Evermore we are confronted by the phenomenon of mass denial from the ranks of ntcc loyalists and leadership figures. They deny their pet doctrines for public consumption while condemning their congregations to The Lake of Fire for disobedience to the smallest shade of dogma. They deny abusive behavior while persisting in the employment of intimidation and coercion. They deny having seen with their own eyes the mysterious miscarriages of authority of which we complain. And yet… I can remember well the days when I too was a loyalist and defended the .org and its policies. I denied as skillfully as any of these current mouthpieces those sensitive articles by which they live and die. In all that time I was in denial, my real problem was self-deception. I had been trained from my early days of involvement to “see” only that which I was supposed to see, to interpret all actions selectively in favor God’s Man and his surrogates. I was steeped in the teachings that called for authoritarian leadership, top-down martial discipline, and an Elijiac veneration of those appointed to guide me. It was in this way that abusive authority was interpreted as godly leadership, acquisitive graft as divine approbation, and manipulation as love. Those loyalists who appear on these threads to say with all stridency that they have never personally witnessed the terrible events and conditions that we describe are victims of this mind-bending singularity. They have seen everything that we ourselves have seen. They are equally shocked and disturbed. Yet they assume that it is they themselves who are mistaken, that they would not be alarmed if they were more spiritual, choosing always to interpret everything in favor of Davis and his cult. In this way, their assessment of our complaints amounts to a dismissal of "losers" and "crybabies". When we cite examples of abuse, they are familiar with the specified behavior, but choose to translate the behavior into a godly example of godly leadership in which godly men take possession of their godly authority. Having squeezed their own experiences repeatedly through this filter, they are then able to answer us by saying, "I have not seen [the abuse] that you are talking about. Why do you spew this filth?" After all, these actions and behaviors cannot be wrong. This is God’s Organization, the Last Hope for a Lost and Dying World. |

Before finding this forum, I admit I believed the nttc org. was a wonderful church who would never do anyone wrong. I was told by my husband, in his early days of being in ntcc that he has seen people pushed out, all because of what has been said from the pulpit. I would believe that to be the exception, not the norm. Sure some may say those individuals just did not want to serve God. Or did they leave and perhaps their faith and desire to serve God, even through nttc was crushed...due to what they heard preached over the pulpit, or what they experienced from non Christlike attitudes from others in the org. |

Such self-delusion is possible among sincere believers, because it is done in the name of self-sacrifice. Even as Davis' whole business is self-service in the name of self-commitment. "You can be sincere and sincerely wrong!" Davis Exactly, and he is the greatest example thereof. 'And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.' (2 Thess 2:11-12) And what is the stongest delusion of all? That the Spirit is sent to our assembly because of the man preaching, not just because of the gospel preached. And because the people believe that God is honoring the preacher and not just the gospel preached, then the idolatry of the preacher allows for all manner of false doctrine, service, and handling of the Word of God and His flock. Double-honor is NOT to accept what is not written, just because that great preacher said it. And cults would not be possible without the willingness of believers to idolize their speakers, who preach what is not written as though it were! Remember, true departure from cult-Leadership is from REPENTANCE from our own worship of other men than Christ Jesus: 'And I John saw these things, and heard them. And when I had heard and seen, I fell down to worship before the feet of the angel which shewed me these things. Then saith he unto me, See thou do it not: for I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren the prophets, and of them which keep the sayings of this book: worship God.' (Rev 22:8-9) Many people refuse to acknowledge the cult they were in, because they refuse to confess their part thereof. Davis did not go from Good to Bad, but rather from Bad to Worse. And ALL who joined in his bad business of building personal churches by soulwinning programs were GUILTY before God, for not being noble enough to believe His Word ONLY, and let ALL men be liars who are not ministering ONLY as it is written. So are they who depart, good to do so? Yes, by all means and in every way. But we were also WRONG for ever having joined, especially for those (of us) who were in it for the long haul. |
