The Book of Mormon (BOM) is claimed to be another testament of Jesus Christ by the
Mormon Church. It is also claimed that this book is a holy book, given to
the "prophet" Joseph Smith for translation by God. If these claims are true,
is God then a racist?

The God of the Bible is no respecter of persons: Acts
10:34, Romans 2:11, Eph. 6:9 etc. The God

Christians should not be racist because God onlyl cares about the heart.

Yet Mormonism cares a great deal about the color of one's skin:

2 Nephi 5:20-25:
Wherefore, the word of the Lord was fulfilled which he
spake unto me, saying that : Inasmuch as they will not hearken unto thy
words they shall be cut off from the presence of the Lord. And behold, they
were cut off from his presence.
21) And he caused the cursing to come upon them, yea even a sore
cursing, because of their iniquity. For behold, they had hardened their
hearts against him, that they had bevcome like unto flint; wherefore, as they
were white, and exceedingly fair and delightsome, that they might not be
enticing unto my people the Lord God did cause a skin of blackness to come
upon them.
22) And thus saith the Lord God; I will cause that they shall be
loathsome unto thy people, save they shall repent of their iniquities.
23) And cursed shall be the seed of him that mixeth with their seed; for
they shall be cursed even with the same cursing. And the Lord spake, and it
was done.
[etc.]

The Lord I worship, and billions of other Christians worship, does not curse people by giving them certain a skin color. The
Jewish/Christian God sees the person's heart, not the color of their skin. The Mormon god(s) are/is not the God of the Bible.

Please also note these other LDS "holy scriptures":

Alma 3:6-11

And the skins of the Lamanites were dark, according to the mark which was
set upon their fathers, which was a curse upon their fathers, which was a
curse upon them because of their transgression and their rebellion against
their brethren, who consisted of Nephi, Jacob, and joseph, and Sam, who were
just and holy men.
[etc]

The people of color who are my brothers and sisters in Christ are part of the
body of Christ by their faith and God's grace. The color of their skin has ZERO to do with
how God judges. He judges our hearts, not skin. LDS salvation is contrary
to Christian salvation, making this just one of the numerous reasons why
Mormonism couldn't possibly be Christian.

May the truth of the gospel of our true Living Lord and Savior Jesus Christ
be your guide. You will not find the God who can save you through Mormonism.
Seek Him in His only Word, the Bible, and you will know the Way, the Truth
and the Light of our only Savior Jesus Christ.

Careful, cjv. Solopilot will be on here claiming 'you are playing the race card' because you dare mention what his church taught.
He is a brown, polynesian man (according to him, and blacks are afros) so why he is offended is beyond me. He left the 'protestants' because they were only going to allow him to lead a black church. He found the mormon church to be more to his liking because 'he is comfortable there'.
personally, I believe sp is prejudiced against his own people. Before his 'illness' he was preparing to get his temple recommend in order to be baptized for his deceased grandmother.
Perhaps grandmother had a few words with the Lord about that.
Mormons have the strangest reasoning for the choices they make than any peoples I have ever known.
It was difficult for me to have telephone conversations with my Mother, a devout mormon. Each call started with 'what are you working on', 'how are you doing'. If I said 'nothing', or 'nothing much', she always said 'you must be working on something'. I am so grateful now because when she asks what I am doing I tell her I am doing a study of scriptures, that I speak to others on a website, and I even use four translations of the Bible and find them to be scripturally sound. She doesn't ask me what I am 'working on' any longer. Any christian mother would be so pleased, but to my Mom this is not a good thing because it has absolutely nothing to do with mormon works.
She doesn't know that this is a cult site. It is easier for the mormon members of my family not to mention 'Heavenly Father' to me because it is an opening for me to witness to them about the Lord Jesus Christ, and God. My mother never uses those words. Only 'Heavenly Father'. She told me she is ready to die but lives to finish the geneology of my stepfather because she promised him she would. Believe me, that doesn't make a daughter feel very good. I know my mother loves her children, but not even God can compete with her belief that 'the works' must be done in order for my stepfather to be the God of their new world and her to be the #1 Goddess (that is how she describes their eternal selves). Mormonism does not glorify God. It prepares a person for exaltation (becoming a god or goddess). Satan's lie.
God, who is all knowledge, does not need geneology to know his children. Would my mother forget me if she didn't have a document to show that I am her daughter.

godchild darlin' I have no fears of solo in the least. But thanks for the heads up.

