I used to be a member of the Church of God of Prophecy as a child. I am 33 now, my mother forced me to go to this church. When I was a child (7-teen yrs) They had similar rules to the UPC in some aspects (no going to the movies, no baseball games, no listening & dancing to secular music, no makeup on women and no cut off sleeve tops or shorts. I am a 33 yr old woman now single, I attended this church until I couldnt take it anymore. I participated in everything they wanted me to ex ( The choir etc) when I decided not to do it anymore certain members there turn their back on me and it hurt and tried to seek solace and friendship there and could not find it. Can you believe that Ive never dated anyone in my whole life till now? Well I havent I wasnt allowed to date in my late teens because of my mother. I cant even figure out how to have a dating relationship with a man because of it. At one time when I was a kid THE COGOP you couldnt go dancing. I couldnt go to my high school prom or wear my high school ring I felt like an outcast. THey also did not believe in wedding rings being worn and if you are not a member of their church you were not really born again or saved? Sounds familiar doesnt it? I have since left that church when I reached my 20's but my mother still wanted to control what church I could go to. I told her I was an adult and I should be able to decide what church would fulfill me! She replied are you doing what God wants you to do? I have sinced moved out of my mothers home and I attend a methodist church. THe church of God of prophecy has stopped some of their non biblical doctrines, (Like makeup etc) but there are still some members who think that if you are not a member there youre not saved

Woops forgot about your question. Yes they consider the church of god of prophecy to be the bride of christ, and that you need to be a member there to partake in it. If that makes any sense.

One last thing I wanted to say about the Church of God of Prophecy (the one I atteded in NY). They make you go to morning service, and you eat there and you have to stay there all day until evening service. If you didnt stay all day (sunday) people would look at you funny as if you did something wrong. I had to put up with this for many years. THey also taught that you are not really saved until you speak in tongues (again they have recently changed this rule they dont preach this now) but growing up it scared me.

I am still the same person as posted above I am giving the nickname Sailor Mars. I also wanted to talk about the church of God of prophecy as the bride. The bride is symbolic to represent God's Church or Jesus's church. They refer to the bridal gown being unblemished, as are sinners who asked for their sins to be forgiven. Jesus will return for his bride (the church) thats what it means.

They are lost and need to be prayed for. Christ gave us a new covenant and yet they seem to reject it and go back to the works of the Old Testament. Might as well be Judaists. They have added to John 3:16 and are blind to the gospel of Jesus Christ.

I DO NOT SAY THEY ARE NOT SAVED FOR I BELEIVE THEY ARE BUT THEY ARE OFF IN THE DOCTRINE THAT CONCERNS THE BRIDE OF JESUS I AM IN THE BRIDE AND I KNOW THAT I AM SAVED,, IT TAKES MORE THAN BEING A CHURCH MEMBER TO BE SAVED AND IN THE BRIDE

I used to write evangelistic papers that I used to post on bulletin boards in supermarkets and restaraunts. All it was was the simple plan of salvation and a prayer at the end (The sinners prayer) I didn't use my name on it as the author because I did not feel it was important, and that it would distract people from what they needed to be concentrating on when they read it (Jesus). So at the very end I signed it "The Anonymous Evangelist"
I copied these things on a photocopier and every week or so I would go back to the same restaruants and stores and put new ones up.
I went back to a local supermarket to put up new papers, and there was a paper on the bulletin board with the heading in HUGE letters :
"To The Anonymous Evangelist: How dare you tell people they can be saved by just repeating some prayer! THAT IS UNSCRIPTURAL!! WE CHALLENGE YOU TO COME TO OUR CHURCH (COGOP-of course!) TO BE TAUGHT THE TRUTH!! I read on, and it made more cutting remarks about me, and urged people to not read or pay any attention to my papers (Like I was giving away copies of Mein Kampf or something)
So, they struck me as VERY judgemental, and if you are not part of their little group , you are going straight to hell, etc. They sure "won me over" with their charming display of Agape love !

