Since Jeff Saturday, Hunter Smith, and Mark Thomas all attend this group and they are part of the world class football team known as the Indianapolis Colts, I wonder how Colts ownership feels about that? Fact is, I know how the Colts feels about this group(Cult). Seems to have been some reorganization within the sect although I note the sect still has photos of one of the defendants in a recently filed lawsuit in Federal Court on it's website. Guilt by association? That particular person has already been deposed and was found to have clearly offered purjured testimony under oath. I have wondered how these Colts football players, (Who may well be good, decent men) would have chosen to be affiliated with Every Nation rather than a real church?

zadieboy, these are good points. Is it possible these players (and others) who are involved with the Indy EN church are not aware of the group's leadership's history in Maranatha Campus Ministries? Or the much more recent controversies revolving around Champions for Christ (a former MCM ministry BTW, but part of MSI/EN since the newer group's formation)? Or do they buy the story that EN is "different" now, not like MCM or not even like the EN of a few years ago when Greg Ball was in charge of CFC?

This group has a history of attracting famous people and then using their names to legitimize themselves. This occurred in Maranatha days but MSI/EN and CFC have taken this to a whole 'nother level in that many of the names Maranatha dropped weren't actually members... the names that this group drops ARE usually first recruited as members.

In some respects, their more famous members are not treated like the rank and file, so it is possible that they are shielded from some of the more cultic aspects of the group. On the other, they have historically been instrumental in funding this group, so while they are treated well in relative terms they do get exposed to its more legalistic tithing/giving teachings. For just one example... EN Indy's audited financial statement shows that an awful lot of income is coming in for a church of its size.

Also, my understanding is that other Christian athletic organizations like AIA and FCA have not had very good relationships with CFC in the past due to some of CFC's more cultic, exclusivist and controversial activities. However, they seem to now be involved with CFC if you look at the links on both CFC's website as well as Nations of Coaches which appears to be a CFC-led initiative. Are THEY aware of this group, or is this more CFC namedropping? What does someone like Tony Dungy think about all this... particularly since he himself seems to be a devout and sincere Christian but not in CFC but the other Christian athletic orgs? (I think he's Baptist?) Hmm, does CFC/EN Indy think that Dungy is a "lukewarm Christian" who is not being properly discipled??????

All interesting points posted. I nearly married an EN member and was nearly involved with this cult myself. Yeah, God does protect His people! It is also very possible that the woman I nearly married has won some of the members to her way of thinking. She is a professional victim type. Also one who is easily led by power and prestige. Frankly, in hindsight she only attended the place to suck up to what she thought was the lifestyles of the rich and famous. Do understand I'm all for being rich and/or famous. Money does not however, make one "better than" anything. I picked up a copy of a Christian magazine at church this past Sunday. Tony Dungy was on the cover. I don't think he a bad guy or the other Colts players I have mentioned. Sadly, the Colts players may be misled. I did note that now former pastor Dave Jamerson is no longer at the Indianapolis Every Nation Church, (Cult) And he did come from Champions for Christ as I understood it. I'm just really grateful God protected me from that place. I like my people real, genuine, and authentic. I have been the victim of the spiritual abuse there.

Zadieboy, Jeff Saturday is involved? How'd he get sucked in? I'm wondering because he went to Carolina (my alma mater), and I don't remember him being involved in any way with MSI--not through CFC (which was pretty much nonexistent when I was at Carolina) or VCM. Especially considering EN Indy started out as a CFC chapter.

“Just as I have a position coach in football who helps me become the best I can be as a football player, I also have spiritual coaches in my life who help me become everything I'm called to be as a man of God. Without people in your life it is impossible to become great for Christ.”

--Jeff Saturday
Quote on CFC's website

This is classic "shepherding," folks, in which it is believed that Christ can only work through other people, these "spiritual coaches" who I'm assuming in this context are people like Brett Fuller and Dave Jamerson. This bypasses the HOLY SPIRIT, the Counselor Jesus Christ sent Who would be with us until the end of the age. The HOLY SPIRIT doesn't just speak through other people but also through the counsel of Scripture and in our own hearts and consciences. Without the voice of the Holy Spirit who indwells all believers, and without the entire counsel of God (the Bible in CONTEXT, not the Purple Book), then spiritual coaches aren't making disciples of Christ but disciples of THEMSELVES.

Phil Bonasso also preached a lot about this, when he was in Austria on the Europe conferences. He said, that God talks to us, but often we do not hear him, because what he says, we sometimes dont like. so we overhear him. he said that everyone has a big "blind spot" in th erelation with God, where we dont hear him, when he says things that we dont like (when it comes to change...).

therefore he placed people around us, through whom he works and speaks to us correction and leading...

i think i still got the tapes somewhere... Uly... forgive, i forgot about it... i wanted to send them to you... can you please one more time send me your postadress (to my email-addy)???

ulyankee, I spent New Year's Eve about three years ago now at Jeff Saturday's home in Indy. The "face of human evil"( former fiance, fraud) borrowed his wife, Karen Saturday's dress for the evening. Hope she had it de-bugged upon it's return. Jeff may well be a fine man. His wife, Karen appears to be a darling. Since I filed that lawsuit, former pastor Dave Jamerson has left the Indy sect. That previous posting was good stuff. I really don't want to be mean spirited in the litigation. Silly me, I want to believe the cult will just own their stuff along with the fraud who filed the two false police reports. I'm a single parent, male, with three great kids. My life was decimated as a direct result of the actions of these people. I'll survive and God will win. I just believe in justice. It's a principal worth dying for. I just want my life to count.

With God in my life anything is possible, "through CHRIST who strengthens me."

My book wasn't purple either. It was given to me by a recovering heroin addict who was an ordained Babtist minister in a maximum security prison over twenty years ago. It was a Dake's reference bible. It came with a Holy Spirit and lots of love. Touchdown for God! I play on the right team now! Funny God said I was good enough. Imagine that, me, little ole me, good enough for the King. Way cool hugh?