I am not a racist, Christians should not be racist, but the Church Solo belongs to IS racist! So why any person of color would want to belong to the Mormon Church is beyond -- WAY beyond me!

You have such interesting stories to tell godchild, I always love to read your posts. And where there is breath, there is hope godchild, I know you know this. So your Mom may not know the Lord now -- but she may, with prayer, before her time on earth is done.

One of these days I'll tell you about my father -- estranged from me for most of my young adult life -- who was one of those Catholics who went to church every Sunday, but who'd go out in the parking lot and curse everyone who got in his way as he was leaving.

I was an only child and I felt that all the years of his life, he never knew the Lord, but you couldn't tell him that.

BUT -- I do believe, at the hour of his death, my prayers were answered. I couldn't be there with him, -- but it's such a "God story" as I call it. I was on my way to him, from Ft. Campbell, Kentucky -- driving in my car with my three babies, three dogs and a wing and a prayer to Florida. I didn't know where I was going and my husband was with his Battallion off doing Army things. So I was on my own.

I prayed and prayed all the way to Atlanta that the Lord would turn my father's heart to him -- somehow -- send His angels, send SOMEONE so that my father would have a true salvation knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ.

And I believe that happened. Not because I willed it so -- I never had the type of relationship a daughter should have with her father -- but because of what I was told by witnesses later.

So more on this at a later time -- even until the last moments before death -- there is hope. Never stop praying for your Mother -- and I'm certain you know that!

Not only is the mormon religion a physicaly racist organazation it is a spiritualy racist one too. When a group of people claims to have access to "special truths" and a higher knowledge and when these things are to be "kept secret" it creates an attitude of "join our group or remain inferior" this problem is not only faced by non lds people but within their own scocial system as well, the mormon mind is constantly in a state of flux over who is spiritualy superior and who is inferior, who is more rightous, who is sinning ect.. and no matter how good of a person one might be, they remain inferior as long as they don't accept the mormon beliefs.

Mormons and people raised in the LDS cult are programed to judge things as they appear on the surface without giving any thought or investigation as to the true nature of things, in fact the LDS teach its members at a very young age that looking outside of whats being taught within its own walls is dangerous, to help illistrate the point I'm trying to make on "spiritual racism" is, if I was to teach my children that "white people were the only true human beings" and questing this is evil, would they not grow up to be racists? the same princeple holds true with spiritual teachings since "all those other people dont belong with us" the only difference is while I (or anyone else for that matter) (except michael jackson) cannot change his skin color he can change his beliefs, but beware if you do not change your beliefs to match those of the mormons you will remain inferior.

We may reamin "inferior" in LDS eyes, but not in the Lord's eyes, and that's where my money is...

Well done x11 and sadly, all too true.

cjv:

There are many things which are way beyond you. It doesn't have to be that way, but unfortunately it is.

I'm a Mormon because this church is true. Our doctrines MAKE SENSE and link to each other.

You proudly believe that God would condemn billions of his children to Hell for the sin of having been born at the wrong time -- before they could hear of Christ and believe in him (which John 3:16 says is required). You proudly believe that every marriage comes with an automatic divorce (at the death of either spouse). You proudly believe that we were created to no purpose whatsoever and can never progress (which is a cultic throwback to Egyptian beliefs).

Sorry, cjv, I can't agree with any of those absurd beliefs.

BTW, you need to be careful about what GC says, she is often running somwhere between error and outright lie, such as her claim that I was planning to be baptized for my grandmother. I'm male, I can't be baptized for a female. This is the latest in a long string of comments which anyone who had ever been LDS wouldn't make, yet she (like so many anti-Mormons) claims to have been a Mormon for decades.

x11:

Please show me ANY "mainstream" Christian church which teaches that one need not be Christian to be "saved" or that they don't have "special knowledge" not held by non-Christian churches. ALL Christian churches teach "join our group or remain inferior" and use the Bible to back themselves up.

No matter how good a person might be, unless they are YOUR kind of Christian, they are not only "inferior" but they are doomed to Hell when they die.

I could substitute "Christian" for "Mormon" all through your post and it would apply.

How much of the Koran have you read? Or the Torah? Can you tell the difference between Zen and Shinto? How much "looking outside of what's being taught" by your current church have you done?

Mote. Beam. Eye.

If anyone has the time, please go back through the posts when I was questioning baptism for the dead and asked Solopilot about his grandparents. See what he said about preparing to get his recommend in order to go to the temple for them.