I am a member of COGOP and have been there for almost 20 years. I can tell you with honest and open heart that I am totally aware of mistakes our church has made, and there have been some big ones, but we are all human, and we are all Christians seeking God, and we are actually putting things right. Its not easy and a lot of people are still 'stuck in the mud' over these old things, but we are learning from our mistakes. It takes time, love, prayer, and Gods intervention. He is working greatly in our church and all we can do is cling to Him for guidance.

I know this is an old post and some may not read this reply to the things said about the COGOP, but I would like to clear a few things up if possible. I am a member and pastor in the COGOP. I grew up attending this church. I have to say, some of the things written here are left over ideas and opinions from another era. Our church has made great strides over the last 20 years to see ourselves in the light of scripture and recognize our failures. In 1984, our leadership called for churchwide repentence for the harsh attitudes some had shown. We made a commitment to seek areas in what we believe that were or are out of line with God's grace, love, and truth. This commitment even brought a major split with many who were determined to hold on to old ideas. One of the issues that was dealt with was the belief in some type of exclusiveness or superiority of the COGOP. The main body of believers in this present day COGOP truly know we are only a part of God's Church. We do not claim to be "the Bride of Christ" but recognize we are only a "part" (individual members) of the Bride that Christ will present to himself without spot or wrinkle. I might also say, this is His doing, God places each of us in the Body as it pleases Him. If you happen to run into someone who personally believes or preaches that you must be a member of this church or any other denomination, you should steer clear. While they may be sincere, their error in belief is kin to the Judism that tried to invade the New Testament church.

I can also say, our denomination is working hard to live down some of our hard-nosed judgmental attitudes that truly hurt and alienated many precious people in the past. In our local church we have made a real effort to teach tolerance and acceptance. We know we can't save anyone, only God can do that. If someone is worthy of God's forgiveness and blessing, then who am I to refuse my fellowship, love, and care.

Please note, the COGOP and COG are not making an effort to merge into a single denomination again. We have asked each others forgiveness for past differences and rivalries, knowing we are brothers in Christ. In our community, my church (COGOP) and a COG located about 1 mile away, have a joint prayer service every Monday night. One month we meet in our building and the next at their's. We sometimes have joint revivals and often share and resources. Just another step in the right direction.

Finally, to the young lady who was obviously hurt by the local church she attended, I offer my sincere apology. Church should be a safe-haven that leaves comforting memories of people who truly love you through anything. I will pray for your healing.

{dear boguesound,

I was very hurt at a Church of God of Prophecy, by a pastor who is no longer with them and his daughter. she would castigate me for things when i was a young Christian and coming out of a worldly life willingly and miraculously. she was very mean, would do things like get around all of the rules. she would use vaseoline on her eyelashes instead of the forbiddne masscarra, she wore high heels in bright red and patterened stockings but would critisize anyone in pants.

this pastor embezzedled 10's of thousands of dollars, would not pay it back and was eventually disfellowshipped. he was doing something wrong and i didn't understand what God was doing then, i worked at the day care in my very early twenties and when he hired his daughters best friend and roomate to be the new director things got shady. she allowed him to 'borrow' hundreds of dollars and he would not pay it back to the day care when i complained and inquired discreetly i was 'let go' in one week when i was out on a monday with the flu.

i came from a wealthy background and was involved in the secular music scene with some of the most famous musicians in the world, so working at the day care was a loving and Christian thing to do at the time and I enjoyed giving my life over to God. i was very hurt also when we all found out that he had an affair with a woman he was counseling as well as the financial indiscretion.

more things happened but i don't want to make this too long. if you are truly a man serving the Lord in love, please pray for me to be healed and to have confidence to trust a pastor not as a lord over my soul but as a teacher and a source of godly love and encouragement.

thank you.

Dear Peace_that_passes,
It hard to learn to trust anyone whether it be a church or a minister or his family. I was a minister daugther but I have seen the hurt the church in general can do from both a minister family side and a congregational side. I will pray for you that you will find a Godly teacher and solid place to worship. I just got out of a bad situation myself concerning a church. Just continue to read your bible and pray and seek God's wisdom. He will lead you where you should go.

I am glad to know you are looking for a new church. I hope you find one you will grow as a christian in. I like some of the tv preachers. But I think it is good when you can find a group of people you can worship with. I hope you find that special church that is just right for you. May God bless as you search.

