Cult 'Definition':To deny the divinity of Christ 1) Proselytization: The Making of Personal Followers (Matthew 23:15)(John 10:1-5) Paul was not calling on fellow-beelievers to be his personal followers, but rather to follow his example of faith in Christ as, or when, he was of Christ. (1 Cor 11:1)(Eph 3:1)(1 Peter 3:13)(2 Thess 3:9) The Proselytization begins when people begin to follow, or obey, the teachings of men as commandments of God (Matthew 15:9), which is in violation of the rule of God's ministry (2 Peter 2:20): i.e. Preaching personal standards that are not written, as though they were God's standards that are written: or, preaching what you privately do to fulfill the Scripture, as though it were the Scripture itself! EX: It is a sin for a woman to cut her hair... The Scriptural teaching is for a woman not to wilfully (Heb 10:26) uncover her head, by cutting her hair too short...which is, certainly, fulfilled by not cutting it at all. So a personal standard (not cut it at all) fulfills the Scripture (not cut it so short that the woman's head is uncovered), which is fine for that person, but the violation of God's ministry and making of personal followers occurs when anyone begins to preach 'not cutting hair at all' as though it were the Scriptural requirement for all believers. Those who teach such personal doctrines for commandments of God are starting a personal following (Cultish/blind leaders), and those who obey such teaching, as God's Law, are allowing themselves to become personal followers of false teachers (cultish/blind members). So, the 'more noble'(Acts 17:11), or smarter, believers will search the Scriptures for themselves, so as to remain followers of God by the faith of Jesus (Rev 14:12) according to His own Word, rather than to veer off, or stray off, into becoming personal followers of another, or stranger. So, when Scripture is preached, then people may submit themselves (Heb 13:17)to God, who sent the preacher (Rom 10:15). But, when 'Private Interpretations' are preached, then people may submit themselves to another than God, who is preaching another Gospel (Galatians 1:6-9), than Christ's! |
