wake up - listen to your mom! Most of all, read your Bible. PRAY for the Lord to open your spiritual eyes, because you have sadly been "taken captive by hollow and empty traditions and philosopies" as it says in Colossians 2. Yes you worship God - so does nearly every other relgion - a god of some sort anyway. BUT what about JESUS CHRIST. WHO is HE to you!? Check out cult tactis, mind control techniques, brainwashing and indoctrination. If you are open at all to the Lord's leading, you too will see it. I'll pray for you. I hate what Satan has done to so many of us in the form of this cult - I was just where you are not too long ago. Satan is our enemy. Turn to Jesus - don't let anyone diminish what He did for YOU. Don't let anyone tell you what He did wasn't enough and you somehow need to maintain and work for your own salvation! Let the name of Jesus rule your life. Blessings! |