Dear peace_that_passes,

You related a great reality in your post in the simple fact that you stated the Pastor who you spoke of is no longer with the church. God watches out for His own. His timing may not be as we would like it, but He always has the last word.

I do see your hurt and I will continue to pray for complete healing. One thing to remember is that Scripture teaches that God has a place for each of us in His Body. 1 Corinthians 12:18, states, "But now God has set the members, each one of them, in the body just as He pleased."
The purpose of this is also made clear in Ephesians 4:16 which says, "from whom the whole body, joined and knit together by what every joint supplies, according to the effective working by which every part does its share, causes growth of the body for the edifying of itself in love."
In other words, Each of us has something to give - a God given gift. In our quest to find a church, the question is not -- "what can You do for me?"--
The true question is, -- "God where do you want Me so that I may be able to use the gifts you have given me to help strengthen the body?"

It is important to ask God to show you where you are to be. As you ask, God will begin a process of leading you to the place where you are to serve. You may suddenly feel a strong urge to visit a church you've seen or passed by. When you are obedient to God, he will provide a sheperd and church family to care for your needs.

One thing you do need to be aware of: If you have an issue with "trust," God will place you in circumstances where you will need to "trust." Because God always has your best interest at heart, He will work in you to deal with harmful issues and attitudes in our life. He wants us whole and He wants us to love and be accepting of love.

I will pray for God's leading and that He will place trustworthy people in your path.

Dear Boguesound,
You said you were a minister in the COGOP. I have a question for you. First let me let you know I come from a Baptist background but became pencostal. I know there are alot of different pencostal churches and some are stricter then others in some areas. Actually my question has nothing to do with doctrine. Have you ever heard of a group called United Christian Church and ministrial association _ Richard Hall (UCC) Claims to be pencostal but I wondering if they are in fact even a Christian organization. If you have some information I will give my email address to you just let me know. The information would be most helpful to me. I almost got tangle up with this group but by the Grace of God and the fact I knew my bible and constantly prayed while I was there my husband and I got out. But let me make it clear the minister whose church I was in was only license through them. So I realize the whole group might not be like him.

billiefan 2000'
Most ministers in the COGOP believe in a pre-millennial rapture of the church. As in all denominational groups, views can differ from person to person and local church to church.
As for Communion, our church has never set a determined time or occurrence for this sacrament. It is usually left to the discretion of the local churches.

“I remember when we launched our first major campaign of Laocidea, around the turn of the twentieth century. Dibbah, my general of propaganda, laid out a masterful plan, with my help of course, to tear down the nations and to destroy the hearts of people through a systematic destruction in the home and in the churches, with a primary focus on the preachers. Quietly and methodically, we slipped into the inner circles of his churches, into the great denominations, and got close to the greatest preachers and theologians.

“We crept in unaware, for the shepherds of the flocks were asleep in their pulpits. We brought with us damnable heresies and applied them quietly and gently. Many Christian preachers, faced with dwindling numbers and a changing social climate, embraced our plan and radically transformed their churches into dens of heresy and iniquity. From the pulpit, my doctrines of demons trickled down to those in the pews. The mindless, undiscerning Christians embraced this neo-truth with vigor. Those believers that held close to the literal interpretation of his Bible and operated in the role of the noble-minded Berean, rejected it, causing more strife and division in an already beleaguered church.

“Consider this simple example: Early in the twenty-first century, the Presbyterian USA church brought to a vote whether there were other paths to salvation beyond the Christ. Wonderful! In another example, a Methodist church allowed my most honorable Reverend Sun Myung Moon to speak in its pulpit. The Methodist preacher praised Reverend Moon as being used greatly by God. Here, let me give you a quote from that minister: ‘What impresses me so much about Rev. Moon is that he’s truly on the battlefield for our Lord. He’s truly a gift from God to bring people together.’* I find this particularly appealing, considering that Moon considers himself to be the chosen one to finish the work of the Messiah.”

My thoughts wafted through several portions of Scripture that pointed to those very activities: to the lukewarm attitude of the church; the rise of heresy and apostasy within the church; the doctrines of demons that would permeate the earth; and the rise of those having the spirit of antichrist, laying claim to being the Messiah.

