Here is an article I found outlining what many students were investing in last year. I know some people had got some money out of it but soon after apparently no one could get their money out anymore. The scheme could not possibly work....the payments were considerably in excess of the best financial entrepreneurs. I know that poor students put some money into it. They are forever considering that this is the avenue that their fabulous wealth will arrive. I know one person who put in the base amount...around $425.00USD and the person who put it in for her did not do it properly. She lost the lot. There is no receipt given when the money is forwarded. FRAUD ALERT - PIPS "If it's too good to be true, it's too good to be true." by David G. Hanger March 18, 2005 Friday P.T. Barnum observed the phenomenon a long time ago, "There's a sucker born every minute." The only disconcerting aspect about that is how many of those suckers have decided to reside in Ketchikan. So far as I can discern dozens upon dozens of local residents have invested substantial sums of money in the scam called PIPS. I doubt very seriously you will find one qualified investment counselor, accredited accountant, experienced banker, or attorney in this town encouraging investment in this junk, yet somehow the "birdbrain" factor seems to be quite high in town right now, and untold thousands of local dollars have been dumped onto a bunch of conmeisters in Malaysia. Oh sure, our early local investors really are seeing a return on their investment. The mine does have to be salted, and local judas goats are indeed necessary for our Malaysian conmeisters to maximize their prospects. This is a very unsophisticated effort. It's kind of a cross between a chain letter and a Ponzi scheme, and it is illegal as hell. Most likely you will just lose all your money, but if you happen to be one of the judas goats who actually profits from this scam, you have another problem entirely. All that money in your bank account came from someone else's bank account originally, and when they figure out they've been scammed, they are going to be really , and in short order that's going to be directed at you. That extra money most likely will legally be defined as proceeds from an illegal or criminal enterprise. The police and the FBI have been notified. Remember that other mantra of ancient yore, "A fool and his money are soon parted." Talk to your banker, your accountant, and your lawyer (not necessarily in that order) before you invest in this silly scam. It should finally be noted that income from a criminal enterprise is taxable; deductions are not. The preceding is not a matter of opinion; it is a statement of fact. David G. voidgate I had two close friends that introduced me to pips, most people would consider them highly intelligent. One of them had experience in the stock market. They dispelled my suspicions and doubts, especially with all the scams that have robbed the Yelm community. They assured me that it was totally ethical and legal. They even told me that it was registered with the security and exchange commission. My thinking was… perhaps this really is genuine why not give it a go, $450.00 is not to much of a risk..and a nice nest egg for our daughter. The song by "The Who" "I won’t Get Fooled again" runs through my head. I am getting so fed up with the merchants of deception plaguing our communities. Do you think anyone in Yelm wants to talk about PIPS? Or Omega? Or all the other scams that have blown through Yelm. Its like they never ever happened. Welcome to Yelm… The denial capitol of the pacific Northwest.. |

An expanded article on the Omega scam. Fascinating that many of the people robbed refused to testify......... http://www.thenewstribune.com/news/projects/dove/story/4511397p-4236395c.html (Message edited by voidgate on May 09, 2006) |

Here is an article on monoatomic White Powder Gold. I know that many students parted with their money to help finance David Hudson to produce the product. He never did. I know people who lost thousands. It is just one of the many scams that have gone around the RSE community. Students have lost large sums of money from a multitude of sources. I heard of someone who mortgaged their house to put money into the PIPS scheme. http://www.lyghtforce.com/whitegold/00000012.htm |

An update on the PIPS scam circulating around Yelm from about mid 2004 to 2005. Its originators are taken into custody. http://www.sitnews.us/0805Viewpoints/082105_david_hanger.html |

Oh, yes. Just one more scam in Yelm. At my last event out there, in November 2005, I had a student trying to sell me on some health thing, too. Forget it. I have a current-student-friend who is into PIPS and she still thinks that, and OMEGA, will come through. It's just incredible that they sustain the fantasy of fabulous wealth coming from some scam. I put some money into the David Hudson White Powder of Gold monoatomic elements, but lost that. I wasn't a huge amount, thank goodness. Then, another time, a long time ago (how embarrassing!!!), I invested $1,500 into some MLM scam. It's unreal. Those are the only two times in my life I've done anything that financially stupid. Oh, well. It sure won't happen again. "Ramtha" supported the white powder investment, but not the other one. Just FYI. |

Another money waster that went though Yelm in the early 90's was a course called Subliminal Dynamics. It cost about $400 for the weekend and was supposed to enable you to "read" just by flipping through a book in moments. |

DENTIST SCAM Apparently quite a few students used a dentist called "Hal". He operated out of the back of a barn in McKenna and took clients only by referral from someone else. Last I heard someone told me Hal had been deregistered in California (I think) and had done a botch job on a lady in McKenna and was on the run. One student I know of considered Hal did not "like the system" and thus preferred to use him. Others probably had a similar viewpoint. Hal charged a set hourly fee of $100 plus addtions for materials. Some of his work and recommendations were highly unorthodox and questionable. I know an Australian student who did not have enough money to get her teeth properly looked after so she had them pulled out (not by Hal).....under the illusion that one day she would regrow them. Many students are to poor to afford proper USA medical care. Foreigners that are there illegally have to rely on "not getting sick." |