Luke 19:10 For the Son of Man is come to seek and to save that which WAS lost.
Psalms 2:2 Many there be which say of my soul, There is no help for him in God. Selah.
But thou, O lord, art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of mine head.
I cried unto the Lord with my voice, and he heard me out of his holy hill. Selah.
I laid me down and slept; I awaked; for the Lord sustained me.
I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people, that have set themselves against me round about.
Arise, O Lord; save me, O my God; for thou hast smitten all mine enemies upon the cheek bone; thou hast broken the teeth of the ungodly.
Salvation belongeth unto the Lord; thy blessing is upon they people. Selah.
John 3:11-13 Verily, verily, I say unto thee, We speak that we do know, and testify that we have seen; and ye receive not our witness.
If I have told you earthy things, and ye believe not, how shall ye believe, if I tell you of heavenly things?
And no man has ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of Man which is in heaven. And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up: that whosoever believeth in him, shalt not perish, but have eternal life.

Solo -- you are putting words in my mouth. I never said someone had to be "my brand" of Christian to be Christian. That's just an out right distortion of the truth and you know it.

There are billions of Christians I agree with. We're called Baptists, Catholics, Methodists, Pentecostals, Lutherans, Assemblies of God etc. We all do not agree on the details but we agree on the fundamentals of Historical Orthodox Christianity. Some basic fundamental truths:

The Bible is the Holy Word of God.

There is only one God.

We are saved by grace and not works.

YOUR brand -- Mormonism, which may I remind you came along thousands of years after Christianity -- claims it to be the one true Church and claims that even though they teach there are MANY gods and that members themselves can turn into ('progress' into) gods someday -- can't possibly be Christian. I only claim that certain cults can't be Christian because the teachings of these cults are abhorrent to what Christianity truly is.

It's as if I came along today and said, "I don't believe that the Mormon Church is the only true church, I don't believe Joseph Smith was a prophet, I don't believe that the president of the Mormon church is a prophet and I don't believe the Book of Mormon was inspired by God." If I then claimed I'M A MORMON -- wouldn't EVERY Mormon say, "THAT'S IMPOSSIBLE, SHE CAN'T BE MORMON, SHE DOESN'T BELIEVE WHAT MORMONS BELIEVE!"

That's exactly what is going on here. Mormonism literally tosses out the BASIC FUNDAMENTAL CORE BELIEFS OF CHRISTIANITY and yet demands we call it Christan. NOT!

Mormonism comes along in the late 1800's and blasphemes MY faith and the faith of (today) billions. Mormonism denies the very BASIC beliefs of my faith, yet still obnoxiously insists on being called Christian. It's not Carol's personal beliefs that matter -- my beliefs don't mean a thing. It's that the Mormon Church teaches ANTI-CHRISTIAN BELIEFS. Becoming gods is ANTI-CHRISTIAN. Believing that there are THREE gods in the Godhead is ANTI-Christian. Being anti-Trinitarian is ANTI-CHRISTIAN. Believing that someone can baptize dead people by proxy IS ANTI-CHRISTIAN. Believing that some temple ceremony "seals" you to your spouse forever so that you two can rule over your own planet someday and make spirit babies to populate this planet IS ANTI-CHRISTIAN. It's offensive to ANY Christian, not just my "brand" of Christianity, to even UTTER such blasphemy!

By the way -- you don't even KNOW what "brand" of Christian I am. But you know what, even though steel or x11 or godchild isn't "my brand" of Christian, WE'RE IN AGREEMENT. How can that be??? Because we follow the basics of HISTORICAL ORTHODOX CHRISTIANITY as spelled out above and we believe that the Bible is GOD'S WORD.

And as for your assumption about what I know or don't know concerning the Koran -- I own a copy of one of the best translations of the Koran. I've read the Koran, and knowing history AND having read the Koran, I know that it isn't the "religion of peace."

I've studied Shintoism and Taoism and the other Eastern Religions. I've studied Buddhism and have books on my shelves loaded with information about many other religions.

I have no problems with other religions. What I have a problem with is a forgery of Christianity trying to pass itself off as Christian -- i.e. -- the Mormon Church. It's offensive and it's a lie.

Mormonism can't be and never has been Christian. How do I know this? Because I'm a Christian and as a Christian, I am called out to defend the truth of the gospel of Jesus Christ. You do not speak the truth of the gospel. The Mormon Church lies about MY faith and Christianity and that's why I do what I do so that no one will get sucked into this evil, vile and despicable Christian wanna be organization.

