The Origins of pentecostal Tongues
or
What pentecostalism does not want you to know?
In 1901 in Topeka, Kansas, Charles Fox Parham told the little boys in his Bible school he would not allow them to go home for Christmas until they found ‘tongues’. Days later, Mr. Parham abruptly left Kansas for places unknown. Nearly four years later, Mr. Parham resurfaced in Texas. Mr. Parham opened another Bible school for little boys. He hired William Seymour, a one-eyed black man as janitor.
Among his many attributes, Parham was a racist. Parham would not permit Seymour to enter the classroom. William Seymour spent his spare time in the hallway listening to Parham teach his little boys.
At the time of the Great Earthquake of 1906, Mr. Seymour journeyed to California to visit his girlfriend. Mr. Seymour visited his girlfriend’s Baptist church. Seymour insisted he had word from God for the church and they permitted him to speak from the pulpit. The congregation, first, then the pastor recognized Seymour’s heresies. They asked Mr. Seymour to leave the church. His girlfriend became upset. It was the girlfriend who insisted Seymour start his own church.
I must take a moment here and remind you of the conditions in 1906. The overwhelming majority of the United States population was illiterate. If you do the research, you will find twelve percent of GI’s held high school diplomas at the end of WWII. Women did not have the right to vote. Prostitution was legal throughout the United States. The news media was limited to many really small newspapers. Radio and television did not exist. Photography was in its infancy. News traveled primarily by word of mouth.
(If you have never played “Pass the word” try it in Sunday school sometime. Write a simple sentence on a piece of paper. Give that paper to one person, have him/her read the sentence quickly. Then take the paper back. Then have the sentence passed around the room silently to see what comes back. My favorite game is to pass out post-it notepads. Then ask the congregation to write their favorite verse of scripture or favorite Ten Commandment. No name please! Then post the notes in a hallway for everyone to see.)
William Seymour’s girlfriend rented the stable that would become Azusa Street Mission for him. Due to the fear caused by the earthquake, Seymour saw a rapid increase in the number of people coming to church. Most were there to hear the news from San Francisco. Seymour, having listened to Parham, thought he was seeing the latter-day rains. Parham was summoned to California. |

On his way west, Mr. Parham wrote his tract explaining God had judged California and would be breaking it off, throwing it into the ocean. That tract was handwritten and filled with spelling errors. Not that it mattered, few people in California could read it anyway. Mr. Parham played the classical “Pass the word” game. Upon arrival in California, Parham took the pulpit away from Seymour.
On about the third day of the revival, Mr. Seymour barred Mr. Parham from the pulpit for sodomy with little boys. Many credit Mr. Parham with giving pentecostalism with its two distinctives, scandal and division. Let us look briefly at pentecostalism distinctives. First, scandal, during its first one hundred years, thirteen hundred of pentecostalism’s most elite ministers have been adjudicated guilty of gross immortally by a jury of their peers. Those convictions do not include:
Aimee Semple MacPherson, (sorry another sidebar: names, spellings and dates vary from source to source within pentecostalism. If you have a different spelling, please post it). Aimee was married five times and divorce four times.
Kathryn Kulhman, they charged Ms. Kulhman with filing a false police report. Ms. Kulhman reported a false kidnaping after returning from Mexico allegedly having had an abortion. However, they dropped the charges after her death from an overdose of illegal drugs. You may recall Benny Hinn takes his anointing from Kathryn Kulhman’s grave.
Peter Popoff, as you might remember Mr. Popoff received a word from God via Motorola on national television during one of his ‘healing’ concerts.
I leave the list short intentionally. You may add many other names and details.
Division: The Reader’s Digest reported in 1997 that there are twelve hundred different flavors of pentecostalism. Parham’s white pentecostalism (Assembly of God) is arguably the largest. Seymour’s Church of God in Christ is the largest black group.
We shall move on to the vision now. |

In his September 1906 Apostolic Faith newspaper, Mr. Parham gave his vision and one of pentecostalism’s innermost secrets. Mr. Parham freely acknowledged that pentecostalism’s altar was awash in the occult! Allow me to post Mr. Parham’s vision in three parts to simplify understanding.
1. God would use Parham to restore biblical (known languages) tongues;
2. For the express purpose of expediting the transition time from altar call to the mission field;
3. Therewith ushering in the latter-day rains.
Allow em to examine the vision in reverse order. “Therewith ushering in the latter-day rains.” No one has ever been able to find the latter-day rain doctrine of pentecostalism in the Bible. The only real growth in the pentecostal church has been in those areas with a rich history in the occult. Part 3 of the vision is a total failure.
“For the express purpose of expediting the transition time from altar call to the mission field.” Here, who could possible object? Do you realize it takes from ten to thirty years to learn the language and customs of a region before one can enter the mission field? Then after arriving in their chosen area, the missionary must start over and learn the local dialect and peculiar customs. Unfortunately, today one hundred years later, it still takes ten to thirty years to get a missionary in the field. Part 2 is a total failure.
“Restore biblical tongues.” Biblical tongues are known languages. Biblical tongues is a reversing of the Tower of Babel. But wait, there is another problem. Biblical tongues were a sign gift for unbelieving jews. Should you desire the truth, all five times tongues are mentioned in the Bible, there were unbelieving jews present. Biblical tongues ceased when God ceased to deal with the jew in 70 A.D. with the destruction of Israel. God will again deal with the jew during the one thousand year reign according to the Book of Revelation. The pentecostal church freely admits its tongues are unknown languages and not biblical tongues. Part 1 is a total failure.
But wait! While it is true that pentecostalism was not able to consummate the vision of the homosexual Parham, it did invent their own form of tongues. Being enthralled by the clanging of the cash register bell, pentecostalism was willing to invent faked infantile gibberish. Never heard the clanging of cash register bells? Are you willing to compare two televangelist?
Jerry Falwell struggles to take in the $500,000 a year he needs to send some fifteen hundred children to Christian school (pre-k through college level).
Joyce Meyers boastfully acknowledges taking in one hundred million a year! Go figure. |

I love you, brother, but the information is true. tatm is actually giving information from reputable sources; tatm also left some sources out, which only proves the validity of the statements.
Parham called Seymour's meeting's a "darky camp meeting". He was a known racist, and written documents lead to him being in the KKK.
While Parham was never convicted of sodomy, he was acuused by at least two young men. |

tatm... not so what you wrote about amiee semple mcphearson.. she was married to a minister named semple who died, she then married mcphearson, devoriced him then later married another man which ended in devorice in a few sort time. dot lie look up the facts and quit picking on pentecostal try picking on some one else for a change and let them tell you off as you have already been proved wrong and that you lie lie lie.. by the pentecostals and THE WORD OF GOD THE BIBLE which you dont believe you want tell what kind of "church" you attend or even what you supposedly believe. so shut up or put up. i have heard you till i am about to throw up |

not tatm.... you are the one who is always harping on pentecost and its belief. who in the pentecostal churches has ever done anything to you and why want you say what you are a member of, is it an athesist org? you have some really bad hangups that you need deliverance from and a good many demons too |

Thank you for your concern. God commanded I take up an apologetics ministry ministering to those caught up in the pseudo-christian cult of pentecostalism. Perhaps your time would be better spent telling God what to think and do. |
