Have just come across this site, and found it both enlightening and encouraging to read (posted back in Feb) of another person's experience, whereby her husband has got caught up in the false teachings of Harold Camping. I am from New Zealand, but from 1998 - 2003, my husband, myself and our family lived in the San Francisco Bay Area. Soon after our arrival, my husband got hooked onto Family Radio, and has subsequently left the Church - in obedience to Camping's instructions. This is nothing short of a cult, and the satanic hold on Camping followers is destructive ... particularly in pulling families and relationships apart. My husband's nature has changed from once being loving and gentle, to now - arrogant, judgemental and hypocritical (evidence that this teaching is NOT of God). Over these past 7 years, I have had first hand experience of the reality of spiritual warfare. | ||

Hi Greeneyes, your posting outlines a situation that is commonly faced by family members of those who have lost a loved one's mind to the brainwashing powers of Harold Camping. He is responsible for so much hearteache and must answer to God, just like the rest of us. he is very elderly and I believe may not be thinking straight. i hope your situation improves, dont give up! | ||

I got a free copy of Harold Camping's book "The End of the Church Age and After" I'm a genius in logic and deductive reasoning and though I didn't study it I read parts of the book carefully and followed his logic. He makes some excellent scriptural points and Biblical evidence for an end to the ceremonial church. Not all his logic is strong. There could be other possible interpretations. He has an open forum where anyone can call or listen. I listened to a few hours of it. I don't think his brain is playing tricks on him but to the contrary I think he speaks his understanding of scripture from his experiences and conclusions on it and not at all like one with hardening of the arteries whose mind plays tricks on them, but that's my opinion from a limited experience with people who have hardening of the arteries. What could be cultish is that his understandings put his ministry in a prominent place of what God is doing and cuts one off from all and any church, but that could be cultish or it could be true. He believes that the Bible is the only place to get truth and I would agree that nothing that contradicts properly translated and understood scripture is true but I also agree with scripture that the things of the creation also speak of the creator and true science can also lead one to a partial understanding of God. | ||

Lookatall, Thanks for your encouragement. You are spot on in saying (in another thread on the same subject) that isolation (as other people do not understand when a loved one is caught up in a cult) ... just compounds the heartache. | ||

I know that Family Radio isn't a cult. That is an improper term to define Family Radio as it is an improper term to define other religions as cults. I recently left the The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints thanks to God's True Word and God's called Ministry on Earth Family Radio. I know that Family Radio is true. I know that the Church Age has come to an End. I know about the Godhead and that Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior shall come again to deliver His Sheepfold who are His Sheep (John 10:16) I think and save them from the end which is to come. I know that Harold Camping is a true Prophet of God. I know that the Bible in the original languages comes directly from the mouth of Almighty GOD HIMSELF. | ||

The Back to God Hour, the broadcast ministry of the Christian Reformed Church, no longer distributes Insight to Family Radio because of the false teaching and the censuring of our programs whenever the subject did not suit them or the word "church" appeared. The Back to God Hour could do no other, given Family Radio's terrifying repudiation of the truth of Scripture. Joel Nederhood IT GOES ON AND ON.....