“We had such wonderful success that the encroachment of my kingdom across the boundaries of his forced him to intervene again, with the Rapture. He rescued his walking wounded from the field of disobedience, rebellion and apostasy.”

“A victory for the Lord,” I stated.

“You undoubtedly believe that. However, he was not the victor, I was,” Lucifer replied. “I had him on the ropes. He had to snatch his people away before I swallowed them whole.”

I didn’t respond. The delusion of the dark one runs deep.

“So many are in hell right now because they were not challenged by their preachers…or, should I say, my preachers. Those weak-kneed, liberal preachers succumbed to the will of the people, and turned out sermon after sermon of a social gospel. They turned their backs on the cardinal tenants of the Christian faith. They defiled their office by turning their backs on the primary duties. Instead of preachers and shepherds, they became hirelings, paid by me. I loved them all.”

No word then on cult like behavior. I was under a minister for a short time under this denomination. But I do know they license anyone that wants a ministers license.

Please Lodelia,

If you really are from the Lord then you don't always have to LOUDLY OVERWHELMINGLY announce yourself. It makes people suspicious and it seems mentally over the edge of something.

I am not saying that God doesn't tell people to say who they are or why they are approaching you. I don't religious attitudes either and Jesus was hated by such people.

WHY, are you posting everywhere and using your name? If you have a prophecy, just give it and stop screaming.

Yes, the anointing does come from God and it comes on everyone who loves Him is born again and is going after their own calling.

How would you like it if I posted everywhere,

"HELLO MY NAME IS JOJO CARTUCHE AND I AM AN ANOINTED BUSINESS OWNER.

BUSINESS OWNERS ARE FROM GOD, WOMEN IN BUSINESS ARE GOD ORDAINED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

SEE PROVERBS, ALL OF PROVERBS."

If you have a prophecy remember the Bible has guidelines. Peaceable, easily entreated. You are sounding like a clanging symbol. If you are legitmate would you tone it down and be more realistic.

Thanks.

Also if you are going to represent the Lord, don't you think that you should proof read what you are saying He is saying?

Office of the Prophet is a big deal, if you are not one then you should not be claiming it as a title and if you are one then you should not be posting unprofessional and hard to digest formats.

Jesus is Lord!

I was "surfing" the net (as the kids say) and happen upon this site. I am a former minister in the cogop. I was not shocked or amazed by any of this. People have been hurt by those hypocrites who with their mouth profess to be a Christian but in their works they deny Him. Nor was I surprized by the one who claimed to be a pastor in the organization who when caught up in their sins quickly compromised and sucked up to everyone. The cogop is just another denomination among many that are willing to compromise Bible truth and doctrine for the sake of numbers. I was there when they decided to overthrow and make havoc out of God's Church. No amount of butter will cover the taste of their evil deeds. I have many friends still in cogop, I pray for them daily. They have became so indoctrinated that it amounts to a type of brainwashing. When their overseer told me what I was allowed and not allowed to preach, I said, "God called me to preach His Word in it's entirity, and not what you tell me I can." I pray that all the children of God would unite together in one, Christ prayed for this in John 17, but it cannot be done by picking what part of the Bible is still ok, and what part is too strong for the modern world to bear. We are obligated to God to take His whole word and practice it's teachings. For those that has been injured, I am too praying for you. One of the most vital aspects of Christianity is that it is a choice, it cannot be forced. We were made as free-moral agents. It is our choice. The choices we make in this short life, will ultimately determin where we will spend eternity. If you have been hurt by one that professed to be a minister, hold him accountable and not God nor the organization where he is. The cogop still has many local churches that remain committed to preaching the whole word of God uncompromised. We are to build and not destroy. But yet we must reprove the hidden works of darkness. If I may be of a blessing to any please let me know. Remember Jesus loves you and so do I.

Rev M. Slusher:

May I ask a couple simple questions?

Quoting: "We were made as free-moral agents."
End quote.

What exactly does that mean?

Quoting: "Remember Jesus loves you and so do I."
End quote.

