OK, I know that I may not be able to get an answer to this and that some people may get angry, but I figured I need to ask anyways. Has anyone ever been to one of those "Encounter Weekends?" Some family memebers and friends of mine have gone and they told me about some things that they experienced while there, but they could not tell me what really went on during the weekend except that God took a lot of things out of their lives that were no good. Which to me sounded really awsome. But they also said that they had to sign a contract that said they would not talk about what goes on at the encounter, which kinda raised a little bit of a red flag in me. I was later told something by my husband's mother who is a pastor about what goes on in those weekends and what she told me about it was so unbiblical that it made me want to cry for my family and friends. I do not want to at this momet say what I was told because I am praying for some sort of a conformation. If there is anyone who has been to one of these weekends or knows something about them. Please let me know. I don't not want to make a judgement without knowing the facts, but I am very concerned about what I heard |

sounds maybe sexual in nature? Or some sort of tell-all Exorcism ritual. Or perhaps a bunch of weak-minded people sitting around crying like a bunch of babies which sounds even worse. I let my wife go to one of those things once and she said everybody there was naked. She went to another one a few months later and I devorced her. PEACE |

Was the encounter she went to the one that was run by the people who are following that man Cesar Centallanos(i think thats his last name) who started the G12. I'm just very concerned because I heard some strang things about the way they cleanse people from their sins and about people who were able to "look Jesus in the eyes" and "sit on Jesus' lap" It concerns me very much bc my father went to something called "The Encounter" and I am afraid it is the same thing I heard about and I'm worried that he has been decieved |

Hi, iamnotmyown7, I refer you to the G 12 thread both parts one and two. G 12 encounter weekends (from what I have heard on the G 12 thread)have some aspects of them that are unBiblical. G 12 is a multilevel marketing scheme for the Lord, but Castellanos (a politician) wants to set himself up as king of the hill, so to speak. G 12 is the old Shepherding Movement all over again. Please read the G 12 thread, and you'll gain much info. It will take you some time to read all of it, but it is worth it. We need only listen and follow God, and submit to him---not these control freaks! Blessings, Nina |

God bless you all, I just wanted to say to all of you that I went to an Encounter about a month ago, it is the most beautiful experience that you can ever have. There is nothing 'cultist' about it. We just can't tell anyone about it because we don't want to ruin the experience for you, just like someone shouldn't tell you about a movie you haven't seen yet, and ruin it for you. If you want to know what happens at an Encounter, you should go to one yourselves, and see the power of God move in your lives! God Bless you all... |
