People new to the Community are often baffled by the curious language used. To assist, I offer this CommunitySpeak-to-English dictionary. inordinate curiosity: the dangerous state of wakefulness wherein the bullshit appears as…bullshit and the veil of darkness woven by the Community starts to lift. high: as in “You’re high”. Signals any of several states that departs from the gloomy dread favored by the Community leadership. obedience: servile, mindless, spirit-numbing action (usually without any purpose) directed by one higher up the Community’s spiritual ladder. in the Spirit: agreement with the Community’s leaders them: all those who are not under the sway of the Community’s leadership. Used as in “us” v. “them”. salvation: the lowest rung on the spiritual ladder of the Community. Can be granted only by Community leaders and can be revoked at will. mercy: this term does not exist in Community-speak. anger: this term has two variants. “Righteous anger” is anger that someone higher up the spiritual ladder feels, for whatever reason. Conversely, “unrighteous anger” is anger felt by someone lower on the spiritual rungs. honesty: bloodlust (see also “cruelty”) discernment: ability to see sin in others sin: any action not prescribed by one of the Community authorities. rebellion: failure to equate obedience to self-serving tyrants with submission to God jealousy: realization that neither merit, worth, nor spiritual maturity have anything to do with the ordering of the Community power structure haughtiness: the belief that between a human and a worm, the human wins out approval: the temporary cessation of active criticism idolatry: any instinct of warmth, kindness, or generosity not directed at one’s immediate Community superiors |

"HALARIOUS"---- Love the humour but very eye opening and so true at the same time! You GCC'ers and CofJer's reading this take the time and REALLY read it and see how TRUE IT IS!!!! You might want to print it and post it on your fridges for future reference! Possibly you could pick one of the words as your "word of the day". |

Hal: Great words and interpretations :-) Keep it going as some of these words are really foreign to most of the known world and the humour that you express really brings freedom from some of those words which were used in admonishment and often still "strike" terror in the pit of your stomach. Has anyone ever used (God forbid) the word "idolatry" and had a friend respond with "what is that, another language"? Yes, "CULT" language. Best Wishes go Your Way. UTBT |

surrender: the point at which the intellect abandons the attempt to make sense out of nonsense; emotional exhaustion discipline: abuse costumed as love sacrifice: a transaction in which goods are assigned to the leader in return for a temporary respite from abuse |

Hey Hal, What happened to "low" (opposite of high) and "needy"? Definition needs to include why these are GOOD things and attributes/attitudes to attain. I also think that a short definition of "the blood washing of Jesus" should be included as the cure all prayer before, after and especially during Light Groups. Prayer Vigil and Night Watchmen might be useful to define as well.

low: a transfer of disdain and disgust from the leader to the follower needy: rejection of what God says about the Believer in preference to what the leader says (see "low") |