When Jesus sent the disciples out two by two, he forbided them from going among the Gentiles. IF, Jesus loves the gentiles, why did he deny them the gospel?

Dearest atam, Jesus is the ultimate in love. No greater love hath a man than to lay his life down for his friends. Jesus loved us so much that He willingly went to the cross to die in our place. He done no wrong, but He took our place to pay for sins we committed. The Lamb of God sacraficed for the remission of sins. While we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. The gift of salvation made available for whosoever will call upon the name of Jesus shall be saved. Free moral agent means God equipt us with the faculties to choose to do evil or do righteousness. We are unique in that we as a living soul can choose to serve Him or choose not to. The choices we make in the flesh will determin where the eternal soul of man within will abide throughout eternity. Heaven or Hell is waiting just beyond this life, which will you find waiting for you? Choose ye this day whom you will serve. Now about the gentiles. Jesus came to fulfill all prophecy concerning Him. According to prophecy He first had to come to the lost sheep of Israel. He came into His own, and His own received Him not. Israel had to first reject Him as the Christ before the early Church would turn to the Gentiles. Again in fulfilment to prophecy. The reason that prophecy comes to pass is that God can see the future, and He simply has told His prophets what will happen, not might happen. God cannot lie. He will do as He said, and you can take that to the bank. When He came to the Jews they having the Law should have known who He was. Thus why Jesus said, search the scriptures for in them ye think ye have eternal life and they are which that testafieth of me. The gentiles were without the law. Israel was praying for the Messiah, and when He came they rejected Him, because they wanted to rage a war against the pagans that took their land. They wanted a warrior Messiah, not the peaceful Jesus. God knowing that Israel would reject the Christ would have to turn to another people that would accept Him and the gift of salvation. This is a very detailed subject. I have only scratched the surface. You and any one else may feel free to Email me directly at tcogatptown@netzero.net. If you don't know Christ as your personal savior, what are you waiting for? The love of God causes us to love everyone. So yes Jesus does love you, and because of that love within my heart, it causes me to love everyone. Jesus loves you and so do I!!!!

Dearest Arron, You are in our prayers. Isn't something how a group can have the same beliefs, but yet attend different churches? Imagin what it would be like if we all that believe the word of God as written came together as one. Jesus prayed for this in John 17. Rather we are united here, or over there our prayer is that we all be able to make it to heaven. He that endures to the end the same shall be saved. God bless you.

End quote.

Are you suggesting that all twelve hundred flavors of pentecostalism have the same belief? Mr. Arron, by the by, is a twisted little man. In another thread, he blamed his dead wife for his belief system. On another occasion, he blame hospitalization for his condition.

Here is the "Origins of pentecostal Tongues" (http://www.factnet.org/discus/messages/3/30639.html?1178977124 ).

Your religion's Bible ( http://www.factnet.org/discus/messages/3/31402.html?1179690135 ).

The origins of jesusnameonly . . . UPCI . . . Oneness pentecostalism ( http://www.factnet.org/discus/messages/3/31351.html?1179775206 ).

May I introduce myself briefly? I was called to the ministry at the age of fifteen. I have been around the world seven times and to more than one hundred countries (as well as all fifty states). I have helped built hospitals and orphanages all over the world. I retired from a successful prison ministry several years ago. God commanded I take up an apologetics ministry mintering to those caught up in the pseudo-christian cult of pentecostalism. I take that command seriously. In so doing, I have spend more hours in pentecostal churches than you or Mr. Arron.

Your religion or flavor of pentecostalism is the most racist church around. Fortunately, I give your religion some credance, due to their expulsion of the child molestor Charles Fox Parham. Unfortunately, your religion looses ground on its racist nature and manmade doctrine.

Due to space considerations, I will respond to your post above later.

