As written earlier, Micael Ledwith, former President of Maynooth University, is now affiliated with JZ Knight. He is touted as one of Knight's appointed teachers. He is also under investigation for numerous allegations of sexual abuse of children while at Maynooth. The following is a recent article on the status of the investigation. 28/03/03 Inquiry must be conclusive As the long-awaited inquiry into sexual abuse by priests in Ferns gets underway, the questions being asked are why the appalling cycle of corruption festered in the Wexford diocese, and how clerics could get away with such perverse activities for so long. The ex-Bishop of Ferns, Dr Brendan Comiskey, who resigned amid a torrent of criticism over his handling of complaints against priests, is among dozens of Church and State figures who will be summoned to the inquiry to give evidence. From the outset, the Government insisted on holding a non-statutory probe into how the Church and State bodies reacted to complaints. This is perceived as a weakness in the process, which will be conducted in private because of the highly-sensitive nature of the issues being examined, and also to protect the identity of people involved. However, Health Minister Michael Martin has the power to compel witnesses to give sworn testimony if they fail to co-operate fully. If there is any attempt at a cover-up, the minister should not hesitate to confer statutory powers on the inquiry. Significantly, the terms of reference will ensure the inquiry which is expected to go on for about a year not only examines priests' behaviour while in Ferns but also when they were stationed elsewhere. Perhaps the most notorious cleric whose activities will be put under the microscope is the late Fr Sean Fortune, who abused boys while based in parishes around Wexford, and also in Belfast and Dundalk. Another local priest, Fr Jim Grennan, sexually assaulted a group of girls as they were being prepared for Confirmation in the parish of Monageer. Mysteriously, the files of a garda investigation into that case have disappeared. Yet another priest of the diocese, Fr Michael Ledwith, became President of Maynooth, where students and staff complained about him to nine separate bishops, but without effect. A member of the academic staff who sought an inquiry was transferred to parish work. Fr Ledwith is currently based with a sect in America. Almost a year after the Government investigation was promised following a high-profile BBC documentary on the diocese of Ferns the inquiry will finally be announced today, under the chairmanship of retired High Court and Supreme Court judge, Justice Frank Murphy. Among the three-member team will be an expert in child psychology. Much of the groundwork has already been done by senior counsel George Birmingham, who conducted interviews with a number of Fr Fortune's victims, including Colm O'Gorman of the One in Four group. On a broader front, Justice Murphy will scrutinise the legacy of abuse by priests at St Peter's College in Wexford, a diocesan secondary school for clerical students destined for the priesthood. What went on in Ferns was so grave that on no account should evidence be swept under the carpet. The objective must be to get at the truth, by lifting the fog of obfuscation surrounding the response to complaints made to both Church and State concerning the abhorrent behaviour of priests. It is in the public interest that this inquiry be detailed and conclusive. Any priest who sexually abuses children should not be allowed to hide behind his status or position, and must face the full rigours of the law. |

Just because there is an inquiry doesn't mean Ledwith is guilty. Please be careful about judging someone guilty of sexual abuse before their is subsantial evidence. That sort of things ruin lives..If he's guilty then lets make others aware...but until we know for sure..please do not create rumors of such porportions...I believe that falls under bearing false witness, which isn't good for anyone. |

I am not saying that we should not pursue leads...and of course once they are confirmed, we must prosecute to the full extent of the law. Those that are proven to be sex offenders should be kept from doing harm again. My point is that the public takes the fact that there is an "inquiry" or an investigation as if it were proven and true. That is why in my experience it is foolish to jump the gun. Posting something in a blog that can be googled when you search the name Micael Ledwith and having it pull up that there is an investigation..can be harmful because of the way the public handles that sort of thing. Have you ever known anyone to be falsely accused of such a horrific thing such as sexual abuse...it is devastating...all I'm saying is let's be careful about what we say and report about others. |

Personally, I was in a wine event and Ramtha had Micael Ledwith stand up and he said that he had sex with a young boy. This was during the truth session that Ramtha had going on, when we would drink wine and tell the truth. So during that time he confess on stage and I was suprise to hear it, but we all have our stuff. Thank God that is not a part of my world. Now what is going on with him now, I do not know because I left the school a couple of years ago. |

There you have it seekandyeshallfind.. Not exactly what you wanted to hear.. I am sure? A sad state of affairs. Let us tread wisely here… What JZ Knight Inc fosters in “Ramthaland” is the "Us and Them" mentality, Most on this board are well aware of this trap. I could name a few bottom feeders in RSE..”in my opinion” But they are not the main issue here.. they will scatter like rats off a sinking ship once they see the show is over, It is the shipwrecked lives that I care about who will need all the understanding and support we can give. Already there are signs that JZ Knight is taking over the show… who knows what The final act will be? David |

No, your right it is NOT what I wanted to hear.... but not because I might have been "proved" wrong but because a young child seems to have been abused. It IS a sad state of affairs. I'm not sure what is going on in "ramthaland" I have my own life, my own family, and my own business to attend to. Truly being the change is the only weapon I have. It is the only weapon any of us have. We are all love, we have all the answers within us...the problem is when people go to external forces and influences to get love and fullfillment. It doesn't work. That kind of mentality will only leave you wanting... I have heard that Ramtha teaches something similiar to this and yet everyone is going to her/him for answers. Is this true that the RSE teaches to look inward for answers? |

seekandyeshallfind, it is true that rse teaches to look inward for answers. however, that is not an UNqualified teaching. the message also includes that students can only evolve so far, and MUST have a "master teacher" such as ramtha. also, that there is no other being like ramtha teaching on this planet. the message is clearly one that fosters dependency, although not all "students" will accept that. some do move on, and some do move and and look within, having realized that ramthaland is not going to get the job done. some students stay dependent, ...to various degrees..., and cannot, or will not, fully let go. there are all sorts of excuses for that. i'm not judging, i'm explaining. i was one of them, but i am no longer. it's like any major life experience. someone can talk to you and explain in great detail what it's like. but the explanation can only go so far. what life is like after fully cutting ties with the school, is a whole new world. there are phases that a person goes through, and it's all quite interesting. and it's all quite about freedom of mind, body and spirit. emailwhatchamacallit@yahoo.com |
