Greetings, My name is Corvin, age 37, and I was born and raised in the organization of Jehovah’s Witnesses. I was df’d since 1990 for smoking cigs and was on the threshold of reinstatement last year when I saw what the religion was doing to my children. Suicide attempts by two of my daughters caused by the abuse of their JW mother and stepfather, the pressure to be good little JW clones or else lose the love and approval of their God and parents, together with the loveless and callous way the elders where covering up and dealing with the abuse awakened me to the all-pervasive problem of child abuse in the organization. I took my ex-wife to court without legal representation and not only obtained custody of all three of my children, but also convinced the judge to order no religious discussion, no meetings, and very limited contact with mom and absolutely NO contact step-dad. Children in the org simply need intervention and protection from the cruel and heartless control of their minds and spirits. They are not approved by God, they are not so powerful, and they can be beaten with your honor, dignity, truth and courage, for they have none. The experience with my own children and rescuing them from the organization has brought back suppressed memories of my childhood growing up in the org, the abuse, and my own suicide attempt at age 18 from being shunned by the congregation and parental pressure to either serve the organization of be cut off from family indefinitely . . . and of course there is the threat of death at Armageddon at Jehovah’s hands for being wicked and unacceptable. What lies they tell the children! What a terrible way to treat innocent youth. So it is now my goal to create a safe and open atmosphere for all that have been hurt by the org and its members, to come together and discuss our experiences, goals and issues. It is my goal to bridge the gap between traditional mental healthcare and the specific needs of x-JW’s who can seldom talk about what they have suffered. For who can really understand unless you have been there? It is my goal to provide professional counseling, competent therapy and intervention strategies for those trapped in the mental and emotional prison of the Watchtower long after they left. There is a lot of work to be done in educating the educated, getting them to get involved and offer specialized empathetic assistance to folks like us. There is a niche to be filled in this specific area and I am intent on making the industry aware and lead them to help all those who need a hand. This support group is the first step in making that happen. Please join us and support our cause. Help yourself and your family, children and friends who need it. There is no membership fee. All is free and all are welcome. The first support group will be: November 20, 2004 at 1:00pm in the East County Contact me at corvinus@cox.net for the address and directions. 619-749-3155 Best Regards, Corvin |

MUCH TO DO ABOUT NOTHING I am a disfellowshiped JW and thought I would, for the fun of it include my two cents…. One Penny: A kind woman who was known for never having anything bad about anyone, was approached by a person who said, ‘I know someone you cannot say anything good about’…..After a moment, she said, then I don’t want to know, and immediately the person said, ‘Satan The Devil’……And the women thought for a moment and said……’He’s a hard worker!’ Second Penny: If the general consensus is Christians believe that all or most roads lead you to God, and JW’s do not, then ponder; Under the belief systems of general Christians, JW’s are saved! Good and Bad are found in and among all people and belief systems, Christ himself had his own bad egg, Judas Iscariot, but that does not did not make Christ wrong or bad! If Judas had written a book entitled “Proof Jesus is not the Messiah, from a man who knows”, I can tell you that none of the other apostles or those that new Jesus and believed in him, would have bought or started to re-think what they knew of Jesus, as is suggested by the people of this board. I close my comments by quoting the words of a non Christian, a Pharisee named Gamaliel, in Acts 5: 38 and 39, “And so, under the present circumstances, I say to YOU, Do no meddle with this men, but let them alone (because, if this scheme or this work is from men, it will be overthrown, but if it is from God, YOU will not be able to overthrow them) otherwise, YOU may perhaps be found fighters against God.” |