In response to the t a t m above, I don't know who you think we are. I don't know what you are talking about. But remember when you point a finger at someone you have 3 pointing back at you. It seems like for all the good you do, your habit of patting yourself on the back seems to be a source of great joy. The Church of God is made up of people from every race, nation, economic situation, gender, ect. It has never been the practice of the Church to discriminate against anyone. We are to be all ONE in Christ. You sir have us confused with someone else. Next to assume all Pentecostal churches are the same is like assuming apples and oranges are the same. There is a saying that goes, "Any fool can condemn, judge, and slander, and most fools do." Before you start condemning and slandering you better fall to your knees. It is not the practice of any God-fearing person to lash out and condemn. Judge not lest ye be judged. The world of sin is already condemned, thus why Christ did not come to condemn the world, but that through Him the world might be saved. I will pray for you, whatever is going on in your life that would cause you to lash out and to falsely accuse someone you don't know, and understand not, please turn it over to God. He'll take that good you do and chanel it in the right direction. We are not saved by our works. It is not a matter of what you have done in the past, but what you keep doing till our end comes. We must be found faithful unto the end.
And to Arron I need not to ask such a thing, in the end all that matters if you too are found faithful till the end. I could care less if it's true or not. You are a precious soul, that is all that matters. The fellow above, just had his tongue wrapped around his eye teeth and could not see what he was saying.
One last thought, Never be quick to cast a stone, lest you are willing to have ten more cast back at you. We are here to love one another, not to hate. We are to build and not destroy. We are to cast down every wicked thing that exhalts itself against God, but even at that, it takes love. Jesus never done anything out of hatred, only love. Even when He used very plain speech, it was out of love. Too many people have been hurt by hypoctrites that with their mouth confess the Lord, but in their heart they deny Him. Lip service just don't cut it my friend. We have to love with a godly love. Love God with all our mind, soul, heart, and strength. And our neighbors as ourself. Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. If we never meet here, may we meet over in heaven somewhere. Remember, Jesus loves you, and so do I.

Rev. M. Slusher:

Quoting: "Judge not lest ye be judged likewise!"

I found it hilarious how quickly you judged me. Then you have the balls to condemn me for doing God's command. You, my dear sir, are quiet the comedian!

I use to attend The Church of God of Prophecy, and it is no different than any other church, there are people who believe as they want to believe. It never stopped me from going. People in any Denomination are going to do and say things that are not justified by what the Bible teaches, and Preachers are human also, they fail just like any other person who falls short of the Grace of God. Instead of put it out there for everyone to see what wrong has been done to us, Prayer is the best solution. If you don't like a Church, just find another one, but I don't believe that name calling, judgement between people that are suppose to be Christians is right. God will only forgive us when we are able to forgive others. I happen to love not the Church, but the people in the Church, no matter what past experiences might have been. There is no perfect church, there are faults in every Denomination, it's just that sometimes we look to hard to find faults with some. Just find a church that meets your needs and move on with your life. I know that there are going to be Baptist,Pentecostal,Methodist and people from every Denomination in Heaven, it is not the Church that makes the Christian, it is your Personal relationship with God. If you Know Him and Believe in His Word and Accept it in your life and live it, you have no worries, but when you sit back judge and talk about others and their belief's and criticize them, then you might need to get down on your Knee's and ask God for the Right Guidance in Your Life.}

Mr. Louisianabayouguy:

May I asked a few questions?

Quoting: "If you Know Him and Believe in His Word and Accept it in your life . . ."
End quote.

Would you show me "Accept" in the Bible?

Quoting: ". . . when you sit back judge and talk about others and their belief's and criticize them, then you might need to get down on your Knee's and ask God for the Right Guidance in Your Life.}"
End quote.

When Paul judged the Corinthians was he wrong?

Now listen to this question really really carefully and think before answering. OK? Did you know that Dr. Fredrick K. C. Price lead a wery public study entitled "Racism in the pnetecostal church?" Was Dr. Price wrong?

ps. By the by, will the Roman church, Mormon Church, Metropolitan Community Church (gay pentecostalism), People's Temple (Jim Jones), Branch Davidian (David Koresh), Watchtower Bible & Tract Society (Jehovah's Witness, The Bible Students, Heaven's Gate) be in heaven?

i dont think any christian should be making all these smart comments we all need to be mature christian and focus on being God pleasers vs man also on spreading the gospel if you think a church or any individual have hurt you pray for better and that God will bring the truth stop bashing each other we need to show love regardless of the mistakes we have made i am tired to see christians act so childish and selfish towards each other if you think that COGOP have done something wrong to you or is presently doing something wrong pray for them i pray God help all of us to have a renewed mind so we can stop attacking each other and that we will be transformed totally because if we were we would not have made such judgement about any church or person we would do what Christ would have done .

