Per Jim's little split here I will enter a somewhat reflective take on this. I understand where Jim is coming from and even can relate I however believe it is just plain wrong to somewhat put forth the idea that we love in some different way or less way or whatever and that is what Gods love is in regards to sinners and those who are not believers: I will quote Manning on this who is a loved and sometimes disliked Christian writer. Fundies to dislike, souls like myself to love. But here is the quote which I will state clearly I not only agree with, I think it is right on target. "Something is radically wrong when the local church rejects a person accepted by Jesus: when a harsh, judgmental and unforgiving sentence is passed on homosexuals; when a divorcee is denied communion; when the child of a prostitute is refused baptism; when an unlaicized priest is forbidden the sacraments." I will tell you we can find some bible verses to line up with God hates... God hates homosexuality.... God hates divorce.... God ceertainly does not love when a man teaches falsely or is unfaithful to his calling. GOD LOVES ALL, and we are commanded to love all, and be light to all men and to love our neighbors as thyselves, and God so love the world (cosmos, all) that SO! I can stack relevant scripture after scripture after scripture on this one. Hadasa cannot fathom loving in real terms a homsexual. It is obvious..... I don't think Jim is making an argument about loving others. I hope I am right on this at least. A Pastor I know who use to work on the block told me a story about how CHS talked of those who worked on the block as "WHORES!" CHS defended his thoughts as "those whores" as just that. We are to speak truth in love. Nothing is scripture shows jesus trying to beat a man into submission to faith. From Canna, The Woman at the well, the thief at the cross, Mary after the Ressurection, To Thomas etc he is always in puruit of those who are losy sinners and even those of litttle faith. Even Jesus mad at the money changers shows the love of God in action. Ironically where is Jesus in his moment of anger? I love the character of Thomas. I get it. I get him. I see Mary, and I see John after he is faced with his denials of his friend, his master. This is our Lord not something we are often capable of being like by throwing up on how gays are this, prosttitutes are this, and even falled men like CHS are that. I don't know your pain, but my Lord does, and as you suffer and your children suffer, and as the heart ache, Jesus is there. Maybe that is to sweet for the likes of most fundies but it is scripture, it is Christ, It is how our Lord is. I don't want to be seen as judgmental here, but I get mad at those who cross the line. That includes when I do. I hate what happened to my family via our involvment in a church. But I do not hate any man. When I sould like I do, it makes me ill. |
