I am starting this thread by posting lyrics for "The Unforgiven" written by Mettalica. Post your own favourite lyrics that you enjoy cranking up your iPod for - they don't have to pertain to our situation as long as they mean something to you. I was listening to this the other day and though that the words have an uncanny relevance. Let's talk about music! Enjoy. JMC New blood joins this earth And quickly he's subdued Through constant pained disgrace The young boy learns their rules With time the child draws in This whipping boy done wrong Deprived of all his thoughts The young man struggles on and on he's known A vow unto his own That never from this day His will they'll take away Chorus What I’ve felt What I’ve known Never shined through in what I’ve shown Never be Never see Won't see what might have been What I’ve felt What I’ve known Never shined through in what I’ve shown Never free Never me So I dub thee UNFORGIVEN They dedicate their lives To running all of his He tries to please THEM all This bitter man he is Throughout his life the same He's battled constantly This fight he cannot win A tired man they see no longer cares The old man then prepares To die regretfully That old man here is me Chorus You labelled me I'll label you So I dub thee UNFORGIVEN Never Free Never Me So I dub thee UNFORGIVEN You labelled me I'll label you So I dub thee UNFORGIVEN |

here is another that I like by Ron Sexsmith -it reminds me of my very good friend from grade 11 and we are still good friends today - you know who you are Knoby if you are reading this ALL IN GOOD TIME It all seems so obvious now When I look back over my life There were times that I really felt down To think it passed me by But in these hours of serious doubt Through the coal black lonely night Something told me, “it’ll work out” Something deep inside Was comforting me All in good time All in good time It said all in good time The bad times will be gone “Hold your horses”, a willow tree cried While the sun called to me, “where’s the fire?” “Run your course my feverish child,” Came a voice from even higher Inspiring me All in good time All in good time It said all in good time We rise and fall We try and fail And people may judge us But angels know us darling All in good time It all seems so obvious now When I look back over my life There’s a need for sorrow and doubt For darkness and for light It’s how it must be All in good time All in good time It said all in good time All in good time The bad time will be gone |

I don't really agree with the vindictive attitudes expressed by many of you (see my opinion here: http://www.factnet.org/cgi-bin/discus/show.cgi?tpc=3&post=443934#POST443934) and I object to the way the Diocese of Ontario is getting so much of the blame for what went on in the self-enclosed insular world of GCC, but --for what it's worth-- "Games People Play" by the Alan Parsons Project reminds me of GCC, although its intended meaning is obviously unrelated. The song is at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A_BXVhJxlJI |

Hiya Menla Now I want to keep this all about the music – cuz nothing is more important than the music. I am not 100% sure on what this thread has to do with the diocese BUT for the record GCC did not turn me against the Anglican Church IN FACT I have been a member of St Thomas’s Anglican Church here in Toronto for over 20 years and I even sang in the choir. My oldest son loves me to read him the Compline Service at night before bed. So don’t mix ME up with the church haters. By the way thanks for the Alan Parsons Project – a solid talent in front of and behind the mixing board. Nuff said – let’s ROCK ON! Back to the tuneage Cheers and thanks BD! JMC |
