My dear friends: I doubt if I will be posting for the next few days as we are leaving on a long trip to further north for mission work in the morning. I pray God's blessings on all and ask your prayers for our protection. We are traveling in a volkswagon van and our volkswagon car. There are 17 or so going with us...We will be in the far interior..sleeping in hammocks! I am sorry that Prax keeps calling me names...I repeat in the fear of "God I have told no lies... Blessings to all. Sister Alvear |

Mrs. Alvear, if you feel that you are 'called names' improperly there are definite positive steps you can take that would move my words towards non-adversarial. The first step is simple: 1) Stop telling people in English and Portuguese that HH has a 'death covenant' or a 'pacto de muerte'. Fully forsake this false accusation in both languages, English and Portuguese, in discussions public and private, with everybody, in the church or secular. ============================= Additional corollary steps would be: a) Make it clear to the people who may have picked this up from you that you were mistaken. My sense is that this would include many in the Brazilian churches. Share with any with whom you earlier spoke this accusation that you have stopped using the phrase because it is not an accurate representation of the HH beliefs and covenant. And if you put the phrase in a Portuguese email or newsletter, the same email or newsletter should have the retraction and explanation. b) Fully forsake the reasons you have given for speaking in this way in the past. Such as saying that this is the language you use the same as a 'till-death-till-you-part marriage covenant.' Or that you were using the phrase because you it is what you heard in HH. Simply tell us here that you are no longer giving those as reasons for the phrase. Of course, if you fully stop using the phrase these types of reasons are no longer being used either. ================================= Now, this would be a real start. You would be defacto acknowledging that you erred earlier, it is hard to avoid that, however that should not be difficult for a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ. Even if it is a struggle for you to do (a) and (b) and even if you do not think you could possibly give the proper apology to the forum and HH, the very least you should do is (1) above. And such a step would bring forth peaceable fruits. Those are the steps that would make a major change in tone and dialog and respect. Shalom, Praxaluh |
