Mr Hakeem Al-Hassan, I have been very quiet for a while reassessing the task to be done in eradicating the cancer of violence that plagues our Nations youth. When I come across messages like yours it really makes me wonder how ignorant people can be. Yes Unical was and is a flash point between Buccanneers, Vikings and Axemen, and yes most of the recruitment in that environment was done in the mind that it was and is a war zone, but, you have now left that environment and are now in Germany (a police state). How stupid can you be not to realise that the greater world is one of reconciliation, building bridges and being your brothers keeper. I was in Germany earlier this year and was fortunate to be in the company of Vikings (from Unical), Axemen and Buccanneers none of whom spew the nonsence that you vomit. In deed there is at least one business that I visited that is being run by Vikings and Axemen together in a rented premises (Legit business-not these runs that you believe is business). I also know a lot of Buccanneers, KK men, Axemen and Vikings from Unical (all of whom graduated between 1990 and 2003) and all have matured into fine men who shun violence. The way forwrd is to look at the greater picture and embrace all men (men not boys) whatever their colour and work together to eradicate this menace. The boys on campus need to be re-engaged, their leadership be invited formally to be given the orientation that is currently lacking,charged with reorientating their campus members, given lessons on conflict management to reduce the incidences of violence by employing a more informed and matured method to deal with the day to day challenges that occur and given action projects to carry out to keep them occupied. Most importantly they need to be given role models to look upto rather than left to the moneymen and politicians to use at their whim. The campus leadership must also be charged with expelling all known rapists, armed robbers and those known to be prone to gratuitous violence in order to restore a little normalcy to the current situation. These expulsions should be made public so that they cannot pop up in another campus in their previous guise.