Anointed 1 Yes we should turn to our Father and not man. That is what I did after COGOP and every other church showed to be full of lies. The first thing the Creator did was show me that His name has been replaced in the scriptures and His son's name was completely removed and replaced as well. After learning this (most bibles have it explained in the front) I asked for wisdom and His understanding and for Him to teach me and NEVER in my 36 years have i ever learned as much in this past year while relying on YHWH only! Man will deceive and the warning is clear from the Messiah. When I asked the question regarding christian churches and where i needed to go HIS reply was COME OUT OF HER! When i did, I became free. He set me free. Now I serve Yahweh (YHWH) Through his son Yahushua. Those including the one referred to as Jes*s was killed for proclaiming the father's true name given to Moses. Paul was stoned for saying that name out loud but he didn't die from a stoning. Stephen however did. The priest covered their ears to not hear him proclaim YAHWEH and stoned him to death. Gives a whole new meaning to suffering for HIS NAME'S Sake!

Psalms 91 really says volumes!!!

I hope this helps whom ever it was meant for. As an ex-attendee for 30 of my 36 years of living of the COGOP, I would advise to never even get involved with them. That church is a cult and you will be deceived. Take heed that no man deceive you. Yahushua is the way, the truth and the life!

As I have written before I grew up in the Church Of God of Prophecy and ny father was a pastor to many of the churchs in Virginia and West Virginia and North Carolina. As he would have problems at one church they would move him to another church.
I am the oldest of 7 childern and the only girl and I am 8 years older than my oldest brother. I was abused by my father and I could have left home and stayed away. I loved my brothers and Mother and continue to be there for them. Our Mother became ill and finally died I continue on helping the boys. Since I have written a book about my life two of my brothers that pastor in the Church of God Of Prophecy they are mad at me for telling my story. The leaders in the church did not help when we were small and now I have ask for help with this problem only one minister has continue to try and help. It is all about the money. One of my brothers that have became a minister told me Mother did not raise no fool that he preached on Sunday and got paid for the whole week. I told him Mother might not have raised a fool but! the people that were giving him their Hard earned money were the fools. When you help because you loved them and have the two that are suppose to be christians treat me like this what is wrong here. Like I said I have written a book about the abuse and if you are interested in reading it you can get it on amozom.com or from iUniversal printing company or Barnes & Nobles book stores. (BY GOD'S Grace)

I'm been a member of the cogop since 2000 and the one I go to is nothing like it is described here. It seems like a whole different church. There is absolutely no judgmentalness. It is a very small church but its like a family. We seem to be there for the outcasts and the people who do not fit in anywhere else. There is no fancy dress, we do not have any musicians. I lead singing and have to use canned music or else sing hymns with no music but I like it. Everyone loves each other. I grew up in the other Church of God that split with the cogop in 1923 so I am familiar with their doctrine. I hear stories about how strict they use to be but they haven't been that way since I've been there.

I have began to wonder if some of the ministers have gotten so comfortable with telling people how to live it has just became a routine and they do not practice what they preach. I find more and more just going through the routine to collect the money that people give them. It is all about the money.

eunice... i feel that alot of pastors in some of the churches who have many of the same and are organized are simply doing what the headquartes say do. in our church we don not have that. we do have to have fund raisers sometimes when we want something done that is necessary for the church but we dont forget that soul winning is the most important. yes we worship JESUS in a way that many would not like, meaning with the different kinds of music, drums, gituars, cymbals, piano, organs, hand claping, shouting, dancing in THE SPIRIT OF THE LORD speaking in tongues as THE SPIRIT GIVES UTTEREANCE, and practicing any of the gifts THAT GOD CHOSES TO USE AT THAT TIME. but we never forget soul winning for that is what it is all about . we preach THE WORD OF GOD IN ITS FULLNESS. there are those on this board who name pentecostals as being false and some say we are on our road to hell but we know and i know that i am saved and born agian. i know this had been long and im sorry but i just had to tell you
