Two students of the Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic suspected tobe cultists belonging to the Mafia confraternity were recently arrested by the police in the state. The trio of Emmanuel Edem Okon, Joshua Edet Eyo and Kenneth (at large) on June 23,2004 decided to hold another female student hostage. Her sin was that she had refused the love advances of one of the trio, thus she had to be subjected to torture. However, as she was being held, help came through the president of the Zion Students Fellowship on that campus who begged them to release their victim. Unfortunately for the Good Samaritan, their fury was turned on him as he was beaten up for daring to interfere in a ‘private matter’. The poor guy was asked to bail himself with a carton of beer and N360 for cigarettes, a demand to which he complied. He was also made to sign an undertaking to pay a ransom of 4,000 naira or face possible assassination. To prove their seriousness, they bought a razor and demonstrated how they were going to use it on him. For fear of dear life, the young man reported the case to Peace on Campus Initiative (PCI), a non-governmental organisation campaigning against cultism on campuses. PCI operatives alerted the school security that in turn invited the police. The police succeeded in arresting two of the suspected cultists, while the third known as Kenneth is presently at large. A police search in their apartments led to the discovery of empty shells of 16 cartridges, machetes, cudgels, two black masks and other items. In a swift reaction to the incident, the management of the school met and summarily expelled the students who previously belonged to the Department of Business Administration. The rector of the school, Mr. Otuekong Eddie Etim warned other cultists to quietly leave the campus, as the polytechnic is not a viable ground for them to operate because of the presence of PCI and other security agencies. He warned that the full wrath of the law would come on any student found engaging in cult activities. It will be recalled that Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly had earlier this year passed an anti-cult law. Observers are eager to see how far the law will be put into use as to serve as deterrent to other students. | ||

My bothers it touches my hart to send this message across u all that are cult members. I tried to search the history of in Nigeria and how it starts. Ahoy killer. All this name doesn’t sound good. From the same group of another set of hoodllums jumped out and said they are buccaneer and that they are have the same objective with the Pirate. The question is do they have the same objective and the Buccaneers broke out? This, I call the genesis of enmity between Nigeria school confraternity. Pirate confraternity will never be happy with their members that split out and so the so called Buccaneers won’t be happy with them. The Buccaneer ,said it no prise no pay .What are you prising and what are you paying for? that motto ,motivates violence ,one of their exco name is [kms] which means killer and maker of soul ,is he God? All this are call for violence .The buccaneer sign which is skull and two cross bones and two daggers that is dripping blood means what? The answer is Violence. In 1974 another group of bandicts pumped out from the eastern part of Nigeria known as the supreme Vikings confraternity ,after the Nigeria civil war. On a motive to revote against any other military war in the country ,like they claim. Turns out to be deadly and very violence .That they claim to stand against the military, tells that it was built to be a warship. They have their motto blood for blood ,is a call for chaos . Early 70s another group of tribalist came out from the west known as the eyie ,the claim to be sport loving men in school but, it`s a tribal Confraternity built to intimidate the none Yoruba students in school and for the westerns not to loose the student union political post. I disagree, they are not ,it was formed by some group of nonchalant students who felt that they can’t stand intimidation from other cult members ,eg Pirate ,Buccaneers and Mafia. The politicians have taking cult to the peak, the police have made it a business zone, where they trade their guns and bullet ,The founders have over look their cankerworm ,the government don’t think is a problem. The Government should be care over this issues ,because the future of Nigeria is in jeopardy . The founders of these cults are still alive and that they are alive is the only chance Nigerian`s still have to stop or control it.
