Hi all... former member, codename "Seamus" here. ;) Yes I am aware of the aural pun there. LOL

I left the tribes in spring of 2007, after reaching the shocking conclusion that
a) the "classless society" they preach is an utter sham.
b) YHWH didn't deserve my loyalty
c) I am on my own WRT spiritual development, whether I like it or not. No organization can help me grow more than I myself can.

There are a lot of things to be said both for and against them. One thing is for sure: they don't have 50 years to play out their scenario. The world's going down the toilet a lot sooner than that.

Nabashalam: Terence McKenna's da MAN!

beenthereonehat: came into oak hill in 98, family? yeah I am an old-time deadhead... Israel Kohlev's hammered dulcimer hooked me back in '89. Sent ones: Deshe, Ben Nabiy Corder, Sho'er. First 'shepherd' Peter Nein, aka Kepha Qayom, who only lasted a bit over 2 yrs total. I used to refer to him as "not-kepha not-qayom". LOL

You had all the "good old southern boys"!

Deshe and Ben Nabi both still had a little "flavor" in them. I liked both of those Chattanooga boys! I got some homemade strawberry jelly from Deshe's Dad and met his Mom just before she passed...

Sho'er was a deadhead wasnt he? Unfortunately he was totally "assimilated" and non-descript by the time I met him...

Hey shame on us! Was Lemuel still there tending his garden and driving his tractor?

That man was a "zealot" for fresh veggies! I remember he used to sleep in the green house in the middle of the winter so he could keep his pot bellied stove fire going through the night!

CARAAAZZEEEE!!!

How do you know that, FOAK? Are you a current member? I was roommates with Lemuel for over a year. He is one of my best friends. And FYI he has never been too keen on how the Edah handles farming. They bog it down in coucils and never actually do anything. this is what caused Anav to pull up his stakes again.(who got baptized in-and left-oak hill twice). They COULD do all the great things they claim to do, if only they had respect as among equals as their main tenet instead of OBEYhttp://obeygiant.com.

It's really pitiful how they treat their widows and orphans.

yes i am a former member.
Lemuel comes to my home town in the summer once a week for the farmers market.

the farmers market ends in September or October.
unless he was shipped out to another community since then, i assume he is still there.

he says he is running the farm by himself.