I do not hate you, but I DEFINITELY hate the organization you defend. When you defend it, you defend evil and I'm sorry for you. I'm sorry you have scales before your eyes but I know what it's like, I once was like you. I once believed the lies of men and defended it over and above the Bible. I just thank God He delivered me from the brainwashing. I pray someday you will be delivered too. I have hope that you will be.

Read the Bible. You don't have to defend this organization -- if you would just read the Bible, and read how much Jesus loves you and how NO organization can EVER get you to heaven -- you'd find a peace like you've never known.

There is no peace in Mormonism. NO ONE can "work" their way into heaven. No one -- it isn't by works, it's by the blood of Jesus -- it's by His grace that we are saved.

You can be saved too solopilot -- you can come to know the true Jesus who can save you. Don't wait. Your redemption draweth nigh. Turn to Jesus and turn away from Mormonism!

May God bless you and remove the scales from your eyes. Amen!

Let me ask you -- can you speak in tongues? Can you speak in tongues with interpretation? Can you manifest the gift of healing? What about discerning of spirits? or a word of knowledge or wisdom? I can operate the manifestations of the spirit -- not because I'm so special. Any true Christan can if they want to and if they know Jesus Christ as Lord. It's in the Bible. Can you do any of these things? Do you even know where to FIND these things that Christan's have available to them????

Think about it.

In Christ alone I place my trust...

In Christ alone I place my trust...

2Ti 4:1 I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom;
2Ti 4:2 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.
2Ti 4:3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;
2Ti 4:4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.
2Ti 4:5 But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry.

How foolish you show yourself to be, you put such trust in a bunch of people you will never meet, and believe they are honest in what they say, and are not intentionally misleading you - what a joke! I bet if you lot were put in a room to discuss your beliefs, you would not come out with such a luvvy-duvvy attitude - all fake front is what you show, united only by your desires to condemn others - fake Christianity united!

what Christ taught. " Well at least he Got the United part right !

cjv:

You wrote: "I only claim that certain cults can't be Christian because the teachings of these cults are abhorrent to what Christianity truly is."

No, the various Protestant cults are still Christian to one extent or another, despite their manmade doctrines. This statement disagrees with Catholic doctrine prior to the 1960s "Vatican II" council, but you probably don't believe that the Catholic church has any authority.

Are you claiming that you believe the doctrines of most of the 34,000 separate, identified Christian groups in the world? You agree with both the east coast Episcopalians and the Westboro Baptists? How about the Aryan Nations? Do you agree with the Southern Baptist doctrine of segregation churches based on skin color? Which side of the Irish War would you be on? How about that nudist church on Oahu?

No, cjv, you really don't all agree on even the fundamentals of Christianity, and that's just counting Protestants (who claim to be "the" Christians).

Steel:

Which version of the Gospel of Jesus Christ? The Roman Catholic version? The Orthodox? Or one of the newcomers, such as Baptist, Calvinism, Presbyterianism? You know that they are all different.

Come on, stand up and tell us just which of the many subsets of Christianity you hold to, which church you attend (or, at least, which of the major groups it belongs to).

Solopilot,

Just FYI, the Catholic "version" of the Bible is the same as the Protestant version. In some cases, some Catholic Bibles have some added books, but otherwise, they are identical. You're speaking to a former Roman Catholic here -- I know of what I speak.

Second of all -- I'm afraid you need to re-take the summer school class Reading Comprehension 101. I've explained my position on this before, to you as a matter of fact.

IF a Christian organization follows the teachings of the Bible, and they are Trinitarian, I am -- essentially in agreement with them. So yes, most of those groups you named are in line with Historical Orthodox Christian teachings and beliefs. Because they like to sing a different type of music than I care to listen to, makes me more comfortible attending a Baptist church (for example). But if they are true to Biblical teachings and they believe in the One True God -- then I would be like-minded with the members as would other true Christians.

The Arian Nation or their ilk would not fit that description however. They despise people of color or ethnicity. I know the Bible tells us that the color of ones skin is irrelevant. God looks at the heart, He is no respecter of persons. This is what the Bible says.

But as a Mormon -- you wouldn't agree with that, would you? The Book of Mormon teaches that black skin is a curse by the Mormon god (which god BTW?) -- so I'm thinking as a Mormon, you'd be more in line with the Arian Nations...

Bless your heart...

And as for my brothers and sisters in the Lord on this blog, you do not have to be excluded from that group Solopilot. For all I know, your heart may be the Lord's and you may be saved. The same is true of joesdad for that matter. It's not my call as to the status of your salvation.

