This subject is very important, not only historically, but also as evidence of satanic activities of Brigham Young, Prophet and President of the LDS church. I think it deserves further study. He discusses among other things, the mormon churches denials, and actions after the slaughter of innocent men, women and children. It would be helpful for mormons posting to recommend any sites or books they have on the subject in order to keep the discussions objective. | ||

Godchild From the little that I have read about this massacre, I agree with you that it was a horrible thing that happened. However, I think you are going overboard labeling the entire present day religion of mormonism as being "satanic" because of it. It will not open all Christianity to the charge, because mormonism is not christianity. I am against the leadership, organizers of the mormon church. Many of the members are innocents because they have not been told the truth. You and I may have a different definition of satanic. If something is against God, in my opinion it is for satan. I do not condone any evil thing done in the name of God, no matter what the name of the organization. | ||

President Gordon Hinkley, mormon apostle, went to the dedication and placing of a plaque (purchased by descendants of the victims, the state, and the mormon church). A Baptist minister led the ceremony but Hinkley spoke and these are exerpts from his speech on behalf of the lds church. Hinkley said he came as a peacemaker. "This is not a time for recrimination or the assigning of blame. We do not know what happened here and we will never know." Then Hinkley goes on to say the lds church was NOT involved in the killings. "That which we have done must never be construed as an acknowledgment on the part of the church of any complicity in the occurances of that fateful and tragic day." The Associated Press, Idaho Statesman, 9/13/99 On the one hand Hinkley as spokeman for the lds, says we will never know what happened, then turns right around and says the mormons were not involved. This is just one more example of how mormons think! I'm sure the church thought at that moment, 'it's over. Let's forget about it.' The day Hinkley spoke placed the lds church's stand in the history books. | ||

I see that my point went right over your head. If you proclaim that the entire current religion is evil (or satanic) because they did evil things in the past, then Christianity could also be called evil because they did evil things in the past (e.g. pogroms, crusades and inquisitions). | ||

Yaakov, are you thinking of christianity as man's way? I think of christianity as God's way, so my statement still stands. I don't put the pograms, crusades, and inquisitions on God's plate, I put it on man's. | ||

You're blinded by your hatred of the church conveniently dismissing the MMM, validating your ill feelings for the LDS church. But I assure you that no shedding of blood was done in the name of God, inspiration or the name of the LDS church. - The events that took place were a matter of bad circumstances and poor judgement from those that may or may not have been faithful members of the church. - and guess what??. - the LDS church still doesnt have flawless-perfect members.