However, I can tell you this -- the Bible tells us if you believe in false gods and believe what false prophets say, you probably are not saved.

From your fruits solopilot, I'm thinking you do not believe in the same Jesus Christ I do.

If that is so, and the Mormon Jesus is the only Jesus you know, or have ever known, then you do not know the Jesus who can save your soul I'm very sorry to say. The Bible tells us so.

But the "group" I named is not exclusive. The God of the Bible, unlike the Mormon god -- wants us ALL -- even people of color -- to come to know Him in our hearts. Come join us Solopilot. Jesus is waiting for you.

And never assume - you know what that makes out of you and me...

God bless you Solopilot. Jesus loves you too! Now it's time for you to show your love for Him and denounce what men have taught you and come to know the true Living Lord and Savior. He's not found in Mormonism! Come on over!!!! The water's fine!! Bless you Solopilot!!!

In Christ alone I place my trust...

THE DANGERS OF PROFESSION WITHOUT TRUE FAITH

Mat 7:21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
Mat 7:22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
Mat 7:23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

And BTW Solo -- thanks for making my/our point here by saying all other Christian organizations are "cults."

Christianity -- Catholicism and Protestantism -- far precedes Mormonism by hundreds/thousands of years -- Mormonism comes along in the 1800's and not only has the audacity to say all other Christian organizations are false, but then they make up these incredibly cock-a-mamie rituals, need for wearing special underwear, peep stones and hats that "translate" gold plates - weird and bizarre teachings (the list is endless) -- and not only claim that this stuff is Christian, THEY proclaim they are the only TRUE Christan Church.

Then LDS get upset when when we refute the utter ridiculousness of these Mormon Claims and tell the truth about the blasphemous, wicked teachings of the Mormon Church.

The LDS Church started this debate -- you solo perpetuate it -- that is why we Christians come here to defend the faith and tell the truth of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

In Christ alone I place my trust...

cjv: I am still intrigued (I have asked before)why you have chosen Mormonism to vent your frustration against, are we to see additions to you web site with similar misinformation about other religions?

But I am also intrugued at how you justify your refusal to actually discover the truth about what we believe, hiding behind a concoction of quotes you can't understand - something strange there.

joesdad, and I've answered you before. Apparently you've merely skimmed my web site, therefore you can say little to critique it when you haven't read what is written there. I give a lengthy reason right on the opening page why Mormonism.

http://users.churchserve.com/pa/obadiahministries/

Secondly, I talk about the cult The Way International on one of the links on the front page. In fact, my book is about the cult of TWI. I talk about the book as well. So I have other "religions" or actually Christian cults, I talk about on the web site. Not strange, you just didn't read what's there. Why not go to the source, as I do with Mormonism, before you try to criticize it? You give lip service to having gone to the web site, but you don't even know what's there, and then accuse me of something I don't have there that IS there. Now THAT'S strange.

And joe -- as I've said before -- prove what I write is wrong. You babble on and on that what I say is not the "truth" about what you "believe." OK -- challenge what I say. Be specific. You've tried this only one time. I answered all of your charges over and over and over in another thread, but you always dodge the issue when I show you are wrong by quoting from your own LDS sources. Someone else even commented, "We quote from their OWN SOURCES and yet they still won't see it!"

As I've challenged you before and do so again -- prove that the LDS references, books and materials I'm using are in error. Get specific, prove that I'm not telling the truth.

But you can't -- because not only do I use LDS materials and so-called "sacred books" when I make charges here, but it's just plain the truth. But you know that deep down joe -- it's your pride that won't let you stop your persistent, obsessive, baseless accusations against me personally.

But I remember what that was like when I was in the cult I was in. I was so full of pride and empty superiority.

You Mormon men don't scare me as you do Mormon women. I know that you're just men, not "embryo gods" endowed with a "priesthood." Jesus is the only High Priest I need tremble before. So I do not shudder and quake in my sandals just because you "speak."

You should shudder though when you say blasphemous things about God. I pray someday you'll repent and confess your sins and go before the Lord of the Bible and profess to Him that you submit to His authority as it tells us in Romans 10:9-10 to do.

Do this before it's too late joe. It's great to be a member of the family of God, come join in!

May the Lord Jesus Christ touch your heart and turn you away from the evil teachings of a false organization and bring you home to Him. May the Holy Spirit change your heart so that it becomes meek to the God who can save your soul. May you do this today - He awaits! Our redemption draweth nigh! In the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.

I'll keep praying for you joe.
